The House select committee investigating the Capitol insurrection continued on Thursday, detailing how former President Donald Trump tried to pressure his vice president to join in his scheme to overturn the presidential election — and how Mike Pence’s refusal put his life in danger as rioters called for his hanging on Jan. 6, 2021. “Mike Pence was 40 feet away from almost certain death,” Michael Medved, host of the Michael Medved Show, said on the Gee and Ursula Show on KIRO Newsradio. “Some of the the videos that they played about people who were very determined to kill Mike Pence,...

A chorus of prosecutors, gun legislation advocates, law enforcement officials, and corporate shareholders are calling on global credit card giants Visa and Mastercard to stop facilitating payments for “ghost guns,” or untraceable, easy-to-assemble firearm kits that are often sold over the internet. Visa and Mastercard, which process 75% of all credit card transactions in the United States, have so far refused to do so. Mastercard’s board unanimously recommended that shareholders vote against a new proposal that calls on the company to take action. “Payment processors like MasterCard absolutely have the ability to restrict transactions related to ghost guns on their...

Bill and Hillary Clinton both suggested that American democracy is teetering on the edge of existence in a pair of separate interviews. The pair both said the government as we know it is at risk after the third January 6 committee hearing and a new poll saying a majority of both Democrats and Republicans believe America will 'cease to exist' as a democracy. Former president Bill told CBS's The Late Late Show host James Corden on Wednesday night that he fears the United States could 'completely lose our constitutional democracy'. Hillary painted a similarly bleak picture in an interview with...

A lot of Republicans are ignoring the hearings being produced by the House Democrats' Jan. 6 committee. Maybe "ignoring" is too strong a word. They're just not paying attention — it's not on their radar screen. They know Democrats and many in the media are very excited about the hearings, but they also know — and they're right about this — that the hearings are a fundamentally political exercise. In the short run, Democrats hope the hearings will help revive their troubled political fortunes for this November's midterm elections. In the long run, Democrats hope the hearings will somehow disqualify...

IntelSlava "Judging by the frequency of statements by Western and European countries about providing Ukraine with modern weapons, in this country every baby should already be in full combat gear and have a personal tank in the sandbox. But in reality, the situation is such that every prisoner we come across complains about weak weapons." "Apparently, while foreign aid settles in the pockets of the command, the rank and file is forced to fight for the authorities without normal ammunition and even elementary dry rations. Therefore, cases of voluntary surrender by Ukrainian soldiers have sharply become more frequent recently....

President Joe Biden called assertions that his spending policies have been a cause of the skyrocketing inflation "bizarre." When asked about how his American Rescue Plan's substantial spending might have exacerbated the economy and pushed inflation into high gear, Biden waved away the accusation. "You could argue whether it had a marginal, minor impact on inflation. I don’t think it did," Biden told the interviewer. "And most economists do not think it did. But the idea that it caused inflation is bizarre."

China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday uncorked a furious tirade against “infamous U.S. Republican anti-China senators Marco Rubio [R-FL] and Rick Scott [R-FL]” because they dared to introduce a bill called the China Oil Export Prohibition Act, which would halt American exports of oil and petroleum products to the People’s Republic of China while the U.S. struggles to get soaring fuel prices under control. “While gas prices soar across the country, the Biden Administration is allowing half a million barrels of American oil to go to China every day. This is unacceptable. We need to increase American oil production and...
