Wagner warlord Prigozhin has grown increasingly critical of Moscow's MoD The mercenary chief branded the 70-year-old dictator a 'complete a**hole' and mock him as a 'happy grandfather' amid reports from the frontlines of a Russian retreat and Ukrainian gains around the besiged city of Bakhmut. Prigozhin hinted later that his foul-mouthed onslaught was in fact aimed at Putin's chief of the general army staff Valery Gerasimov, 67, who he blames for ammunition shortages at the front. Another possible target was defence minister Sergei Shoigu, also 67, but many believe it was aimed squarely at Putin. Independent news outlet Meduza reported...

Just an observation Freepers but I think he's done a really good job (mostly media etc) and pleased he was picked for Oversight chairman by the much derided 'leadership'. I think he's going places.

One of the constants about socialist governments, going back to Stalin and Hitler, is that ordinary people become spies against their neighbors. When East Germany fell, and people could finally see files from the Stasi (i.e., secret police), it turned out that almost 200,000 people were currently serving as informers, and everyone was encouraged to spy on family, friends, and neighbors to serve the cause. Biden’s DHS would like to see the same happen in America. A FOIA request revealed that it produced training documents teaching ordinary Americans to report on Americans opposed to Biden’s policies. This sounds too far-fetched...

The following important dispatches were published in our Sunday edition. We reproduce them, this morning, because we have positive knowledge that one of the reports which they contain is true -- the one relating to the movements of the Army of the Potomac. Gen. Hooker is again across the Rappahannock, and operating against LEE's shattered columns: PHILADELPHIA, Saturday, May 9. The Bulletin, of this City, publishes the following highly important intelligence this evening: "We learn from the editors of the Philadelphia Inquirer that one of their correspondents, who has just returned from Washington, informed them that Gen. Hooker recrossed the...

There can be only one answer to this question, but it's the unpopular answer. Recently, while apologizing to "indigenous peoples" and denouncing Christians — without the all-important historical context — Pope Francis declared, "Never again can the Christian community allow itself to be infected by the idea that one culture is superior to others[.]" This — claiming all cultures are equal — is a dangerous position, not least as it leads to relativism and the abnegation of Truth. For most Western people today, the word culture conjures at best superficial differences — "exotic" dress or food. In reality, however, cultures...

The twelve apostles included "Andrew" (Matt. 10:2). Leading others to Christ should be a top priority in your life. Andrew was Peter's brother and a native of Bethsaida of Galilee. From the very start we see him leading people to Christ—beginning with his own brother. The gospel of John records his first encounter with Jesus: "John [the Baptist] was standing with two of his disciples (Andrew and John), and he looked upon Jesus as He walked, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God!' And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. . . . One of the...

There is nothing in the Old Testament quite as strong as the warnings of Paul against affinity with the world. “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my...

Land-hungry biomass, wind, and solar power are set to occupy an area equivalent of the size of the European Union by 2050. Germany idiotically shut down its last three nuclear power plants last month. Until 2011, the country obtained one-quarter of its electricity from 17 nuclear power plants. As a December 2022 study in Scientific Reports shows, turning off this carbon-free energy source is incredibly short-sighted for combatting climate change and protecting natural landscapes. The European researchers behind the new study do an in-depth analysis of how much land and sea area it would take to implement the Net Zero...

Presidents Ford, Carter and Bush yesterday wrote an open letter backing legislation to grant permanent normal trade relations to China. Shoring up support on the right, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said he too is behind the measure, which would ease the communist nation’s long-desired entry into the World Trade Organization.... The former presidents said granting China permanent trade benefits would build upon market-opening initiatives pursued by every American president since World War II.”It will open China’s markets to us without increasing China’s access to our market,” the presidents said.... Ford and Carter will join President Clinton, Vice President Al...

resident Joe Biden used former President Donald Trump's town hall interview with CNN as an avenue to tout his 2024 reelection campaign. Trump on Wednesday night appeared on CNN for the first time since 2016, as he was interviewed by CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins and responded to questions from crowd members about his third presidential campaign. Much of the interview centered around topics such as Trump's continued 2020 election loss denial, the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the E. Jean Carroll trial and the discovery of classified documents at Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Trump had previously expressed...

...the narrative has been that deposits are fleeing the small commercial banks and flooding into the biggest banks that are perceived as too-big-to-fail and thus offer a safer venue for deposits. Because these mega banks are the same ones that the Fed has been bailing out since the financial crisis of 2008, We decided to check out that narrative for ourselves. Not only is that scenario wrong, but it is so decidedly wrong, and it’s so easy to get the accurate figures, that from where we sit it looks like there might have been an agenda by someone to harm...

The divisions between Russia’s defense ministry and its notorious Wagner group continue to play out in public with mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin suggesting Tuesday that Russian forces have fled their posts in Bakhmut. In a video posted to the Telegram messaging app, the once top ally to President Vladimir Putin claimed that units from Russia’s military "fled from one of our flanks" and exposed his forces to Ukrainian assaults, which he said were "tearing up the flanks," according to multiple reports. Prigozhin's claims of a Russian retreat were echoed by Ukraine's Third Assault Brigade, which said that forces from Russia's...

Ukrainian military commanders said on Wednesday that their troops had broken through Russian positions on the southern flank of the embattled eastern city of Bakhmut, forcing Russian units back from their positions at an important bridgehead of a canal. Ukrainian officials and the head of Russia’s Wagner militia group said that Russian troops had lost an area of roughly three square miles southwest of the city. If confirmed, it would be the first significant gain for Ukraine in the fight for Bakhmut since pushing Russian forces off a key access road two months ago, although it was far from clear...

President Joe Biden is facing the prospect of impeachment by Republicans in Congress amid as-yet unspecified allegations of a "criminal scheme" involving bribery and an unnamed foreign individual. Senator Chuck Grassley and Representative James Comer, both Republicans, are demanding that the FBI produce an unclassified record "alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national." Comer, who is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, has issued a subpoena to the FBI seeking an unclassified FD-1023 document that a whistleblower has told the Republicans exists. The FBI was given until May 10 to comply...

“He [the drag queen actor] called being a man or being a woman growing up with certain soft parts,” the Catholic activist recalled. “You see the way they talk about the human body, the way you talk about the human soul, the way they talk about humanity in general is disgusting. They hate humanity.”
