WASHINGTON, Friday, June 5. Up to midnight no official advisee from Vicksburgh have been received later than those of the 31st May, but a few additional particulars give rather a more cheerful indication of good results. Extracts from to-day's Richmond papers, are represented by those who read the telegrams, as containing nothing of special interest from any quarters. CAIRO, Friday, June 5. The dispatch-boat Gen. Lyon, from Vicksburgh Monday night, has arrived. Firing was kept up all of Monday. Gen. SHERMAN's troops, on the right wing, could be seen in motion. After the mountaintop experience of the transfiguration, Jesus came down the mountain and was immediately met by a man who was in trouble (see Matthew 17:1-21). I often have to gently let new believers know that they may be feeling on top of the world, only to get home and be assailed by unwanted thoughts or doubts about their salvation. Many times when we have enjoyed a tremendous spiritual victory, Satan is just around the corner. You go on a wonderful Christian retreat and experience the movement of the Holy Spirit, only to come home to a problem or a...

Epps’ unusual defenders make less and less sense. He is one of the most consequential—and complicated—individuals involved in the events of January 6. Ryan Samsel, then a 37-year-old Pennsylvania barber, drove to Washington on the morning of January 6, 2021 with his girlfriend to watch Donald Trump’s speech. Unable to hear the president, they walked east towards Capitol Hill where a large group, including members of the Proud Boys, had assembled. Samsel soon found himself on the front lines of a protest the national media and Joe Biden immediately branded an “insurrection.” Video shows Samsel approaching a weak line of...

"Putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness . . . receive the word" (James 1:21). You cannot receive God’s Word and harbor sin at the same time. When the psalmist said, "I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Thy word" (Ps. 119:101), he was acknowledging a key principle of spiritual growth: you must set aside sin if you expect to benefit from God's Word. Peter was expressing the same thought when he said, "Putting aside all malice and all guile and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babes, long...

Biden is surrendering American power. The erosion of American power caused by Biden's policies is irreversible. Even if Trump wins the America he will receive will be as powerful as Zimbabwe By Ezequiel Doiny Harvard Belfer Center reports China is winning the economic race with the US. This represents a victory of tyranny over freedom. Inaction has its price. Truman's inaction against China during the Korean war made the World a much more dangerous place since China assisted both Pakistan and North Korea to obtain nuclear weapons; China consolidated its takeover of Tibet causing much suffering. Lives could have been...

They saw what happened (or didn't happen) when antifa made American cities unliveable. Now it's their turn. Election time is on, so what better than for Europe's eco fanatics, the toddler-like people who have been blocking highways and throwing their food on Europe's art masterpieces, to take their show on the road to the states come summer? According to the Daily Mail: Europe's top climate activists are planning a 'large-scale civil disobedience campaign' of highway blockages, hunger strikes and disruption at 'federal properties' in the US in August, DailyMail.com can reveal. Leaders from Extinction Rebellion (XR) and other European groups...

Bud Light needs to come up with a cogent strategy to win back customers in the next few months, a former executive warned, or its market share losses could become permanent. Come September, retailers are expected to begin reallocating the limited shelf space by relying on sales data from the preceding months. In Bud Light’s case, that could mean a diminished presence going forward following the controversy over its brief partnership with a transgender influencer, according to Anson Frericks. A president of sales and distribution at Budweiser’s U.S. parent Anheuser-Busch until his departure in April 2022, he told the Daily...

The wall of a major dam in a part of southern Ukraine that Moscow controls collapsed Tuesday after a reported explosion, sending water gushing downriver and prompting dire warnings of ecological disaster as officials from both sides in the war ordered residents to evacuate. Ukraine accused Russian forces of blowing up the dam and hydroelectric power station, while Russian officials blamed Ukrainian military strikes in the contested area. The fallout could have broad consequences: Flooding homes, streets and businesses downstream; depleting water levels upstream that help cool Europe’s largest nuclear power plant; and draining supplies of drinking water to the...

Olczak believes that a move on cigarettes similar to the combustion engine would have to be on a timescale that gives consumers and the industry time to respond and change. ‘Looking at what the UK is doing in the car industry, saying that as of a certain year you are not allowed to produce petrol cars, we could have this with tobacco too,’ he told the Mail. Olczak was himself a smoker for two decades until he tried the brand’s IQOS heated tobacco device, which costs £39 for a starter kit. Products such as heated tobacco and e-vapes now account...
