A minister has denied the UK government tried to scare the public into following COVID-19 lockdown rules after leaked messages suggest former Health Secretary Matt Hancock wanted to “frighten the pants off everyone” in order to ensure compliance. The latest set of WhatsApp exchanges, published in The Sunday Telegraph, shows how Hancock and other officials discussed using an announcement about the Kent variant of the virus to scare the public into changing their behaviour. The messages, among more than 100,000 passed to the Telegraph by journalist Isabel Oakeshott, also show that Cabinet Secretary Simon Case suggested in January 2021 that...

Former President Donald Trump boldly proclaimed that the Republican Party is “never going back to the party of Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, and Jeb Bush” during his Saturday speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Trump listed numerous “villains and scoundrels” from whom he hopes to liberate the United States, including globalists, communists, and the fake news media. Trump told the CPAC crowd: With you at my side, we will demolish the deep state. We will expel the war mongers. They are people that don’t get it, although in some cases they get it, they get it for their...

ormer Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that the nation needs to move past celebrity candidates for president. Host Shannon Bream asked, “Would a President Pompeo do a better job at managing the defect and debt than President Trump did?” Pompeo said, “I think a President Pompeo or any conservative president will do better than not only we did during the four years of the Trump administration, but Barack Obama, George Bush. The list is long, Shannon, of folks who come to Washington on one theory and, aren’t prepared to stand up...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley on Sunday, but he has not received the warmest welcome by at least one vandal. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, library employees spotted graffiti on one of the library’s entrance signs around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, hours before DeSantis was scheduled to appear to promote his new book. Library staff were able to clean up the graffiti before the Florida governor’s high-profile visit.

To get maybe a ten-minute audience With Trump. It has to do with the critical issue of his VP. I'm look past 2024 (Trump will be elected President) to 2028 and beyond. His VP is critical to the post-Trump era of America. This is a longshot, I know. But my life is nothing if not a series of longshots. Although I'm making myself vulnerable to sarcasm, sarcasm not welcome on this thread, only well-meaning, good-faith, and hopefully effective responses. Thank you.

Texas Tech has suspended men's basketball coach Mark Adams for what the school is calling an "inappropriate, unacceptable, and racially insensitive comment." According to the school, Adams was encouraging a player to be more receptive to coaching and "referenced Bible verses about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters." Adams apologized to the team after he found out the player was upset about the use of the Bible verse, a source told ESPN. Athletic director Kirby Hocutt was made aware of the incident. He issued Adams a written reprimand but then made the decision to suspend the coach to...

May this documentation and message work to bring repentance and salvation thru penitent faith in the risen Lord Jesus, whom the Father sent to be the Savior of the world. Thanks be to God, Amen Note: statistics were what the referenced pages stated when first referenced, but the CDC might revise them, (thus I may sometimes reference archive versions: if a linked page no longer provides sourced material, try it in https://web.archive.org) while it also tends to focus more on ethnicity than among behavior as a class. Finally, as this long work is a piecemeal compilation, and the manner...

Remember the Beatles song, “Day Tripper”? You know, the 1965 tune, forever in rotation somewhere, that includes the lyric, “It took me so-o-o long, to find out. And I found out.” Well, that’s the way I feel about green energy. I found out. Call me slow if you wish, but I can explain. You see, I was always puzzled as to why the greens—starting from the top with Joe Biden and his must-hire from the donor class, climate envoy John Kerry—have been so adamant about “de-carbonizing” the U.S. and yet have been so uninterested when the rest of the world...

Last year, President Biden announced that he would cancel student-loan debts of up to $20,000 for millions of borrowers. While that policy had been under discussion since the first days of his administration, only after the announcement did the administration’s lawyers advance a legal justification for the action—that it came under the 2002 HEROES Act. That law was passed to allow the Secretary of Education to waive or modify student debts for service members or others suffering financial hardships “as a result of wars, military operations or national emergencies.” Biden’s legal team came up with the argument that, since the...

Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Republicans were “trying to keep our schools from teaching black history.” Partial transcript as follows: MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you on the issue set that Democrats are running on, your office told- told us you’re very focused on school board races in Illinois to make sure extreme right wing candidates aren’t dominating them. I’m wondering how strong the Republican ground operation is on things like school boards. Is parents’ rights really something you think Democrats need to be concerned about on a national scale? PRITZKER: Well,...

House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that there were “serious security concerns” over releasing footage from the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot because former President Donald Trump was fanning “the flames of extremism.” Anchor Dana Bash said, “I want to ask you, switching topics for a second, about Fox host Tucker Carlson because he tweeted yesterday that he’s going to begin airing some of the January 6 footage that he was given exclusive access to, he says, by Speaker McCarthy. Has this, as far as you know, been vetted by the...

Washington state, like other liberal areas, has been pushing its citizens to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), and has now discovered one big problem with the change: How does it make up for lost gas tax revenue? As of 2022, residents of the Evergreen State were paying a tax of 49.4 cents per gallon, but with more people going green, less drivers are forking over the cash. What’s the solution? Lawmakers are trying to push a bill through that would saddle motorists with a per-mile Road Usage Charge (RUC).The Pay-Per-Mile Gas Tax ProposalLast week, the state’s House Transportation Committee met...
