Prosecutors with the Department of Justice (DOJ) claimed former President Donald Trump’s team may still be holding onto allegedly classified records following last month’s raid on his Mar-a-Lago property. They made the allegation in a court filing Thursday in arguing against the appointment of a special master, or an independent third party, to review the documents that were taken during the unprecedented search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last month. Earlier this week, a federal judge sided with Trump’s team in granting their request for a special master. “The injunction against using classified records in the criminal investigation could impede efforts...

Concerns about the state of the economy come with worries about job security. In fact, half of companies are expecting to cut staff according to a PwC survey of more than 700 executives. The same survey found many executives are also planning hiring freezes and even rescinding job offers. But many companies have already trimmed their workforce. Here are the sectors facing layoffs in this week’s Five For Friday.#5: Mortgage and real estateThe housing market has cooled after the COVID-19 pandemic-induced smorgasbord over the last few years. This falls under the category of too good to check. As Ed Morrisey pointed out this morning, the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the east seems to be shaping up as a genuine disaster for Russia. Blaring headlines such as “US bans ‘advanced tech’ firms from building facilities in China for a decade” and “China’s zero-Covid policies are crippling its economic outlook” distract from more mundane but arguably more important corporate news coming out of China. Those new developments include the start of production at BASF’s new industrial complex in Zhanjiang and the final commissioning of ABB’s state-of-the-art robotics factory in Shanghai, big new European investments that buck the trend of US “decoupling” with China. On September 6, BASF announced the inauguration of the first manufacturing plant at its Zhanjiang Verbund industrial complex in China’s southern...

Democrats in and out of Congress and every leftist propagandist in the media are now a committed Marxists. They no longer even pretend to respect or value the Constitution. They are now pushing Critical Race Theory as if their lives depend on promoting outright racism as the essence of America. CRT teaches hatred and victimhood; it is the antithesis of our founding principles. Our Marxist left supports BLM and Antifa as well, anarchist groups to whom they've given free rein to riot, loot, and burn down countless cities and businesses. The Marxist left is on board with the campaign to...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency Friday, Sept. 9, after polio was found in more wastewater samples. The executive order will immediately expand the network of polio vaccine administrators with the addition of EMS workers, midwives, and pharmacies. It also authorizes doctors and certified nurse practitioners to issue standing orders for polio vaccines, the governor's office said. Under the order, healthcare providers are also required to send polio immunization data to the New York State Department of Health, which will help local health agencies better focus their vaccination efforts where they are needed most, officials said....

I’m sure the idea of Democratic hypocrisy did not originate with him, but Tucker Carlson expressed it perfectly this summer when the “nonviolent” left was threatening to stab Mitch McConnell in the heart because he didn’t support gun control: “Almost everything the left says these days is projection. They accuse you of exactly what they’re doing.” The Democrats even have a goon squad to shut down dissent — whether it is the loud, bullying tactics of the celebrity left or the fists and sticks of the masked Brown Shirts called Antifa. They will hurl invective, insults and bricks at anyone...

Steve Bannon was indicted on Thursday in relation to charges concerning the “We Build the Wall” effort by the New York Attorney General’s office. But Bannon appeared on the Charlie Kirk show on Friday and he made some concerning remarks about efforts by the Biden FBI against Trump allies. Bannon said that we saw from Biden’s “demonic” anti-MAGA speech that this was the “primal scream” of a “dying regime.” Bannon claimed there were “35 FBI raids” on senior MAGA/Trump allies.BREAKING: Steve Bannon drops BOMBSHELL revealing 35 senior Trump allies were raided by Regime FBI yesterdaypic.twitter.com/BEHPlUBmue— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) September 9, 2022Bannon...

A Florida woman named Tupac Amaru Shakur was arrested for allegedly attacking an elderly man with a baseball bat while he sat on a bench outside of a hospital in her home state. The 34-year-old woman, who shares the exact same name with the iconic California rapper, appeared before a Miami-Dade County judge on Wednesday, WPLG reported — exactly 26 years after the artist was fatally shot in Las Vegas in 1996. Shakur — the accused criminal — allegedly hit the man “several times” with the bat outside of Hialeah Hospital around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to an...

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Friday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Abraham Lincoln’s Republican Party has become the “authoritarian cult of Donald Trump.” Raskin said, “Financial crime follows in Donald Trump’s wake. As you know, I’ve argued for a long time that Trump really should’ve been impeached the first time for his rampant violations of both the foreign and domestic emoluments clause as he was raking in millions of dollars from foreign governments and also taking money from domestic federal departments and agencies at the hotels and golf courses and so on. It has always been a scheme for self-enrichment...

IN HIS FINAL days in the White House, Donald Trump told top advisers he needed to preserve certain Russia-related documents to keep his enemies from destroying them. The documents related to the federal investigation into Russian election meddling and alleged collusion with Trump’s campaign. At the end of his presidency, Trump and his team pushed to declassify these so-called “Russiagate” documents, believing they would expose a “Deep State” plot against him. According to a person with direct knowledge of the situation and another source briefed on the matter, Trump told several people working in and outside the White House that...

Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich blames decades of racism for the water crises in Jackson, Mississippi; Flint, Michigan; and West Baltimore, Maryland. I wonder, what do the leaders of those three cities all have in common? Reich declared that the “legacy of segregation” and “decades and decades of racism and neglect” have led to water crises in all three cities. Racism, the nameless, faceless specter that simply looms over the city, is responsible for all of these troubles, according to Reich. There is simply nothing that can be done, apparently.

So what can explain the depth of feeling, the palpable sense of loss and regret, in this superpower ex-British colony across the Atlantic at the death of Queen Elizabeth II? Familiarity has something to do with it. Like most Britons, the great majority of Americans have never known any other British monarch; Elizabeth had met on equal footing with every president since Harry Truman. Fame, and its cousin celebrity, is a factor as well: Her birth was news during the Coolidge administration; and when, in the middle of the Great Depression, her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated to marry an...

It's available year-round, but most people would probably consider candy corn to be Halloween candy.
