A federal manhunt is underway for Roy McGrath, once the chief of staff to ex-Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, after he failed to appear in court Monday for the first day of his trial on wire fraud and embezzlement charges. [snip] A law enforcement source tells CBS News that McGrath's family was at his home in Florida when FBI visited the house Tuesday morning. The source said his high profile and the widely circulating photos will make it difficult for him to remain at large. McGrath, 53, has been living in Naples, Florida, and was supposed to travel to Maryland for...

Russia's economy depends on revenues from oil exports and American sanctions have been tuned up to choke its war effort against Ukraine. But there’s one area important to the Kremlin’s military output that has so far avoided scrutiny. It involves Haas Automation, a high tech American manufacturer that may be flouting export controls. Simon Ostrovsky reports with support from the Pulitzer Center. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhuIGLV97Kw

University of South Florida (USF) student Andrew Davis was denied access to the mental health help he sought because he was not part of the black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) community, exclusive emails and documentation obtained by Campus Reform show. After noticing that none of the "Understanding Self and Others" (USO) group therapy meetings worked with his schedule, Davis asked USF’s counseling center on Oct. 3 of 2022 if he could instead attend the BIPOC meeting since this worked with his schedule. In the email sent to the counseling center, Davis inquired, “I am interested in attending a...

Friday was a dark day for the U.S. economy. Last Friday, Wells Fargo customers started complaining about missing money from their accounts. Wells Fargo has publicly acknowledged that customers are missing money from their accounts but did not provide customers with a timeline for fixing the issue. Silicon Valley Bank also collapsed on Friday. When Wells Fargo customers logged into their bank accounts Friday, they were greeted with a message that read. “If you see incorrect balances or missing transactions, this may be due to a technical issue and we apologize. Your accounts continue to be secure and we’re working...

Teaching and conveying information are one among the most important aspects of writing. Often like a college professor trying to teach undergraduates the vitally important fundamentals of political science and the basics of governmental power. Fortunately, the far left has been providing an increased number of examples of its inherent authoritarianism SNIP This means that those of the far left living in denial can dispense with continually trying to pretend that something is false simply because it's not explicitly proven every five minutes. We on the pro-freedom right often wonder why leftists persist in staying on the wrong side of...

Hungary was the only EU country not on the guest list of US President Joe Biden’s Democracy Summit when it was first held in December 2021. The much-touted Summit for Democracy 2023 will begin by the end of this month, on 29-30 March 2023. Will Hungary be qualified to attend the event this year? The humble sandwich is the saboteur of the American diet. Most Americans consume too much sodium, sugar and saturated fat, according to government survey data. Sandwiches—which almost half of Americans eat on any given day—are a primary culprit. Nutritionists, doctors and public-health officials are trying to nudge people to make their sandwiches healthier, believing that even simple changes can improve health. Sandwiches are the number one source of sodium and saturated fat in Americans’ diets, making up about one-fifth of our daily sodium intake and 19% of our daily saturated fat calories, according to an analysis of federal survey data....

Experts are urging caution in the use of life-changing medical treatment for children and adolescents In 2013, the number of children treated annually at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital gender clinic at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland was 16. In 2021, the number was 724 – a rise of about 4500 percent. This is far from unusual. Across the United States and Europe, the number of children and adolescents with gender dysphoria is exploding. No one really knows why. But many specialised gender clinics are offering them life-changing medical treatment – puberty blockers, sex change hormones, and even “gender...

Apparently, the NEO financial crisis (not the subprime, but The Fed’s “too low for too long” crisis is still with us. Credit Suisse Group AG’s top shareholder, whose stake has lost more than one-third of its value in three months, ruled out investing any more in the troubled Swiss bank as a bigger holding would bring additional regulatory hurdles. “The answer is absolutely not, for many reasons outside the simplest reason, which is regulatory and statutory,” Saudi National Bank Chairman Ammar Al Khudairy said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Wednesday. That was in response to a question on...

Sen. John Fetterman’s health is reportedly improving but he could remain hospitalized for up to two more weeks as doctors work to get his medication “exactly right.” “John Fetterman is making progress in his recovery from clinical depression and could leave Walter Reed within next two weeks,” CNN congressional reporter Manu Raju tweeted on Tuesday. “The senator’s physician recently informed him that he will be ‘as good or better than his best days post-stroke,’” Raju added. Fetterman’s lengthy hospitalization at Walter Reed has been the result of his doctors “trying to get his ‘medication balance exactly right,’” according to Raju....

You can't make up stories of incompetence worse than this. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, son of the infamous anti-Semitic playwright and poet Amiri Baraka (formerly Leroi Jones), evidently does not sweat the details when it comes to official duties. His city finally fessed up a few days ago to having been scammed by a notorious international fugitive conman into signing a sister city agreement with a fake nation, complete with a nice ceremony last January 12. (Why a sister city agreement with any nation, fake or real, was seen as appropriate is a subordinate but interesting question.) Barstool Sports explains:...

It’s Washington’s newest guessing game: Who is the unnamed Biden family member who got proceeds from a $3 million wire to Hunter Biden associate John “Rob” Walker weeks after Joe Biden left the vice presidency in 2017? House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) first revealed Monday that bank records obtained via subpoena implicate a “new Biden family member” in the panel’s probe of the first son’s alleged influence-peddling scheme. Comer is expected to reveal the person’s name at some point but has not yet announced specific plans to do so, leaving the door open to speculation about who else...

During a recent interview, Biden shared an “epiphany” he had back in high school that caused him to support gay marriage and LGBTQ rights. However, despite this personal awakening, Biden’s track record shows that he has not always been supportive of gay marriage, and he has changed his stance over the years. “I can remember exactly when my epiphany was,” Biden started. “I hadn’t thought much about it, to tell you the truth. I was a senior in high school, and my dad was dropping me off. I remember I was about to get out of the car, and I...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemMark 10 The Rich and the Kingdom of God17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]”20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept...

Vienna police said that the threat was "non-specific" and that the patrols were a "preventative measure." Vienna police said on Thursday that it had increased patrols due to a general threat of attack against churches. Austria's public security directorate had received indications that an attack with an "Islamist motive" had been planned in Vienna, police said. "You will notice there are currently a larger number of police forces on patrol with special equipment," Vienna's police force tweeted. In compliance with the call issued by certain of our citizens, who desired to inaugurate a Loyal League, which should, in its membership, devote its influence and its power to the suppression of treason, and the perpetuation of the Union, an immense audience assembled at the Academy of Music last night. Tickets of admission, with Union badges, had been furnished to every loyal man or woman who desired then, and we learn that the demand was such that twenty buildings like the Academy would not have sufficed to accommodate them. Thousands of people had gathered about the doors of the...
