@marcorubio US Senate candidate, FL We should not have a Senate GOP leadership vote until we have a clear explanation for why our 2022 campaign efforts failed AND until we have a clear understanding of the political & policy direction for the GOP Senate moving forward

With more than 7 in 10 voters stating in an exit poll last Tuesday that they were "dissatisfied" or "angry" about the way things were going in the country, Republicans were expecting a "red wave" or even a "red tsunami" in which the party would retake the House with a substantial majority and the Senate with as many as 54 or 55 seats. That didn't happen, and Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri said Monday it's time to "bury" the old Republican Party and "build something new."

Democrat Katie Hobbs is projected to win the race for governor in Arizona, defeating high-profile Republican Kari Lake after a contentious and down-to-the-wire election. NBC News and CNN both projected the race for Hobbs on Monday night. The victory is the latest major win for Democrats in what has turned out to be a surprisingly good midterm election for the party. While the race was always seen as competitive, Lake came out slightly ahead of Hobbs in most recent polling. The Republican also got heavy media coverage in the final weeks of the election, while Hobbs was scrutinized for refusing...

On this date in 1226, Count — although he had been stripped of this title — Frederick of Isenberg, a German noble, was broken on the wheel for the murder of his cousin, the Archbishop of Cologne. The proximate cause of the dispute between the two was said to have been Frederick‘s exploitation for his own benefit of an abbey he administered, to which the Archbishop, Engelbert of Berg, took exception. Underlying the conflict are the the outlines of power politics in fractious medieval Germany. Engelbert was an aggressive and effective Archbishop, and the power he won for his diocese...

It has been revealed that embattled Arizona's Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer and Supervisor Chairman Bill Gates in 2021 started a political action committee to stop MAGA candidates. On November 17, 2021, Meg Cunningham from the Kansas City Beacon tweeted that Richer, "the Maricopa County recorder, is launching a PAC to support Rs running for non-federal AZ offices who 'acknowledge the validity of the 2020 election and condemn the events of Jan. 6, 2021, as a terrible result of the lies told about the November election.'" Richer retweeted her saying, "Thanks to a few generous donors this is now launching....

I wrote earlier about the dustup between Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Elon Musk but there are a few more points that I wanted to hit on. Markey blamed Musk for a Washington Post reporter impersonating Markey with a fake account with a blue check mark. Now, I wrote about some of the confusion created by the Twitter Blue subscription, by people getting blue checks by paying for the service. Yes, that created some questions and Musk suspended the service to work out the kinks and reports are that it will likely be coming back next week. While Markey wanted...

CASPER, Wyo. — The record for the world’s longest uninterrupted chain of beard has been broken by at least 80 feet. Facial hair enthusiasts gathered at Gaslight Social, a bar in Casper, Wyoming, to see if they could beat the Guinness World Record set in 2007. With the required minimum 8-inch beard, the competitors stood side by side at the bar with beards attached. The completed beard chain measured 150 feet long,..

An old video of Barack Obama has emerged that shows the former president boasting that “we got Democrats in charge of the [voting] machines.” The newly-discovered old video appeared of Obama giving a campaign speech at Kent State University during the 2008 election. Obama sought to ease concerns about potential Republican victories by telling the crowd of Democrat voters in Ohio that they needn’t worry. He explained that Democrats control the election voting machines in Ohio. The then-Illinois U.S. senator continued by claiming that Republicans “have monkeyed around with elections in the past” before admitting that “sometimes Democrats have too.”...

Who voter for him and why? Please explain to me why did you vote for him? You got to be dumber than him to vote for him, and if you're dumber than him you probably shouldn't even be voting. I know you didn't understand a word he said. If you voted for Fetterman, whatever this man's name is, Fetterman, Featherman however you say it, don't move to Texas, please. No, no, no. Stay there, okay? We might pay you to stay where you are. Don't ever move to Texas and vote here, please don't!

