The four criminal trials currently scheduled for former President Donald Trump are amongst the most significant and controversial trials in American history. It is imperative that they also be among the fairest trials in our history. Regardless of the results—acquittal, conviction, hung jury—the trials must be perceived as having been fair. The defendant must receive the benefit of all of his constitutional and statutory rights. Not only is Donald Trump on trial in these cases, but the American system of justice is on trial, not only in America but around the world. The defendant is not only a former president;...

The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld an injunction restricting how the government can communicate with social media companies, which the Biden administration warns will stymie efforts to counter false and misleading claims about elections, public health and other important topics. The panel of judges, all GOP nominees, say that the administration's efforts to flag what it considered to be false and harmful content about COVID, the 2020 election and other topics that violated the social media companies' policies likely amount to a violation of the First Amendment. The court found that Biden Administration officials coerced and threatened...

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in the midst of a spate of gun violence. The Democratic governor said she is expecting legal challenges but felt compelled to act in response to gun deaths, including the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week. The firearms suspension is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates that only the Albuquerque area currently meets. Police...

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that San Francisco’s crime problems are “confined to a certain part of town.” Anchor Nicolle Wallace said, “Let’s start with San Francisco, as you know, is my hometown and one of my most favorite places on earth. UC Berkeley grad and a Berkeley native. It does need voices and powerful people in Washington. What is your prescription for helping the city from within? I mean, it is the subject of constant attack segments on conservative media, and the tragedy to me seems they can find enough examples of the most heinous...

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin – the Russian mercenary leader whose plane crashed weeks after he led a mutiny against Moscow’s military leadership – shows what happens when people make deals with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. As Ukraine’s counteroffensive moves into a fourth month, with only modest gains to show so far, Zelensky told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria he rejected suggestions it was time to negotiate peace with the Kremlin. “When you want to have a compromise or a dialogue with somebody, you cannot do it with a liar,” Volodymyr Zelensky said. The Wagner leader’s...

The worst things about life in modern Australia are terrible. Government tyranny and bureaucratic stupidity are the norms. Criminal-at-large Daniel Michael Andrews is still in power as premier of Victoria. But an underlying reality is a human cultural foundation which, while under threat, has not been entirely destroyed - not yet. This foundation includes beautiful, religious, courageous, honest people like Monica. Praise the Lord.

[A]sked during a July appearance ... about the scholarship, claimed he took the money because he could not afford the Yale law school fees. But the explanation was ripped to shreds by MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan on Thursday, leaving a visibly squirming Ramaswamy struggling to change the subject. 'You say you are anti-identity politics, anti-Affirmative Action, ... 'And your defense for that is that you didn't have the money to pay for law school. 'Even though you had already made over a million dollars at the time.' ... Hasan,...

Tantalising footage captures a mysterious creature emerging from Loch Ness before it sinks back to the depths as a boat approaches. Eoin O’Faodhagain was watching the water via webcam when he spotted what “could well be the Loch Ness Monster” surfacing in the distance. “The portion of the creature that appeared out of the water first, looked like the head and neck of something,” the Nessie hunter said, “When this upper portion of its body submerged, a long black object appeared – it could be at least eight feet long. Significant army service is a big deal in Israel. So much so that many young Israeli Jews will postpone their mandatory conscription for one year after high school in order to attend a pre-military preparatory training camp, to make sure they are as prepared as possible. Already years ago, Maj. (res.) Shadi Khalloul, a regular contributor to Israel Today, recognized that the key to greater Christian integration into Israeli society was encouraging young Christians to volunteer for military service. Israel’s minorities are not required to join the Jews in physically defending the State of Israel, but many, like the Druze,...

The discovery of this "door" was initially shared by an observant Facebook user on July 30 and quickly went viral. The image reveals a shadowy square-shaped mark resembling a hidden entrance on the eastern side of the vast ice sheet. Conspiracy theorists have since speculated on the purpose...

North Korea claimed to launch its first nuclear attack submarine on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by a very excited Kim Jong-un, but the South Korean military quickly pointed out that the submarine does not appear operational or capable of carrying a heavy payload of nuclear missiles. Dictator Kim Jong-un gushed over the sub at its lavish launch ceremony, which came three days before the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Communist dictatorship. The corpulent dictator looked like the world’s most sinister child unwrapping an unexpected gift on Christmas morning: The sub was ostentatiously christened Hero Kim Kun-ok, the...
