Multiple Central Florida men have pleaded guilty to being involved in a drug trafficking operation, “Titan Fall,” the U.S. Department of Justice said. A total of 13 men were charged in August with two indictments for being involved in the operation. Members Carlos Alberto Roman, 56; Kenneth Angel Vera, 31; and James Richards Howell, 37, have all pleaded guilty, according to the DOJ. The DOJ said that Roman supplied fentanyl and cocaine to Howell and Vera for resale, and regularly communicated with them. Roman was arrested at his home with 19 firearms, six silencers, three flash-bang grenades, and thousands of...

Senator-elect John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) were included in The New York Time’s list of the 93 most stylish people of the year. The diverse list for 2022’s most fashionable includes a typical host of celebrities — from Kim Kardashian to Beyoncé and Harry Styles — but also some less likely candidates. Fetterman was featured on the list next to a photo of him wearing his traditional uniform: a sweatshirt, shorts and a pair of sneakers. The Times commented that Fetterman would bring the workwear clothing brand Carhartt to Capitol Hill. Pressley was celebrated both for her...

For months now, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been aggressively using his executive power to deny transgender medical care for two of society’s most vulnerable groups—children and the poor. In that, he has been far from alone, as Republicans across the country lean into an ugly backlash against the trans community and the science that supports it. Along the way, DeSantis has been employing a power grab some fear will be adopted by other Republican governors—with disastrous results. As part of DeSantis’ ongoing MAGA crusade against progressives, his administration is simultaneously using different state agencies to cut off what is...

A friend of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and two other women were shot dead Sunday when a man opened fire at a Rome coffee shop. The suspect was overpowered and detained by other residents at the meeting. Arriving police arrested the man. “He came into the room, closed the door and shouted, ‘I’ll kill you all’ and then started to shoot,” one witness said, according to Italian news agency Ansa. The suspect...

People are dying in Australia and the country can’t seem to figure out why. According to a release by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there were 128,797 deaths in the country by August 31, and that is a huge number for Australia. How big? Well, while the mortality rate reportedly typically fluctuates by just about 1-to-2 percent each year, this number marks an increase of about 18,671 deaths and a 17-percent rise above the historical national average.

    WASHINGTON EXAMINER ^ | December 11, 2022 | Jack Birle
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said she has identified one of the "massive" reasons Republicans significantly underperformed in last month's midterm elections. McDaniel said a "massive amount" of ticket-splitting was one of the top factors that led to GOP losses in some key races this election cycle despite winning in other races on the same ballot, speaking with John Catsimatidis on Cats Roundtable on the radio station WABC 77 on Sunday. "Ticket-splitting was everywhere. We won eight races statewide in Georgia, but then Warnock wins the runoff. Ron Johnson wins in Wisconsin, but Evers holds the governorship," McDaniel said....

U.S. aid to Ukraine totals $68 billion, and the White House has just asked Congress for another $37.7 billion. In the spring, the new Congress will consider aid in the context of the administration’s proposed FY 2024 budget. With these decisions ahead, it is worth reviewing how much aid there has been, what that aid does, and what the administration is requesting. Such a review turns up some surprises and will help clarify discussions about future aid packages.Q1: How much aid has there been?A1: Congress has passed three aid packages. The first in March ($13.6 billion) was tacked onto the...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Sunday predicted a significant reduction in inflation by the end of 2023, while also noting the continued risk of a recession. “I believe by the end of next year you will see much lower inflation if there’s not … an unanticipated shock,” Yellen told Norah O’Donnell during an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” “I am very hopeful that the labor market will — remain quite healthy — so that people can feel good about their finances and their personal economic situation,” she added. Yellen also said there was risk of an...

This industrial city an hour north of Indianapolis isn't as famous as Detroit, but it has become an unlikely battleground in the war over electric cars. Almost everyone you meet here either works in a factory, is retired from one or has a relative in a plant that makes parts for gasoline-powered cars — which have ruled Kokomo for nearly 130 years. Yet change is coming. Bulldozers are clearing Kokomo’s cornfields to build a $2.5-billion government-subsidized electric vehicle battery factory, with the aim of retaining jobs tied to auto production at a time California is leading the nation in phasing...

Bout was returned to Russia in a high-profile prisoner swap for basketball player Brittney Griner on Thursday. Jakarta/Hong Kong (CNN) — Indonesia's controversial sex laws will not affect foreign tourists visiting Bali, officials have confirmed in a statement issued Monday. "Based on the provisions of the new Indonesian criminal code, visitors who visit or live in Bali would not need to worry," said Balinese governor Wayan Koster, adding that there would be "no checks on marital statuses at tourist accommodations like hotels, villas, guest houses or spas, or inspections by public officials or community groups." Like most major tourism hotspots around the world, Bali suffered vast economic turmoil during the Covid-19 pandemic. International travelers have been returning...

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol is increasingly turning to the Department of Justice as a potential partner for carrying out its mission once the panel sunsets. The two investigative teams have at times been at odds over the last year and a half, with the panel rebuffing a request from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to share transcripts of its interviews in May. But as it stares down an end-of-the-year deadline, the committee’s tune is changing toward something reminiscent of a high school yearbook: Let’s keep in touch. “If they would want to...

If an owner notices or smells smoke around the dashboard or driver's foot well, they should shut off the engine and call a dealer or roadside assistance. DETROIT — Subaru is telling the owners of nearly 272,000 SUVs in the U.S. to park them outdoors due to the risk of a fire. The company is recalling the 2019 through 2022 Ascents after getting reports of two fires. There were no reports of injuries. The company says a bolt that holds the ground terminal of a heater may not have been fastened properly during assembly. That can cause the terminal and...

RICHMOND, Va. (WVIR) - Richmond’s last remaining Confederate monument is set to come down this week. The removal of the Gen. A.P. Hill statue should begin on Monday. Hill’s remains have been at the site for more than 130 years. They will be reinterred at a cemetery in Culpeper. Plans call for moving the monument to a Black history museum, though Hill’s indirect descendants want it relocated to a former Civil War battlefield. Richmond, the onetime capital of the Confederacy, began removing its Confederate monuments in 2020 amid nationwide racial justice protests.

Elections, like corporations, have books everyone can see to make an election or investment decision… Republicans don’t understand that there are two sets of books…The hidden set of books contains the ballot and phantom and address inventory. These three ingredients win elections… There are great databases out there — for free. When cross-searched at silicon speed, they give a multidimensional view of every address and most people on the voter rolls… There may be two sets of books, but now the good guys can read them both.
