Bed Bath & Beyond exec Gustavo Arnal didn’t say a word to his wife before apparently leaping to his death from their swank, 18th-floor apartment in Lower Manhattan, The Post has learned. Arnal, 52, also didn’t leave a note explaining the plunge, which occurred while his wife was in the home with him around 12:20 a.m. Friday, law-enforcement sources said Sunday.

Biden and the White House leaned into that Thursday night with an unusual prime-time address that broke no news or made any big announcements. Instead, Biden took the opportunity to elevate Trump and make it a choice between what Biden and Democrats stand for and MAGA Republican extremism, as he sees it, and their rising influence in positions of power throughout the country. The NPR Politics Podcast "I believe America is at an inflection point," the president said in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the same city where he launched his 2020 presidential campaign, "one of those moments that...

If you spend any time on Twitter, you have to notice that liberals are getting more and more strident. The desperation is palpable. I don’t like living in what feels like one of the case studies of backsliding democracies I read about in my comparative politics class. — David Hogg ☮️ (@davidhogg111) September 4, 2022Why do Republicans LIE all the time about things — both big and small? — Jon Cooper (@joncoopertweets) September 4, 2022Anti-woman = anti-American — Rep. Today's Gospel reveals that Christ must come first in our lives. In that we must revolve around Christ as our center, and not just as a center, but a center we must love more than ourself. Hillary Clinton started wearing pantsuits — now considered her fashion signature — after "suggestive" photos were taken of her in a skirt during her time as first lady. In a new interview with Norah O'Donnell for CBS Sunday Morning alongside daughter Chelsea, the former presidential candidate shares that she switched up her style after visiting Brazil on a state visit in 1995. Clinton wore a cream skirt suit during her visit, in which photographers shot her from below. "I was sitting on a couch, and the press was let in. There were a bunch of them shooting up," the former...

Former Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Charlie Dent on Saturday said former President Trump’s speech at a rally on Saturday night in the Keystone State was a “major gift” for Democrats. “Most Republican candidates don’t want anything to do with Donald Trump in this general election. They want this to be about Joe Biden and the Democrats, but to the extent Trump inserts himself into this conversation, he’s giving the Democrats a major gift right now,” Dent said on CNN.

[Catholic Caucus] The Rehabilitation of Disgraced Cardinal Roger MahonySan Diego Bishop Robert McElroy was elevated to cardinal last weekend, a significant snub to Jose Gomez, the archbishop of Los Angeles, a much larger see than San Diego whose head typically receives a red hat. As if Gomez hadn’t been humiliated enough, McElroy chose Cardinal Roger Mahony, the disgraced former archbishop of Los Angeles, as one of the concelebrants at his first mass as cardinal. During the previous pontificate, Gomez had tried to sideline Mahony for his monstrous role in protecting molesting priests. Gomez said that Mahony would “no longer have...

If Serena Williams did indeed drown her sorrows with the noise of her own voice by going to a karaoke booth after losing her maybe or make-believe goodbye game at the US Open, it is probably just as well. If, instead, she had turned to social media in search of buckets more of the delirious deification which cascaded onto that twirling head in the Arthur Ashe stadium, those tears would have turned from 'happy' to horrified. By no means everyone, it transpires, subscribes to the worshipful cult of adoration upon which Queen Serena was transported from Flushing Meadows to evolution....

CNN analyst Van Jones opined that "coming into Labor Day weekend, you are starting to see the beginnings of what could be a blue wave. The disastrous Afghanistan exit, runaway inflation, the growing ineffectiveness of the covid vaccines, and murder rates not seen since the 1990s are just fading memories. Democrat voters will rally to vote for the Party's traditional values—more abortions, more income redistribution, higher taxes, LGBTQ rights, and clean energy. Don't be surprised when you see a bigger Democrat majority in the House and Senate after the votes are counted in November." He went on to dismiss complaints...

Reduced calorie intake has been shown to improve health and lifespan in laboratory animals, and recent research shows these benefits may extend to humans as well. Researchers show that moderate calorie restriction in people reduces the production of a protein called SPARC, which then reins in harmful inflammation and improves health in the aged. The study, led by Vishwa Deep Dixit, follows a study published earlier this year that identified key health benefits of moderate calorie reduction in humans. Dixit further analyzed data from a clinical trial funded by the NIH. In the trial, known as Comprehensive Assessment of Long-term...

Frightening footage shows the moment brazen thieves rammed a SUV on to the sidewalk and stole $20,000 in cash from its driver at gunpoint on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The dramatic scene shocked bystanders on Second Avenue between 91 and 92 streets around 4:40 pm Saturday, when two cars came speeding down the wrong side of the road against traffic, in an apparent high-speed chase. The video clip captured by a bystander shows the car being driven by the victim, a Silver Toyota Rav-4, zooming down the avenue at high speeds, before it is overtaken by black Mercedes-Benz being driven...

More than a dozen states are debating whether to adopt California's plan to ban new gas cars by the year 2035. Several of the 17 states are likely to move forward with the plan, including Washington, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon and Vermont. California's restrictions are the strictest in the country, mandating that all new vehicles run on either electricity or hydrogen by 2035. The mandate is facing fierce pushback in states like Minnesota, where the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association argues the weather prohibits the use of solely electric vehicles.

The pace of fighting is intensifying as the war in Ukraine stretches into its seventh month, with Ukraine seeking to exploit Russian weaknesses in the south and Moscow signaling that it might reinforce its troops in the east to renew its stalled campaign. Ukraine’s military has imposed sweeping restrictions on journalists as its forces mount a counteroffensive to retake territory seized by Russia in the south of the country. The Russians have leaped into the void, trying to characterize the counteroffensive — one week in — as a failure, without providing evidence to support the claims. “The Russian presentation of...

The man accused of kidnapping billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher was recently released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for a similar crime. Cleotha Abston, 38, was arrested and convicted in 2000 for the kidnapping of Memphis attorney Kemper Durand. Ask anyone who shops at Costco (COST) what they think of it and you'll probably hear exuberant praise, along with a list of the great deals they scored on their last visit. More than 111 million people pay an annual membership fee just to get in the door, with fewer than 10% each year who decide the experience isn’t worth the price of renewing. To some, shopping at Costco is close to a religious experience, which might explain why Sunday is its busiest day. For others, going to the warehouse is like going on a treasure hunt. They may be...

A 9-year-old boy was killed and at least 10 people were seriously injured in a Russian rocket strike in the southern Ukrainian town of Zelenodolsk as Ukrainian forces have pushed their counteroffensive in the south of the country. The news of the rocket strike Saturday came as a report from Conflict Armament Research, an independent armed conflict investigation group based in Britain, revealed that Russia has been using outdated foreign technology in its advanced missiles systems and helicopters. Valentyn Reznichenko, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk province, said in a statement to Telegram that Russian forces fired Uragan rockets at Zelenodolsk...

The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence said in an intelligence update on Sunday that Russian forces in Ukraine have likely not received combat bonuses, hampering morale. “Russian forces continue to suffer from morale and discipline issues in Ukraine,” the ministry said in a Twitter thread. “In addition to combat fatigue and high casualties, one of the main grievances from deployed Russian soldiers probably continues to be problems with their pay.” It said that Russian troops receive a modest salary and a variety of bonuses and allowances, noting the combat bonuses have not been paid since the beginning of the invasion...
