Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” in a preview of an interview with network White House correspondent Arlette Saenz, first lady Jill Biden criticized Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s call for politicians over 75 years old to take mental competency tests.

Saenz said, “Nikki Haley, one of the Republican candidates, is calling for mental competency tests for those politicians over the age of 75. What do you think about that?”

Biden said, “It’s ridiculous.”

The problem with that is, they don’t do anything. They simply represent lobbyists and are run by their staffers. Thunder would not be termed out. I would rather see a civics competency test to be allowed to vote.

Obviously Haley is aiming for DJT and using FJB as the worst example possible of an old POTUS.

Seems pretty desperate to me.

No argument there. Problem is, it requires a Constitutional Amendment which requires 2/3rds of each house to approve the limiting of their time at the public trough. I just don’t see that happening.

Yeah, who wants to confirm someone can do their job? Power is all that counts. (i.e. Fetterman)

A competency test for ANY age should be required. Some of the “younger” politicians are NUTS!

Haley is spot on. The whole point of having a representative government requires competency on the part of the elected official. When age and illness remove the ability to competently perform the responsibilities of the office, it is time to bow out and elect a replacement who can perform the duties competently.

Jill is mostly worried about losing the "first lady" gravy train. Joe wasn't fit to serve before he ran.

3 terms for Representatives, with at least a 1 term break between a new opportunity to run.

2 terms for Senators, with at least a 1 (full) term break before they can run again.

12 year term limit for Representatives (not including mandated breakes), after which they cannot run for election to that house.

24 year term limit for Senators (not including mandated breaks), after which they cannot run for election to that house.

That allows for he people to correct a mistake by voting in the opposite direction.
