Racing down the German Autobahn at a self-chosen speed is over for bishops from the Protestant Church of Germany. The Synod decided on Wednesday that the church leaders have to set a good example of sustainability.
When driving to church events, bishops are not allowed to drive faster than 100 kilometres an hour on highways. That is reported by Religion.orf. On country roads, they should limit their speed to 80 kilometres an hour, the Synod decided. By taking it slower on the roads, the bishops should set a visible example of how people can reduce their greenhouse emissions. The rule does not apply when bishops drive for private matters.
As the Church sets the rule, the police will not fine bishops who violate it. Therefore, the Synod requested the church office to start a public campaign that should stimulate the church leaders to self-commit to the speed limit.

Ha! Those dudes all have big, expensive Benzes and aren’t going 1 kph below 200, no matter what the secularized authorities demand. :)
The Synod decided on Wednesday that the church leaders have to set a good example of sustainability...
YES, because it’s clearly stated in the Bible...
smh.
How about getting back to SUSTAINING SOULS.
You know, like what you’re supposed to be doing.
What? Naaaaa.... I’m pretty sure they take a vow of poverty.
Exactly!!!!
Oh, thank God! You’ll never know how much better I’ll sleep at night knowing the church leaders have solved this most important of human problems. Now they can move on to lesser problems like ridding the church of apostate priests and the “gender confused” among the clergy.
Driving 100km/h (62mph) on the Autobahn is a death wish.
100 kph is about 62 mph. These folks will never get to church on time now.
How fast do the heavy trucks run?
Slow. And that gets really dangerous. The highways with two lanes on either side are the worst when trucks are on them. They all sit in the right lane and occasionally just pull out to pass whenever, slowing everything else and making people in the left lane slam on their brakes. The tremendous speed differentials on those roads make for horrendous crashes when they happen.
Waiting for their album “Ich kann nicht fünfundfünfzig fahren” to drop.
100 kilometres an hour
how much is that in MPH?
From personal experience driving 100kph (63mph) is itself unsafe. Too slow for the cars, too fast for the trucks.
200km is approx 125mph. So I dispute your claim; because there are plenty of other vehicles on the autobahns.
