Aid to Ukraine Explained in Six Charts ($68 billion to date with another $37 billion Biden just promised)

U.S. aid to Ukraine totals $68 billion, and the White House has just asked Congress for another $37.7 billion. In the spring, the new Congress will consider aid in the context of the administration’s proposed FY 2024 budget. With these decisions ahead, it is worth reviewing how much aid there has been, what that aid does, and what the administration is requesting. Such a review turns up some surprises and will help clarify discussions about future aid packages.

Q1: How much aid has there been?

A1: Congress has passed three aid packages. The first in March ($13.6 billion) was tacked onto the massive $1.5 trillion omnibus appropriations for FY 2022. The package in May ($40 billion), which contained the major portion of the aid, was a standalone bill. The package in September ($13.7 billion) was attached to the continuing resolution. It was designed to provide aid through December, when Congress will consider full-year appropriation bills. As the chart below shows, the three packages total $68 billion.

On November 15, the administration submitted a new aid request of $37.7 billion which, if passed, would bring the total to $105.5 billion. This new aid package is designed to last through the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2023). However, at the current rate of spending ($6.8 billion per month), this would last until about May. At that point, unless the war has ended or settled into a stalemate, the administration would need to ask for additional money.

Military aid not just hardware, but also include cash funds. According to Colonel MacGregor, the Ukrainians sell some of the arms we give them for cash to other organizations which have a hard time obtaining them from the US (ISIS etc.)

Note that long-term military support consists of FUNDS that the Ukraine CAN use for weapons/security....and Congress just declined to audit how the Ukraine is actually using said funds. And Economic support (15 billion so far, another 10 billion proposed) is part of these generous gifts of taxpayers money, which are funds that go directly to the Ukrainian government. With the history of Biden crime family roots in the Ukraine, as well as other family members of Schumer, Pelosi, (Burisma) does anyone seriously doubt they'll stop stealing money NOW?

So in the chart below, there's cash opportunities in military support (navy blue) and economic support (green) and this is just one way the money escapes auditing. Claim you bought missiles and write yourself a receipt for them and when asked to prove they exist, point out that they were blown up 2 months ago. Rinse and repeat.

Only $20 billion has been delivered so far.

The article does have an estimated spend-out chart that shows that some of the appropriated aid doesn't get delivered until 2026.

Biden and the DC MIC cut-and-ran from Afganistan, because they had milked the “war on terror” for all it was worth, and with a huge new financial opportunity looming in Ukraine, they didn’t want the US citizenry distracted or thinking about the $Trillions that had been poured into Iraq and Afghanistan.

The failure of the administration is they are always doing the bare minimum to help Ukraine.

If in March they had immediately given what Ukraine needed (planes, helicopters, long range missiles). The war would be won by now.

Instead Biden’s incompetent team has forced Ukraine to fight a slow brutal war based on artillery and small arms.

Because that war will last much longer it will cost more than if we have given proper help at the beginning.

Those are guvmint estimates; actual guvmint’s results may vary. (That line is read aloud in a hurried and hushed voice, like car dealer ads)

They can only launder money so fast, ya know.

Whatever they are doing with the money, Ukraine is taking back their territory.

GIBS-ME-DAT mountains of money…. MORE AND QUICKER.

Serious question: How is accounting done for money allocated for 2023/2024/2025 production of new arms and munitions to replace stocks GIVEN TO UKRAINE IN 2022 (by the US and/or its Allies)? Is that counted as 2022 support for Ukraine or is it counted as 23/24/25 support? I ask because Ukraine is sure using it (or selling it) in 2022.

You forgot to add: “...if Russia didn’t respond in like fashion.”

Lucky for American citizens we're all flush with cash AND our country's borders are safe and secure so we have the money to protect the borders of countries that paid off Hunter Biden, half of DC AND the big guy.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine earlier this year, Zelensky has used the war as a cover to target press freedoms, as well as disband an opposing political party. Instead of acting like the leader of a democracy, Zelensky has governed more like the man responsible for invading his nation: Vladimir Putin.

And while it’s understandable for Zelensky to seek assistance from the international community in Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty, it’s completely insane to use every available opportunity to try to drag the West into a nuclear-armed conflict with Russia that would lead to more destruction and loss of life.
