Sunday Mass Sermon- The Fair-Weather Fans of Jesus
Word on Fire Ministry ^ | 9.4.22 | Bishop Robert Barron

Posted on 09/04/2022 12:40:33 PM PDT by MurphsLaw

Today's Gospel reveals that Christ must come first in our lives.
In that we must revolve around Christ as our center,
and not just as a center,
but a center we must love more than ourself.
A smack to the back of the head that we CANNOT be disciples of Christ
unless we kill the ego, the "I" or the "me"

The Fair Weather Fans of Jesus

TOPICS: Catholic
KEYWORDS:
Today's Gospel of "hating" our family members is not only difficult-
but is Christ telling us what we must do
- and if we aren't willing to,
what we cannot expect from him.

The thinking that the only thing one needs
is to just "accept Jesus into their heart"
is clearly, and harshly, dismissed in Today’s Gospel.

In my sermon today I made the distinction between salvation and discipleship. Salvation is free for the asking; discipleship costs everything.

The word “renounce” in the Greek is a form of the word apostasy. An apostate renounces the church for the sake of the world; a disciple renounces the world for the sake of Christ and His church. Put another way, we can have, but we cannot own; all that we have and are is owned by Christ, or we cannot be His disciples.

“You will own nothing and be happy” is correct if AND ONLY IF the one who owns it all is Christ. That is why Leftist lies are the highway to hell.

What a hypocrite. Boobie Barron is the perfect example of a fair-weather friend of Jesus:

Is Jesus Christ the ‘privileged way’ to salvation—or the only way?

It is therefore alarming, to say the least, that a bishop of the Catholic Church would think, let alone say multiple times in a public venue, that Christ is the “privileged route” to salvation—as if there are multiple paths, and those who believe in Christ are taking the speedy Interstate while others are trudging along on country roads or bike trails.

It's no wonder that Boobie has been bumped up from auxilary bishop to bishop by Bergoglio, along with his fellow heretics, Cupich, McElroy, Nighty-nite Tobin and Wilting Gregory to the college of cardinals.

Do you believe and accept the dogma that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church?

Yes or No?

Settle down Ebb.
Jesus is not bound by humans as to whom he chooses to save.
Btw...
did you ever figure out if Bonhoeffer was going to heaven- or the other place?

So you have figured it out, Murph? Who are you to make judgements in God's place?

Barron has poisoned weak souls like yours.

Well the Church has declared Dismas to be a saint; not Bohoeffer. But I guess you know better than the Church.

Like I said, Barron has poisoned weak souls like yours who reject the Catholic dogma of "extra Ecclesiam nulla salus".

YOU post FREQUENTLY pro-RCC CRAP.

I OPPOSE your “church” on SOLID hermeneutical ground.

SINCE YOU post your crap so frequently, EXPECT my OPPOSITION. I am not stalking you - I OPPOSE other losers just like you. Get used to it.

You know full well you are regularly OPPOSED by eight or ten other Freepers.

So, use your protective “Catholic Caucus” shield or expect to hear from me.

I would be a bit confused if I were to hear this in the pew.

You say you make what you call a "distinction" - but I think what I am reading is really a "distinction" without a difference.

I mean that I don't see the two things you are comparing as to be of the same.(hence the noting "without a difference")- aside from both having a spiritual component.

I can see and get where you are "contrasting" a "costing" ...
One cost is free - and one costing much more - but I don't think are distinct from each other. From that, couldn't one tease out an "Optional" quality for the act of discipleship.

That is how I am a bit confused in the wording. Maybe its just me.

Have you read Bonhoeffer's book on Discip;eship? - and if so, do you agree that Christ calls us to disciples, and by refusing that call we are not considerable as even "Christian" then?
