  • Batman Confirmed as Bisexual? Is DC Outing Bruce Wayne this Week?

Are Batman editor Ben Abernathy and writer Chip Zdarsky outing Batman this week? This possibility was first teased 16 months ago, but in Batman the Night #8, out this week, Bruce Wayne is apparently confirmed to be gay, bisexual, or at least bi-curious as a youth. Reader suspicions began in Batman: The Knight #5 which saw Bruce share a moment with his teammate Anton. The two looked into each other’s eyes, hinting at a potential kiss between the two before they were interrupted.

Democrats are once again meddling in a GOP primary — this time in a competitive New Hampshire House district, with the goal of elevating a far-right candidate over a moderate backed by GOP Gov. Chris Sununu. The intervention in the race to take on Democratic Rep. Annie Kuster comes from an unlikely source: Democrats Serve, a new PAC that backs Democratic candidates with public service backgrounds. The group has booked some $94,000 on cable TV to boost Bob Burns, a pro-Trump Republican who is campaigning as the “only pro-life candidate” in the Sept. 13 primary. Snip Burns has raised far...

Insider and several other news organizations have identified 71 members of Congress who've recently failed to properly report their financial trades as mandated by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012, also known as the STOCK Act. Congress passed the law a decade ago to combat insider trading and conflicts of interest among their own members and force lawmakers to be more transparent about their personal financial dealings. A key provision of the law mandates that lawmakers publicly - and quickly - disclose any stock trade made by themselves, a spouse, or a dependent child. But many members...

Several new studies reveal rising rates of anxiety and depression linked to the climate crisis. As the symptoms of the climate crisis worsen, researchers have begun to look beyond the physical and economic costs of heat waves and other extreme weather events to consider the emotional toll of these events on youth. Several recent studies have confirmed that worries about the climate crisis, and frustration over how governments are dealing with it, have had widespread mental health impacts. One landmark survey on young people released in 2021 determined that nearly 60 per cent of respondents were “very worried” or “extremely...

California’s Legislature passed a bill Monday to create a government panel that would set wages for an estimated half-million fast food workers in the state, a first-in-the-U.S. approach to workplace regulation that labor union backers hope will spread nationally. The bill, known as the Fast Act, would establish a panel with members appointed by the governor and legislative leaders composed of workers, union representatives, employers and business advocates. They would set hourly wages of up to $22 for fast food workers starting next year and can increase them annually by the same rate as the consumer-price index, up to a...

Police sources told FOX 5 NY's Linda Schmidt the teen was trying to climb on top of a subway car when he fell off. Then a northbound R train hit the teen and severed an arm. The NYPD said the boy was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He was listed in stable condition.

Just this past weekend, ten 100-year-old pennies sold for a whopping $1.1 million at an auction held by an Irvine-based auction house. Now that is a good return on investment. The coins were sold Sunday night during an auction by GreatCollections. “The ten pennies were specially struck proof coins made for collectors by the United States Mint in Philadelphia in the early years of the Lincoln cents. All are still in pristine, mint red condition and sold for a combined total of $1,113,174,” the auction house said. This Lincoln penny, specially made by the United States Mint in Philadelphia in...

Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday night claimed there would be “riots in the streets” should former President Donald Trump be prosecuted for improperly handling classified documents, a saga which culminated in the recent FBI raid on his Florida mansion. The South Carolina Republican also detailed his belief that there’s a “double standard” in federal enforcement “when it comes to Trump.” “Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him,” Graham told Fox News Host Trey Gowdy during an appearance on Sunday Night in America. Graham also cited claims the FBI...

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden will deliver a prime-time address “on the continued battle for the soul of the nation” Thursday outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the White House announced Monday. Billed as a major address just over two months before the midterm elections, Biden, the White House said, will discuss how the nation's standing in the world and its democracy are at stake. “He will talk about the progress we have made as a nation to protect our democracy, but how our rights and freedoms are still under attack," the White House said. "And he will make clear...
  • More ‘monster fish’ on the loose: sightings of alligator gar emerge in 8 Chinese provinces after a pair caught over weekend

Sightings of alligator gar - dubbed “monster fish” in mainland China - which authorities fear could trigger an ecological disaster have been reported in at least eight provinces. This followed the draining of an entire lake in central China on the weekend that eventually caught a pair of the invasive fish species. The large species of freshwater fish, which has razor-sharp teeth and can grow up to three metres long, has captivated the nation after a high-profile, month-long hunt for it that culminated in the draining of an entire lake in the city of Ruzhou in Henan. Now other parts...

The media can’t stop talking about Donald Trump, which makes two groups happy: Democrats, and Donald Trump. You can argue that this is the administration’s strategy, that the Mar-a-Lago raid was as much a political ploy as a legal proceeding. But Trump, as he always done, has used his legal troubles to raise even more money, call for the ouster of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and relitigate the 2020 election. President Biden’s team couldn’t be more thrilled. For every moment that the conversation is about Trump, or Trump demanding fealty from fellow Republicans, is a moment not spent talking...

For Chris Rock, returning to the 2023 Oscars would be like returning to the scene of a crime. The 57-year-old comedian told a Phoenix comedy show audience on Sunday that he was asked to emcee next year’s event — but declined the opportunity. According to the Arizona Republic, the “Everybody Hates Chris” alum told the crowd that going back to the Oscars would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant” where she left her eyeglasses before she killed, in a reference to the murder trial of O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted in the case.
