The Kremlin denies it, but right now, it only looks like a matter of time. Russia wants to keep the nuclear power facility in Zaporizhzhia for its own energy needs as well as nuclear hostage in its failing war in Ukraine. The question is whether they can hold it, and for how long. As the New York Times points out, the fallback from Kherson hasn’t bolstered their forces in Zaporizhzhia enough to sustain its seizure in the long run: Following a string of Ukrainian military successes in the south, the Kremlin sought on Monday to tamp down speculation that Russian...

The violence occurred between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 pm. Sunday, according to Chicago police data released Monday morning. In total, there were 24 reported shooting incidents and 31 shooting victims, which included at least four juveniles. Police said at least six people were murdered in the weekend violence. The red wave ebbed into a pink splash. The Democrats are crowing and claiming victory while Republicans look for scapegoats. But what can you expect when it isn't a level playing field, and the non-socialist team is fragmented? During the 2022 campaign, I chuckled while seeing ads where the same Democrats who voted for all of Biden's destructive programs tried to sound reasonable while calling all the Republicans "extremists" for opposing programs that were destroying the economy, the police, and the military. Well funded Democrat ads ran all day, far outpacing Republican ads. At the same time, most news programs...

Thousands of U.S. Border Patrol agents are bracing for a monumental migration event at the southern border with Mexico that is expected to take place when pandemic policy Title 42 ends just days before Christmas , according to six employees who spoke with the Washington Examiner. “Title 42 was a cracked dam. We all know that when it breaks, a huge flood is coming. The flood of people coming in at once will cripple our already broken immigration system,” a senior agent in West Texas told the Washington Examiner this week. “Customs and Border Protection will have no other choice...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The last conversation Sandra Torres had with her 10-year-old daughter was about her nervous excitement over whether she’d make the all-star softball team. Hours later, Eliahna Torres was one of 19 children and two teachers massacred at their elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. With little closure and few answers about law enforcement’s 77-minute wait on May 24 in the school hallway rather than confronting the gunman, Sandra Torres filed a federal lawsuit on Monday against police, the school district and the maker of the gun the shooter used. “My baby never made it out of the school,”...

Chinese TV has been cutting close-up shots of mask-free World Cup soccer fans to avoid angry comparisons with the strict “zero-COVID” clampdowns behind historic protests at home, according to reports. Earlier footage of soccer fans from around the world packing Qatar stadiums without face coverings drew outrage in the nation that remains alone in enforcing draconian lockdowns and forced testing for millions. “Is this the same world as ours?” one Weibo user asked alongside footage, as a viral open letter to Beijing’s National Health Commission asked if China was “on the same planet” as Qatar. Now, as that anger has...

The participants were given diets consisting of either beans, peas, and meat or fish - or white potatoes with meat or fish. David Davies Scientists say they are full of nutrients and if portioned correctly can be part of a healthy diet ******************************************************** A new study has claimed that potatoes could be the key to helping people lose weight. Previously, the vegetable has been linked to an increase in the risk of type two diabetes, those who have insulin resistance have been warned against consuming them. Results from a new study suggest this may not be true. Scientists say they...

The next Covid variant to emerge is poised to be more severe than the mild strains that are currently world-dominant, according to a new study. The ultra-infectious Omicron strain emerged almost exactly a year ago and its mutated spinoffs have risen to the top in virtually every country in the world. They are far milder than the older versions of the virus and many researchers believed they represented a kind of end game for Covid’s evolution, which like many viruses before it, mutate to be more mild so they can spread more easily. But researchers in South Africa say the...

Federal Reserve officials Monday continued to push for higher for longer interest to bring down inflation that is running hotter than previously anticipated. John Williams, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said Monday he expected inflation to moderate, but flagged drivers of underlying inflation, particularly in a red-hot labor market with “rapid” wage growth, as the most challenging. The New York Fed chief forecast core PCE, the Fed's preferred inflation measure, to slow from its current level of 5.1% to between 3% and 3.5% next year, driven by slowing global growth and fewer supply chain disruption. That,...

First Week of Advent Matthew 8:5–11Friends, in our Gospel today, a Roman centurion comes to Jesus and says, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully...I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed." Any objective observer would say, "Well, this is ridiculous! What this man is asking is impossible." He is not only asking that his servant might be cured; he is asking that he be cured at a distance, with simply a word. He’s at the limit of what he could possibly know or...

First column in a series exposing the truth about PizzagateLiz Crokin Jan 15I want to start my Pizzagate series by establishing the fact that pizza has been a known pedophile code word used by predators to operate hidden in plain sight for many years. In October of 2016, when the Podesta E-mails were released, the Urban Dictionary actually had defined “cheese pizza” as child porn. At that time there were two definitions of pizza as a code word for child porn – one from 2010 and one from 2015. So it’s important to note these definitions were established long before...

The Biden administration said Monday that Chinese protesters are right to call for an end to draconian COVID-19 lockdowns — without endorsing widespread calls for Beijing’s authoritarian President Xi Jinping to resign. Videos published over the weekend showed large protests across China in the most significant challenge to Communist Party rule in more than 30 years — with crowds in the capital Beijing and largest city Shanghai chanting that Xi should step down. Some footage showed protests descending into near-riots against police, while in pandemic epicenter Wuhan, protesters removed fencing reportedly intended for lockdowns. “We’ve long said everyone has the...

According to the political website FiveThirtyEight, “the vast majority of election-denying candidates who lost their races have conceded.” They no more deserve applause than would arsonists who, at the last minute, decide to fight the fire that they had set. But unlike these candidates, Kari Lake, the two-fisted, election-denying Republican nominee for governor of Arizona, adamantly refuses to concede even though the Associated Press declared that she lost the election by 17,000 votes. No surprise there because Lake had vowed during the campaign only to accept a result in which she was the winner — in other words, “heads I...
