Erik Lucas, 50, also has a prior battery conviction in Okaloosa County from September 2022. Deputies said a woman was running on Okaloosa Island near Princess Beach when Lucas “confronted her and touched her inappropriately.” Deputies followed a set of footprints and found Lucas hiding in a bush wearing the same clothing described by the victim, according to the post. The woman told deputies she...

The track and its crossover brought him to a whole new level of fame and influence.Perhaps Hank Williams’ most covered song, “Cold, Cold Heart” also brought the singer/songwriter huge success soon after it was released in early 1951. The plaintive ballad didn’t take long to become a cross-genre hit, in spite of its unabashedly folksy style: a young Tony Bennett released a plush, orchestral take on the tune the same year that nearly matched the original in reach and acclaim, prompting everyone from Louis Armstrong to (much later) Norah Jones to follow suit. Williams’ ode to his wife Audrey and...

WASHINGTON - A bitterly divided House on Thursday ousted Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from the Foreign Affairs Committee over past comments about Israel that were widely condemned as antisemitic, as Republicans moved to cater to the demands of right-wing members and mete out punishment to a Democrat their party has demonized for years...

[Image description: Many stars and galaxies lie on a dark background, in a variety of colours but mostly shades of orange. Some galaxies are large enough to make out spiral arms. Along the bottom of the frame is a large, detailed spiral galaxy seen at an oblique angle, with another galaxy about one-quarter the size just beneath it. Both have a brightly glowing core, and areas of star formation which light up their spiral arms.] A crowded field of galaxies throngs this Picture of the Month from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope, along with bright stars crowned with Webb’s...

Because he was such an icon, he was able to have Black artists on TV when they were often not welcomed nor wanted elsewhere.I cannot recall when I first heard the name Ed Sullivan, but it certainly had to have been when I was a ghetto youth coming of age in the 1970s and 1980s. I initially connected his name with music superstars Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and their now legendary appearances on his variety show. I was intrigued by how he introduced musical guests, his mightily distinctive diction, his genuinely low-key demeanor. But I had no clue, truly,...

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada Republicans have officially filed legislation to try again to require identification when voting in person and provide additional steps when voting by mail. Republican Assem. Gregory Hafen II, of Pahrump, introduced the legislation Monday. Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo said in his State of the State Address last month that he would support such a measure. “Signature verification is a time-intensive and cumbersome process,” the governor said in his Jan. 23 speech. “We require people to have a valid form of identification to get on a plane, to operate a motor vehicle or to purchase alcohol...

Pence’s revelations came after sensitive material was found at former President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home, as well as in President Biden’s personal residence in Delaware and his former office at a DC think tank.

Why can’t a Florida Man find a Pay n’ Spray when he needs one? Reinier Lazaro Perez and Dayanly Cutino Gonzalez were spotted behind the Days Inn in Palm Coast Florida. They were spray painting a Peterbilt semi-tractor in the back corner of the parking lot. The hotel is located just off I95, we’ll get back to that. Someone (who obviously can’t mind they own business) thought that someone spray painting a semi truck in the parking lot of a hotel was suspicious. So they called the cops. When Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived the two dropped the cans...

(More on an earlier post) It began with a rumor. Sir Maejor, an ethnically black actor and model with a fair complexion due to albinism, tweeted Monday that “I am being told that Tyre Nichols was in a relationship with and worked at a Memphis @FedEx with #MemphisPolice Demetrius Halys’s ex-girlfriend & baby mama.” Not only that, but “After the beating Officer Halys took a pictures of #TyreNichols face and sent it to his babymama.” The following day, Maejor added a disclaimer in all caps: “THIS IS MERELY SPECULATIONS AND OR A RUMOR AT THIS POINT — THIS INFORMATION HAS...

Ukraine is warning that Moscow is re-grouping hundred of thousands of troops on the border for a massive new offensive, just weeks before the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday gave a stark message to the West when he forecast that the Kremlin was building up its forces to take “revenge.” “Now Russia is concentrating its forces. We all know that. It is preparing to try to take revenge, not only against Ukraine, but against a free Europe and the free world,” Zelensky said at a press conference alongside EU chief Ursula von der Leyen,...

The Supreme Court took the easy way out when it first heard a dispute between Jack Phillips, a baker, and the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Justices sidestepped the fundamental issue, which was whether the state could compel speech from private citizens, and instead impugned the commission's actions by pointing to the bigoted statements that its members directed at Christians . Now the commission is back, persecuting Phillips again. Its case proves that the Left will stop at nothing to force everyone, irrespective of moral objections, to celebrate lifestyle choices of which they disapprove. SNIP He made clear that he was...

The Taoiseach has said he is extremely concerned about the rise of the far-right in this country, adding that anti-refugee protests are “not the Irish way”. Mr. Varadkar confirmed that the refugee crisis and the war in Ukraine were raised during a meeting with European Parliament president Roberta Metsola in Government Buildings. Speaking...
