The lawsuit filed against Fox News by Dominion Voting Services, set to go to trial on April 17, may turn out to be a seminal case in First Amendment jurisprudence, with effects that reach well beyond Fox. In a nutshell, Dominion charges that Fox defamed them by putting on air people who claimed that Dominion’s voting machines yielded incorrect results, to the benefit of Joe Biden. More than this, the plaintiffs have secured, through depositions, evidence that Fox News hosts and news executives themselves disbelieved the claims their on-air guests were making. For all that, the irony surrounding this case...

* Record numbers ended their lives under Oregon's assisted-dying scheme * They include at least three non-resident 'death tourists', officials said * Critics say America is on a 'slippery slope' to Canada's euthanasia free-for-all Record numbers of people ended their lives in Oregon last year in America's most advanced doctor-assisted suicide program, which now lets out-of-state 'death tourists' get lethal drug cocktails on the West Coast. Last year, 431 people received fatal prescriptions under the state's Death With Dignity Act (DWDA), and 278 people used them to end their lives, Oregon Health Authority said in its annual report. What a juxtaposition of absurdity versus reality. On the same day that the Kyiv Independent publishes a horrific report detailing the catastrophic losses of Ukrainian troops in Bakhmut, Lloyd Austin and Mark Milley compete for the “Who is the most stupid” award. I think it is a tie. Judge for yourselves. Let us start with the article from the Ukraine publication, the Kyiv Independent. We will use this as the benchmark to evaluate what Austin and Milley said at their press conference on Wednesday. Battle of Bakhmut: Ukrainian soldiers worry Russians begin to ‘taste victory’ Just days before heading back...

The federal government has been using Americans’ income and gun purchases to conduct warrantless tracking and deny Second Amendment rights. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) gave salary estimates to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as the reason to have people’s firearms purchases monitored.Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America (GOA), told The Epoch Times that the ATF’s activities “monitoring innocent people” is a serious problem. “Congress needs to rein in this rogue agency by either exercising oversight over it or abolishing the unconstitutional agency altogether,” said Pratt. These revelations come from...

Around 20 percent of Americans, equivalent to 66 million people, support the idea of a “national divorce” that was recently floated by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), according to a new Ipsos poll. The idea is far more popular among Republicans than Democrats, with 25 percent of GOP voters wanting to break away and form a conservative nation, compared to just 16 percent of Democrats. The poll explains:While the opposition is high, confidence in American democracy is low; only 37% of Americans are optimistic about the state of American democracy. Decisive majorities of Democrats and Republicans are against breaking up the U.S.,...

Mark 12:28-34 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus sums up the laws of love.It was a common practice in Jesus’ time to ask a rabbi to identify the central precept of the Law. Thus Jesus is asked, “Which is the first of all the commandments?” He gave his famous answer: “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” All of religion is finally about awakening the deepest desire of the heart and directing it...

Janet Yellen, Secretary of the Treasury, clarified how the bank bailouts would be handled. Although Yellen is no longer with the Federal Reserve, she has stepped up to dictate how the bailouts will be structured and processed. Yellen has decided that all depositors at the failed banks will be made whole for amounts above the FDIC $250,000 insurance limit if they have donated to the DNC or Biden's 2020 election. Depositors who have not donated to the DNC or Biden are advised that life is not fair and that they will get their guaranteed $250,000 back eventually after they sue....

President Biden on Friday said the International Criminal Court (ICC) is “justified” in issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin over allegations of war crimes. “Well, I think it’s justified,” Biden told reporters before leaving the White House for Delaware. “But the question is, it’s not recognized internationally by us, either. But I think it makes a very strong point.” Asked whether Putin should be tried for war crimes, Biden did not directly answer, but said the Russian leader has “clearly committed war crimes.”

[Catholic Caucus] The Vatican’s irresolute response to the threat of German schismIn an interview posted today, Cardinal Pietro Parolin expressed opposition to the German bishops’ decision to offer blessings for same-sex unions. So far, so good. But the reasons that the Vatican Secretary of State gave for that opposition are troubling.Cardinal Parolin said that the German episcopal conference “cannot make such a decision that involves the discipline of the universal Church.”Well, first of all, the German bishops did make that decision. The German bishops voted 38-9 in favor the statement passed by the Synodal Path, “Blessing ceremonies for couples who...

In March 1997, I had a conversation with Tucker Carlson that would predict the future. Specifically it predicted liberalism’s current empire of lies.Carlson has recently expressed amazement at how bad the public lies have gotten. Last week on The Glenn Beck Show, Carlson revealed footage from the Capitol January 6 that undercut our Principalities and Powers’ official narrative. Especially its claims about Jacob Chansley (the wacky guy in the Viking helmet) who was visibly nonviolent, but nonetheless got four years in prison.Carlson sounded amazed and a bit dejected. His father had worked in government. Carlson grew up in Washington. He...

Some politicians address challenges head-on. Others attempt distractions, changing the subject in the hope that the public will forget the ongoing disasters of their governance. It should be no surprise by now that Joe Biden falls in the latter group. As the American economy continues to stagnate, with high inflation, a sluggish stock market, and the promise of home ownership moving into unreachable territory, Joe Biden has returned to one of his favorite cons: the idea that he can make Americans safer by expanding unconstitutional gun control measures. As America’s financial pages attempted to learn from the sudden collapses of...
