The internet this week is full of election projections and Elon Musk's moves to clean up Twitter. Starting with the last item – Twitter -- he’s just discharged 2700 employees, saving the company hundreds of millions of dollars in wages and perquisites, fired the board and made himself its sole member. A number of woke corporations, including General Mills and Volkswagen, have cancelled their Twitter ads. Musk seems to be interested in following a suggestion that he list all those cancelling companies which are trying to starve him of revenue so that consumers can decide if they wish to keep...

The complexions of the division races in the SEC changed dramatically on Saturday. No. 3 Georgia easily beat No. 1 Tennessee to take control of the SEC East and likely assume the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings on Monday. And No. 10 LSU took down No. 6 Alabama in dramatic fashion in a 32-31 overtime victory after the Tigers went for two.

Scarborough on the black Republican Herschel Walker: When I see Herschel out there, I actually see that as a tragedy for Herschel and his family. He doesn't belong there. He's been pushed out there by power -- by Donald Trump. He's not ready for primetime. And he keeps saying things that are just absolutely humiliating....He's not fit for the job. Not qualified for the job. And, and, and doesn't, [deep sigh] he doesn't have the capacity to effectively be a United States senator." Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Joe Biden wasn’t progressives’ first choice for the White House in 2020. And he wasn’t their second or third, either. But defying expectations, liberal Democrats have emerged as the president’s most loyal allies in Congress during his first two years in office, helping to pass a massive COVID-19 relief package, a historic investment in American infrastructure and billions of dollars to combat climate change. Their alliance was as fruitful as it was unlikely. And it could soon be put to the test. Democrats are bracing for losses in Tuesday’s elections that could cost them their majorities in the House and...

Home Depot workers in Philadelphia rejected the first store-wide labor union at the world’s largest home improvement retailer Saturday night, a loss for a fledgling movement to organize at major U.S. companies. Workers voted 165 to 51 against forming a union representing 274 employees at the store, WHYY-FM reported. The National Labor Relations Board oversaw the voting. A board spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request from The Associated Press for information about the vote. The defeat for the organizers, who sought to join Home Depot Workers United, could discourage activist workers who have successfully formed the first unions...

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Joe Biden appears ready to pressure Japan and the Netherlands even more to join efforts to block the flow of advanced chip technology to China, where it could be used to develop cutting-edge weapons. "I think you will see Japan and Netherlands follow our lead," U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on CNBC Thursday. While no specifics were mentioned, this appears to be the first time that a high-ranking U.S. official has named specific countries when speaking about cooperation on the export curbs. Since October, the Biden administration has, in effect, banned trade with China in...

The secret British intelligence plot to blow up Crimea’s Kerch Bridge is revealed in internal documents and correspondence obtained exclusively by The Grayzone. The Grayzone has obtained an April 2022 presentation drawn up for senior British intelligence officers hashing out an elaborate scheme to blow up Crimea’s Kerch Bridge with the involvement of specially trained Ukrainian soldiers. Almost six months after the plan was circulated, Kerch Bridge was attacked in an October 8th suicide bombing apparently overseen by Ukraine’s SBU intelligence services. Detailed proposals for providing “audacious” support to Kiev’s “maritime raiding operations” were drafted at the request of Chris...

NEW DELHI -- Recent mass conversions to Buddhism by Indian Dalits have underscored anew the fears and frustrations of a community of about 200 million people considered to be at the bottom of the traditional Hindu caste system. "We refuse to be punished any longer," said Ramji Lal, 34, who attended a conversion event in New Delhi on Oct. 5. He was one of a crowd of around 8,000, according to organizers, who made a point of leaving Hinduism. Such conversions are seen as a protest by people commonly known as "untouchables" due to their descent, leading to a life...

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokaev signed a series of laws that limit the powers of the head of state, APA reports citing Perild. This package of laws was adopted as a result of the republican referendum held in June this year on amendments and additions to the Constitution. The amendments provide for the reduction of certain powers of the president in relation to local executive authorities (now the president will be able to appoint heads of cities and regions only with the approval of local deputies). The so-called “presidential quota” in parliament is being reduced, and certain restrictions are being...
