The U.S. House of Representative's Oversight Committee, one of Congress' top investigative arms, recently requested that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Commanders owner Daniel Snyder testify at a hearing Wednesday regarding workplace misconduct inside the Washington franchise. One of them has officially declined the invitation, with Axios reporting last week that Snyder will not attend the hearing over concerns he and his lawyers have over "due process." The Washington Post then reported that Goodell has accepted the invitation to testify, although he will appear remotely. On Friday, the committee's chairwoman, Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), wrote a letter trying to get Snyder...

For much of baseball history, batting practice hasn't evolved much beyond 75 mph fastballs down the middle...Now, a wave of smart pitching machines are giving hitters a chance to practice against the type of major-league quality stuff they will actually have to hit in games, sparking a hush-hush race to optimize batting practice.

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- In Garland, Texas, on 3 May 2015, Gregory Stevens, a veteran police officer with the Garland Police Department, was working off duty as armed security for the “Draw the Prophet” cartoon contest event. Pamela Geller organized the Draw the Prophet event as a response to Islamic demands that Western Civilization submits to Islamic censorship. The particular demand was no one would be allowed to draw images of the Prophet Mohammed or to mock him or make fun of him. The infamous attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris had occurred just five months earlier, by two Islamists...

The transgender teenage explained that she wishes to take her mother's last name to distance herself from her dad. Food insecurity is rising globally because of the war in Ukraine, according to experts, with Africa expected to be hit the hardest. The world’s superpowers, China and the U.S., say they are trying to mitigate the fallout but at the same time are accusing each other of exacerbating the crisis. A state newspaper, The China Daily, placed blame for the situation partially on Washington, saying: “Food prices have reached an all-time high, as Russian and Ukrainian grain exports are hindered by port disruptions and Western sanctions.” The U.S., for its part, has accused China of hoarding, after President Xi Jinping...

The title of this article may sound like some sort of alarmist doom porn from people who are warning about the downstream impacts of the green new deal, but it’s actually quite serious. The statement that there will probably never be another new oil refinery built in the United States came from Mike Wirth, the CEO of Chevron and a person who should know a thing or two about how the oil and gas industry works. We previously examined the reality that we are heading for devastating shortages of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel because of the number of oil...

Short answer: Probably not.Longer answer: Probably not, and even if it has, it might not be dangerous enough to do real damage given how much immunity the population now has.I wrote about the new Omicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, a few weeks ago. Early indications are that they’re more contagious than the current dominant subvariant in the U.S., BA.2.12.1, which is more contagious than the original Omicron, which was itself insanely contagious. Worse, because natural immunity from Omicron appears to last only a few months, a prior infection is no real defense to BA.4 and BA.5. In fact, the two...

Days after Russian forces occupied the southern Ukrainian city of Berdyansk, residents gathered in the main city square with Ukrainian flags to sing patriotic songs and tell the troops looking on to go home. The protests grew daily. Soon, Russian forces stopped them, as part of a monthslong campaign of coercion, threats, propaganda and violence aimed at crushing Berdyansk’s resistance and bringing the seaside city under Russian rule. The fate of Berdyansk and other cities under occupation now depends on how long Russian forces remain in control of southern Ukraine, where Kyiv troops have already launched counter offensives. Ukrainian authorities...

Next Tuesday, New Yorkers head to vote in their state primary, and will pick their nominees for governor, among other races. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) currently lead their party's primary races, according to an Emerson poll conducted earlier this month. Assuming that is the ultimate match-up come November, it's possible that New York State may have a Republican governor for the first time since Gov. George Pataki, who was first elected in 1994 and served for three consecutive terms. While it may seem like a long-shot, considering that the state has been dominated by Democratic governors,...

A large study has found that people with a prior heart attack or diabetes are more likely to have gum disease than their healthy counterparts. "This was an observational study and does not imply causal relationships," said study author Dr. Ida Stødle. "However, the findings raise awareness about the correlations between chronic illnesses which affect large numbers of people. This knowledge may help efforts to prevent these diseases." Non‐communicable diseases are becoming increasingly common as populations age and there is growing evidence that they are connected. Gum disease, also called periodontitis, affects up to half of all adults worldwide. This...

More than half a dozen affordable housing projects in California are costing more than $1 million per apartment to build, a record-breaking sum that makes it harder to house the growing numbers of low-income Californians who need help paying rent, a Times review of state data found. The seven subsidized housing developments, all in Northern California, received state funding within the last two years and are under construction or close to breaking ground. When completed, they will provide homes for more than 600 families. But their exorbitant price tags mean that taxpayers are subsidizing fewer apartments than they otherwise could...

Lung function declines with increasingly severe gum disease, according to research. "Our study indicates a link between periodontal disease and lung function meaning that good dental hygiene may benefit both oral and respiratory health," said study author Dr. Anders Røsland. The average age of those with severe periodontitis was 55 years and 59% were men. Smoking was significantly more common in people with moderate or severe periodontitis compared with the healthy/mild group. Lung function was assessed using spirometry, which measures the volume of air exhaled from the lungs and the flow rate of air. The researchers measured forced expiratory volume...

Two events in the last few days–Lithuania’s decision to prevent the transit of Russian supplies for Kalinigrad and the Ukrainian missile attack on a Russian oil platform in the Black Sea–may be the tipping point for Russia in shifting to a War strategy rather than continue with the Special Military Operation. Let me explain. The Special Military Operation, besides the stated goals of demilitarizing and denazifying Ukraine, consisted of restricted rules of engagement. Russia did not destroy all communication infrastructure and networks. The internet remained operational in most parts of Ukraine. Cell phone towers and power grids were not targeted and...

UVALDE, Texas — On Monday, KVUE and its news partners at the Austin American-Statesman exclusively obtained surveillance footage from inside Robb Elementary School on the day of the May 24 shooting. The footage shows that multiple officers were inside the building with rifles and at least one ballistic shield, 19 minutes after the gunman arrived. They didn't enter the classroom the shooter was inside for nearly another hour. Investigators believe this will prove to be a significant development as it indicates they had more than enough firepower and protection to enter that classroom before they actually did. Authorities have since...

American Airlines is ending service to three cities due to a 'regional pilot shortage' as thousands of frustrated customers are battling flight cancellations and delays. An American Airlines spokesperson told DailyMail.com on Monday the company 'made the difficult decision' to drop service to airports in Toledo, Ohio; Ithaca, New York and Islip, New York beginning September 7. The airline cited a pilot shortage currently affecting the entire airline industry. American is allegedly contacting customers scheduled to fly after the route termination date in an effort to 'offer alternate arrangements.' The airline also said it is 'extremely grateful for the care...

A news story has been circulating lately, more on social media than mainstream. Nothing unusual there. It seems that Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley was in rehab in 2020, and part of her therapy was to keep a diary, perhaps recounting her thoughts on what problems caused her lifelong addictions to sex and substance abuse. In this diary, she postulated that being hypersexualized at a young age, engaging in sexual activity in her youth, and taking showers with her father, may have contributed to this sad problem. She annotated her mention of showering with her father as “probably not appropriate”, but...
