DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace” on Sunday that when he says the border is secure, he does not mean that people aren’t able to cross the border illegally, because “by that measure, the border has never been secure.” When asked how he can say the border is secure, Mayorkas said, “Right now, the United States has millions of jobs opening due to the economic success of this administration. We have progressed in conquering the pandemic far more than the countries to the south of Mexico, and that makes the United States an appealing place...

In Israel, the legislature is not sovereign to legislate, and the executive lacks actual control to execute the instructions of the legislature. The judiciary has established itself as superior to all other branches of the government; intimating that it knows better what the country needs than the people and their elected representatives. Through almost five decades of Israel’s existence, the courts did not have the authority or the jurisdiction to invalidate a law of the Knesset. In 1995, Aharon Barak, President of the Supreme Court of Israel (1995-2006), decreed that “everything is justiciable,” everything can be done by judges; enabling...

A new Florida bill would make it illegal for dogs to stick their heads out of car windows in the Sunshine State. State Sen. Lauren Book, a Democrat who represents parts of South Florida, introduced the animal welfare bill last week. It would prohibit a dog owner from allowing their pet to "extend its head or any other body part outside a motor vehicle window while the person is operating the motor vehicle on a public roadway." If the bill is passed, dogs must also be on a harness or in a pet seatbelt when traveling in a car.

A cross-bred “super pig” from Canada is poised to wreak havoc on the environment in the United States and must be dealt with aggressively and immediately, a wildlife expert told Fox News Digital. “These pigs are easily the worst invasive large mammal on the planet,” said Dr. Ryan Brook, an assistant professor in the department of animal and poultry science at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. These “super pigs” are actually a cross between a European wild boar and a domestic pig, Brook said. The pigs “cause crop damage, destroy natural environments, get into cities, destroy water quality and...

Researchers have identified a pill used to treat a common skin disease as an "incredibly promising" treatment for alcohol use disorder. On average, the people who received the medication, called apremilast, reduced their alcohol intake by more than half—from five drinks per day to two. "I've never seen anything like that before," said Angela Ozburn. Ozburn and collaborators searched a genetic database looking for compounds likely to counteract the expression of genes known to be linked to heavy alcohol use. Apremilast, an FDA-approved anti-inflammatory medication used to treat psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, appeared to be a promising candidate. The researchers...

Florida fairgoers got stuck upside-down on a ride that malfunctioned at the state fair Friday in a “nightmare” situation that left them thankful to be alive. The attraction, called the Enterprise, does not have safety belts and some riders said they feared they would fall through the open-air carriages as they waited...

Prazosin, a medication FDA-approved for hypertension and used off-label for alcohol use disorder, may help prevent drinking relapse in people with cardiovascular or behavioral symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, according to a new study involving active-duty soldiers. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is prevalent among soldiers. Prazosin reduces the noradrenergic signaling that is key to regulating the brain stress response. Overactivity of the noradrenergic system produces irritability, anxiety, "fight or flight" responses, and sleep disturbance. Noradrenergic activity can increase during abstinence from drinking; consequently, it contributes to mood disturbances, insomnia, and other distressing symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and to the "relief cravings"...
