The Christian Reformed Church Synod has declared that its historic stance on sexual ethics, particularly the practice of homosexuality, has "confessional status." According to The Banner, a monthly magazine published by the Christian Reformed Church in North America, 69% of the denomination's representatives voted last week to affirm the definition of "unchastity" in the Heidelberg Catechism to include homosexual acts. The vote occurred at Synod 2022 at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. CRC has over 1,000 congregations across the United States and Canada and over 230,000 members. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts cites the horrendous Korematsu and Plessy v. Ferguson cases as profiles in judicial courage to right the wrongs of the past. But when given a chance to right an unconstitutional wrong on abortion, he wimped out. When the draft Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked in May, the vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and its replacement, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, was at 5-4. After Friday’s decision, it’s still 5-4.Roberts is the man who refashioned the “taxing power” of Obamacare so he wouldn’t have to spike the first black...

During his roughly hour-long, thunderstorm-shortened speech, Trump was typical Trump, airing his false grievance about the “rigged” 2020 presidential election that he lost, jabbing at President Joe Biden’s handling of the inflation-savaged economy and rejoicing at Friday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning the 49-year-old Roe v Wade abortion-rights case. But the biggest Illinois-centric news to come from Trump’s rally was his decision to finally make a splash in the state’s gubernatorial primary three days ahead of the election, where Bailey appears to be holding a commanding lead.

Maybe San Franciscans aren't as blindly left as they appear to the rest of the country. First, Democrat mayor London Breed had to backtrack on defunding the police when faced with the reality of what happened after the police were defunded. Crime increased...a lot. Then the public recalled members of the school board who were more interested in pushing ideology than keeping schools open. Democrat district attorney Chesa Boudin didn't see or refused to see what was happening in his city. Residents grew tired of his failure to go after criminals and enforce laws. Boudin, a political newcomer, took office...

I predicted previously that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would not affect the outcome of the upcoming midterm Congressional elections. I still stand by that prediction, now that the Supreme Court has handed down its ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson. Nevertheless, folks on both sides of the aisle appear to believe that this development could increase Democrats’ chances of avoiding a total shellacking in November. Now that Republicans have succeeded in overturning Roe, some have surmised that this could be a pyrrhic victory that comes back to haunt them later. Republican strategists told Politico that they are concerned that...

(Reuters) -Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Saturday said Ukraine would win back all the cities it had lost to Russia, including Sievierodonetsk, and admitted the war was becoming tough to handle emotionally. In a late-night video address, he also said Ukraine had been hit by 45 Russian missiles and rockets over the previous 24 hours, which he described as a cynical but doomed attempt to break his people's spirits."Therefore all our cities - Sievierodonetsk, Donetsk, Luhansk - we'll get them all back," he said.It was the only time in the address that he mentioned Sievierodonetsk, which finally fell to Moscow's forces...

NATO needs a more “visible” presence in the Baltics to counter the threat Russia poses from Belarus, Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda warned on Friday. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has prompted a discussion within the transatlantic military alliance about how to best defend its eastern members, with leaders gathering in Madrid next week set to sign off on new plans. Speaking ahead of the summit, Nausėda told POLITICO that “very huge fundamental changes” in neighboring Belarus make Lithuania more vulnerable to a quick Russian attack — and necessitate a shift in the region’s security arrangements. The Lithuanian leader said he would...

Hulu’s Life & Beth star Michael Rapaport reacted to the U.S. Supreme Court overruling Roe v. Wade on Friday, proclaiming that Christian women and girls who get raped will “regret” the ruling. “You’ll learn,” the actor declared. “You reap what you sew, you sick *****.” “All these sick, fake evangelists and right-wing cooks, pro-life freaks, dudes that are excited about what happened with Roe v. Wade act like they don’t get women pregnant on accident, like they don’t break condoms on one night stands. You’ll regret it,” Rapaport said. Watch Below: “And all you women, evangelists, right-wing freaks act like...

"constructive majorities" The words coming from President Emmanuel Macron Friday following the failure of his "Moderate Centrist" coalition to win a majority in the National Assembly elections. Macron reaching out saying he wants to find majorities on a case by case basis he even met with National Rally leader Marine Le Pen in search of common ground. On paper Macron is short of the 289 seat majority (His coalition has 245). But Macron has groups like "Les Republicans" who at the end of the day are mainstream politicians willing to cut deals to advance the usual agendas like "climate change"....

JERUSALEM – In a series of highly unusual actions, the U.S. State Department and world leaders waded into the bitterly contentious domestic dispute over Friday's Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion. "As Secretary of State, I usually avoid commenting on Supreme Court rulings," America’s top diplomat Antony Blinken announced in a statement. "But today’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade has raised understandable questions and concerns across the world and within our [the Department of State’s] workforce." Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, also took the Supreme Court to task for its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women’s Health...

Thousands of pro-abortion protesters gathered outside Philadelphia’s City Hall on Friday night after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The pro-abortion activists reportedly gathered at Philadelphia’s City Hall and marched towards Independence Hall and back to show their frustration with the Supreme Court’s decision. Some protesters held signs that read “my body, my choice,” while others sang, “we want justice.” One protester criticized congressional Democrats for not taking action to codify Roe into law before the Court overturned it. “They’ve had 50 years to codify it into a real law versus just a Supreme Court decision,” one protester told...

A sophisticated spyware campaign is getting the help of internet service providers (ISPs) to trick users into downloading malicious apps, according to research published by Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) (via TechCrunch). This corroborates earlier findings from security research group Lookout, which has linked the spyware, dubbed Hermit, to Italian spyware vendor RCS Labs. Lookout says RCS Labs is in the same line of work as NSO Group — the infamous surveillance-for-hire company behind the Pegasus spyware — and peddles commercial spyware to various government agencies. Researchers at Lookout believe Hermit has already been deployed by the government of Kazakhstan...

Urgency and emotion hung over the thousands of people who gathered at Dolores Park, then took to the streets for the city’s 19th annual Trans March on Friday. Wade, and months of anti-trans legislation taking hold in dozens of states across the country

File this one under, Everything Is Racist. As you might imagine, Nicolle Wallace's MSNBC show on Friday was one, long, primal scream in reaction to the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade. But one of Wallace's guests took things in an absurd-yet-predictable direction. Michele Goodwin, a professor at UC Irvine, somehow managed to tie the decision to—of course—Jim Crow, and yes, slavery. Here was Goodwin: "We are still linked to the vestiges of slavery, and we see that in ways that are all around us in the United States with the rise of white supremacy which is also tied...

MSNBC’s resident historian Michael Beschloss lost his mind as he reacted to the Supreme Court’s ruling that struck down Roe v. Wade. On Friday’s installment of The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle, he accused the Court of throwing acid in people’s faces, pushing the country towards an “almost civil war on the issue of abortion,” all because they can. Ruhle was upset that the Court did not consult polling data before issuing its opinion when she asked, “you know who doesn't have to fight aggressively or get reelected? Supreme Court justices…So, when we keep hearing about how unpopular this is...