Pima County dumped another batch of election day ballots today, favoring Katie Hobbs 58.08% to 41.95% for Kari Lake, and the total number of outstanding ballots actually increased! This election is being rigged and stolen, just like in 2020. At 12 pm, it was reported that Pima County had 38,874 outstanding ballots. But before 6 pm, it was announced that 24,304 ballots were tabulated, and the number of ballots remaining actually increased to 39,129! Can you believe it? It was then just reported that another 7,394 ballots were dumped, and the number of remaining ballots dropped sharply to 7,427. This...

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said Monday on FNC’s “Special Report” that former President Donald Trump was losing his influence on the Republican Party. When asked about Trump losing his grip on the GOP, Hume said, “Well, I have thought for some time – and there’s polling on this that reflects this – that while he maintains real influence within the Republican Party, no two ways about that, but it has begun to fade. It started fading, really, I think, after his antics post-election in 2020, that a great many people with him perhaps up until then began...

1. I don’t want to get on a soapbox, but … It’s time to start looking at the mess in College Station strictly from a value standpoint. Where is the value now at Texas A&M? In coach Jimbo Fisher, or the players he recruited? Because if you decide it’s with the players and not the coach — as the mounting empirical evidence continues to suggest — the simple decision is saving face or saving a program. No one wants to admit they’re $86 million wrong. But if you’ve decided value is with the players, how can you not try to...

No peace pipe for Republicans from Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Now that Democrats have "won" the Senate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) is on the warpath. In a Sunday op-ed for the New York Times, she went into full-frenzy, writing this: If Republicans take the House, their majority will be stacked with election deniers who have embraced one overriding goal: the restoration of Donald Trump as president in 2024. They believe economic chaos weakens President Biden, so they are itching to use their leverage to hurt working families. This is the same strategy Republicans used after the 2010 midterms when they set...

Will the nations listen and address the longer-term impacts of climate change? When the 2022 Climate Change Conference (COP27) concludes this week in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, thousands of civil society groups, including faith-based organizations (FBOs), would have done their best for the global poor without glitter and fanfare. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has recognized that participation and access of non-government organizations (NGOs) allow vital experience, expertise, information, and perspective from civil society to be brought into the negotiations to generate new insights and approaches. Some 6,300 NGOs have observer status to attend the Climate...

NUSA DUA, Indonesia — A highly anticipated meeting between China's leader Xi Jinping and President Biden finished Monday with both leaders expressing an openness to restoring channels of communication and repairing a relationship that has been compared to a second Cold War. The leaders of two superpowers met face-to-face and unmasked on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, on Monday evening. In a substantial meeting, they touched on the war in Ukraine, military tension in the Taiwan Strait and North Korean missile tests. Biden said he and Xi were "very blunt with one another." Xi,...

Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs is planning to challenge House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy for the GOP nomination to be speaker of the House when the caucus convenes Tuesday to choose its nominee, GOP sources said Monday evening. "Andy Biggs will be a candidate," said Rep. Bob Good of Virginia. "He will announce tomorrow." Good, like Biggs, is a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, which has been divided on whether McCarthy deserves their support. Good said he would support Biggs' candidacy.

Racing down the German Autobahn at a self-chosen speed is over for bishops from the Protestant Church of Germany. The Synod decided on Wednesday that the church leaders have to set a good example of sustainability. When driving to church events, bishops are not allowed to drive faster than 100 kilometres an hour on highways. That is reported by Religion.orf. On country roads, they should limit their speed to 80 kilometres an hour, the Synod decided. By taking it slower on the roads, the bishops should set a visible example of how people can reduce their greenhouse emissions. The rule...

On Monday it was revealed that top Maricopa County election officer Stephen Richer, who helped to oversee elections in Arizona, donated to the far-left "resistance group" PatriotTakes. PatriotTakes is a hybrid pack that describes itself on Twitter as a group of "dedicated researchers monitoring and exposing right-wing extremism and other threats to democracy." ... Data available on the Federal Elections Commission's website shows that Richer donated $40.00 in July of this year. Previously, Richer had launched a PAC in 2021 to stop MAGA candidates .... Last week, during Tuesday's midterms elections, Richer was forced to apologize due to Maricopa County's...
