American soldier Travis King had shown signs of possibly defecting from the Army nearly a year before he fled into North Korean territory, telling military officials while serving in South Korea that he would not “return to post or America.” *** It was not the first sign of trouble for the Wisconsin native, who was facing assault allegations over a fight at a club on Sept. 25. [On] Sept. 4, while serving at Camp Bonifas near the southern end of the Demilitarized Zone that separates North and South Korea, King skipped out on his daily formation and took off to...

If the European Commission authorizes its use, the shot, called Abrysvo, could become the bloc's first to protect infants up to six months of age from the virus when given to pregnant women. The commission last month approved the region's first RSV vaccine, branded Arexvy, from rival GSK (GSK.L) for older people.

“Khrushchev saw the transfer as a way of fortifying and perpetuating Soviet control over Ukraine now that the civil war had finally been won. Some 860,000 ethnic Russians would be joining the already large Russian minority in Ukraine.” “The transfer of Crimea to the UkrSSR also was politically useful for Khrushchev as he sought to firm up the support he needed in his ongoing power struggle with Soviet Prime Minister Georgii Malenkov, who had initially emerged as the preeminent leader in the USSR in 1953 after Joseph Stalin’s death.”

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Pet. 1:3). God has blessed you richly and is worthy of your praise. The source of your eternal inheritance is God, whom Peter described in several ways. First, He is our blessed God (1 Pet. 1:3). The Greek word translated "blessed" in that verse speaks of that which is worthy of blessing, adoration, praise, or worship. Peter's praise for God is an example for us to follow. Our God is especially worthy of our praise in light of the glorious inheritance He has granted us in His Son...

[Catholic Caucus] Revolution From the Top in the Catholic ChurchIf personnel is policy, as corporate consultants proclaim, then two of Pope Francis’ most recent appointments reflect his goal to impose his vision on the Catholic Church at the expense of its remaining theological and moral credibility. One is the new head of the Vatican’s highest theological body, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, the new name for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The other, who is organizing next month’s World Youth Day, reinforces Francis’ globalist vision, which effectively denies the Gospel, as The Stream reported. Both men...

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the Crimean Bridge is a legitimate target for Ukraine because Russian invaders use it to transport weapons. This target should be neutralised, the president has said.Quote from Zelenskyy: "The objective is to reclaim the whole of Crimea because it is our sovereign territory... The Crimean Bridge is not just a logistical road. This is the route used to feed the war with ammunition … and it militarises the Crimean peninsula. For us, this is understandably an enemy facility, built outside the law, outside international laws and all applicable laws, so understandably this is our objective,...

A wall of water as much as 18 feet high rose out of a calm sea and crashed ashore, smashing hundreds of vehicles parked on the beach and causing 75 minor injuries, officials and witnesses said. An undersea landslide apparently caused the 27-mile-long rogue wave late Friday night, a federal seismologist said Saturday."I saw this huge wall of white water," said Roy Bennett of South Daytona Beach, who was walking on the beach with his wife. "I told my wife to run, and I ran behind her. If we hadn't run, we'd have been pinched in between cars or cars...

Britain has a historically low unemployment rate of 3.6%. Yet poverty levels are breaking all records. It’s a paradoxical situation: almost 15 million Britons are considered poor these days, although there’s almost full employment. The reason: inflation and high energy costs. Galloping inflation and a dramatic spike in energy costs in recent months are forcing millions of Britons into poverty. Wages fluctuate in an "uberized” working world of precarious employment conditions. Over the past 10 years, beginning with David Cameron, the government has scaled back its support to vulnerable members of society. The result: reduced life expectancy. Disadvantaged Britons are...

The Kentucky Board of Nursing mandated nurses to take an " implicit bias " course to "recognize the history of racism in healthcare" and threatened "discipline" for failure to do so. The ultimatum to complete the "mandatory continuing education" training, which was developed by the Kentucky Nurses Association , forced nurses to complete the training by July 1. "They pretty much said we're all guilty of being racist, and we need to examine the way that we take care of patients and change our behaviors because we are giving substandard care," Rebecca Wall, a Kentucky certified registered nurse anesthetist with...
