Megan Thee Stallion has become the latest Glastonbury star to hit out at the US Supreme Court's historic overturning of the Roe V Wade ruling as she took to The Other Stage at the festival. In an expletive-laden rant, the rapper insisted she 'doesn't support this ****' in response to the court's ruling, which ended the constitutional right to abortion in the US, meaning individual states could decide whether the procedure can be made illegal. Megan is among several stars who have been outspoken in opposing the court ruling, with Olivia Rodrigo bringing Lily Allen on-stage to perform her hit...

Short answer: Of course not. Neither Kavanaugh nor any other justice would pledge privately to rule a particular way in a future case. To do so would be unethical.…although Kavanaugh did pledge *publicly* to rule a particular way in certain future cases in yesterday’s Dobbs concurrence.Longer answer: If this NYT story is accurate, he strongly implied to Collins that he wouldn’t dump Roe. “Lie” is too strong a word, but you can understand why she feels misled.Jazz has a post coming up about the political predicament in which Collins now finds herself. She’s one of two pro-choice Republicans left in...

Dr. Naomi Wolf, Steve Bannon, and Toby Rodgers recently highlighted a dangerous new plan Covid vaccine producers have to ensure that the vaccines can be changed without any clinical trials required. The Covid-19 vaccines were already formulated in such a hurry that the end dates for the studies on safety and effectiveness were set for months or even years after the vaccines were rolled out (makes sense why the FDA says they underwent “the most intensive safety monitoring in U.S. history,” right?). But this lack of data, this lack of knowledge about what a vaccine will do to people—this attitude...

Friday’s momentous Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v Wade has leftist politicians screaming, news anchors sputtering, and Twitter on fire, with both sides of the debate weighing in. All these loud voices, yet few of them seem to have read the opinion. What does it actually say?The final opinion was written by Justice Samuel Alito and is mostly similar to the draft that was leaked in May. The opinion ruled on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which centered on a Mississippi law that banned abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Arguably the most important line in the ruling comes on...

The Christian Reformed Church Synod has declared that its historic stance on sexual ethics, particularly the practice of homosexuality, has "confessional status." According to The Banner, a monthly magazine published by the Christian Reformed Church in North America, 69% of the denomination's representatives voted last week to affirm the definition of "unchastity" in the Heidelberg Catechism to include homosexual acts. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts cites the horrendous Korematsu and Plessy v. Ferguson cases as profiles in judicial courage to right the wrongs of the past. But when given a chance to right an unconstitutional wrong on abortion, he wimped out. When the draft Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked in May, the vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and its replacement, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, was at 5-4. After Friday’s decision, it’s still 5-4.Roberts is the man who refashioned the “taxing power” of Obamacare so he wouldn’t have to spike the first black...

During his roughly hour-long, thunderstorm-shortened speech, Trump was typical Trump, airing his false grievance about the “rigged” 2020 presidential election that he lost, jabbing at President Joe Biden’s handling of the inflation-savaged economy and rejoicing at Friday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning the 49-year-old Roe v Wade abortion-rights case. But the biggest Illinois-centric news to come from Trump’s rally was his decision to finally make a splash in the state’s gubernatorial primary three days ahead of the election, where Bailey appears to be holding a commanding lead.

Maybe San Franciscans aren't as blindly left as they appear to the rest of the country. First, Democrat mayor London Breed had to backtrack on defunding the police when faced with the reality of what happened after the police were defunded. Crime increased...a lot. Then the public recalled members of the school board who were more interested in pushing ideology than keeping schools open. Democrat district attorney Chesa Boudin didn't see or refused to see what was happening in his city. Residents grew tired of his failure to go after criminals and enforce laws. Boudin, a political newcomer, took office...

I predicted previously that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would not affect the outcome of the upcoming midterm Congressional elections. I still stand by that prediction, now that the Supreme Court has handed down its ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson. Nevertheless, folks on both sides of the aisle appear to believe that this development could increase Democrats’ chances of avoiding a total shellacking in November. Now that Republicans have succeeded in overturning Roe, some have surmised that this could be a pyrrhic victory that comes back to haunt them later. Republican strategists told Politico that they are concerned that...

(Reuters) -Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Saturday said Ukraine would win back all the cities it had lost to Russia, including Sievierodonetsk, and admitted the war was becoming tough to handle emotionally. In a late-night video address, he also said Ukraine had been hit by 45 Russian missiles and rockets over the previous 24 hours, which he described as a cynical but doomed attempt to break his people's spirits."Therefore all our cities - Sievierodonetsk, Donetsk, Luhansk - we'll get them all back," he said.It was the only time in the address that he mentioned Sievierodonetsk, which finally fell to Moscow's forces...
