Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Wednesday for a united and Palestinian-led government for Gaza and the West Bank after the war ends, as a step toward Palestinian statehood. That vision sharpens U.S. differences with ally Israel on what the future should look like for the Palestinian territories once Israel’s military campaign against Hamas winds down.
Blinken’s outline of what Americans think should come next for Gaza also serves as a check on the postwar scenarios floated by officials of Israel’s hard-right government and its supporters. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement Monday that Israel’s military would likely maintain security control of Gaza for an “indefinite period” appears to have heightened U.S. concerns.
Any postwar governing plan for Gaza “must include Palestinian-led governance and Gaza unified with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority,” Blinken told reporters in Japan. […]
Blinken reinforced the Biden administration’s rejections of any return of lasting direct Israeli control in Gaza, as well as of a proposal — promoted in a policy report by Israel’s intelligence ministry — to push Gaza’s Palestinian residents into neighboring Egypt.
“We’re very clear on no reoccupation, just as we’re very clear on no displacement of the Palestinian population,” Blinken said. “And, as we’ve said before, we need to see and get to, in effect, unity of governance when it comes to Gaza and the West Bank, and ultimately to a Palestinian state.” …

The population of Gaza will not accept the Palestinian Authority (I don’t blame them it is a corrupt, weak and useless organization), the West Bank while not as strongly against the PA really does not want them either.

So Hamas is not “corrupt, weak and useless” by contrast?
If they were to leave no doubt they would come here to the USA and Democrats would elect them into office.
Pretty soon, Biden is just going to surrender the US to the people in Gaza.

I was just pointing out that the PA would not be accepted as a governing authority and therefore Blinken’s plan is a non-starter. I made no comment about Hamas.
Americans are upset Blinken had US taxpayers pay
for the weapons as he funded those that planned
the atrocity.
Blinken wants to NO protection or survival for anyone his
terrorism has touched.
Israel should, after flooding the terror-tunnels,
connect Gaza to Eilat with a canal ($10 billion/yr fees).
The Palestinians have been offered their own state, twice; in 1948 and again during the Clinton Administration. They rejected it twice.

The doubt the Israelis will turn Gaza back to run by Hamas or any similar group. I imagine they will set up government run by approved Palestinians, through which money, patronage and development aid will flow. Smart Palestinians will get on board and business opportunities will abound. Israel will also do quite a bit of 'social credit' and biometrics monitoring of the Palestinians, like the Han Chinese do in Xinjiang.
Anyone who has ever been there knows it will never work.
And after the Hamas slaughter of civilian Jews, Israel will never allow West Bank self rule.
As to Gaza - it should be depopulated and razed, with all Gazans exiled to Iran.
Israel will never again allow a UN-Hamas terror government in Gaza. Nor relinquish absolute security in Gaza.
This episode is an important lesson for the US. Soon our Islamic enclaves will do the same.
This is a religious war about subjugation. It has nothing to do with territorial disputes. Washington does not understand that fact.
