ijing told Tokyo not to go along with U.S. and U.K. plans to expand NATO's presence in the Asia-Pacific region. China loves lecturing the world about what is right and wrong in geopolitical affairs. One week it is preaching to the Philippines, the next day it advises Japan and on the third day it is lecturing all of the above. Last week, China's lecture was directed to Japan. Beijing was telling Tokyo that it "shouldn't be a promoter of NATO's Asia-Pacific expansion." It came as Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met Thursday with the...

Like Pompeo, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has lined up behind McCormick in the May 17 Pennsylvania primary, which recent polling has suggested is close. Cruz joined Mandel on the campaign trail in the final stretch of the race, even mocking Republican candidates for talking too much about Trump. Meanwhile, former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley appeared in a new TV ad this week for Rep. Nancy Mace, who is facing a challenge from the Trump-backed Katie Arrington in the June...

Many women find out they were mothers too late. I don’t mean an accidental pregnancy. I mean, they learn that they were mothers after they aborted the baby they were told was a clump of cells. This discovery causes great distress for all but the most amoral and sociopathic. Women are shocked to learn that they cannot forget the decision they made in haste, or by coercion, or by brainwashing. The body doesn’t forget. The subconscious remembers everything. Even the humblest woman makes an indelible mark on the future by becoming a mother. She influences a future generation, one child...

Urine diversion could be the future of loos. Posh Swiss toilet manufacturer Laufen has a toilet called Save. You use it as you would any other toilet, with one gender caveat. Before the flush, the urine runs down the front of the gleaming ceramic bowl to be diverted to a separate pipe. So men and boys have to sit down to pee. A greener loo with less mess. What’s not to love? Urine diversion is being trialled around the world. Sanitation codes are being rewritten to turn a pollutant into a resource. Environmental consultant Feidhlim Harty ends his book Septic...

PJ’s Rick Moran revealed recently that the chief of America’s new Thought Police, Disinformation Governance Board executive director Nina Jankowicz, brings a peculiar wealth of experience to her new job: she falsely claimed in 2017 that Republicans funded the notorious Steele Dossier that was a central element of the Russian Collusion hoax, and she insisted that Hunter Biden’s laptop was a “Trump campaign product.” So it’s clear: this is an individual who knows all about disinformation. She also brings a certain enthusiasm to her Disinformation Governance Board job, as is clear from a video Tucker Carlson broadcast Thursday, in which...

President Joe Biden will deliver remarks on inflation Tuesday, a White House official said, as his administration looks to further address one of the key economic concerns for voters heading into November's midterm elections. "He'll detail his plan to fight inflation and lower costs for working families, and contrast his approach with Congressional Republicans' ultra-MAGA plan to raise taxes on 75 million American families and threaten to sunset programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid," the official said in an email. A CNN poll released last week found 8 in 10 US adults said the federal government wasn't doing enough...

This weekend, first lady Jill Biden is traveling in Eastern Europe, meeting with Ukrainian refugees, humanitarian aid workers and others impacted by Russia's war in Ukraine. As the Biden administration continues to express its unwavering support for Ukraine's battle to preserve its independence, the first lady's trip is another opportunity to demonstrate America's commitment to Ukraine. It also will serve as an important reminder to all American and NATO allies that US commitment to Ukraine will extend well into the postwar period -- whenever that might be. Jill Biden's first ladyship is a long way from cookie bake-offs and state...

Fourth Sunday of Easter John 10:27-30 Friends, our Gospel reading today is extremely short, but it is packed with theological and spiritual significance. We hear first of a voice: “My sheep hear my voice.” How wonderful and strange that Christianity is not a set of ideas. It’s not a philosophy or an ideology. It’s a relationship with someone who has a voice. The first disciples were privileged to hear the voice of the historical Jesus, its very particular tonality and texture. But we hear his voice too, in our own way, when we hear the Scriptures proclaimed at Mass. Mind...

While there are many government aid programs available for people experiencing poverty, filling out the paperwork is usually the hardest part. In 1995, Congress passed a bill called the Paperwork Reduction Act to reduce the amount of government forms that need to be filled out by people and nonprofit organizations, especially if they are filling out forms for multiple kinds of government agencies. Nearly three decades later, many people still find the process of applying for government aid daunting. Insider spoke with four mothers who receive different forms of government aid to see what it's really like.

WASHINGTON — As President Joe Biden ramps up his efforts to help Democrats in the midterm elections, he’s focused on a selling point that, so far, voters aren’t: his plan to rebuild the country’s infrastructure. Standing in an industrial building near the Port of New Hampshire last month, flanked by construction and boating equipment, Biden talked dredging, bridges and lead pipes.

Product tanker owners Ardmore, INSW, Scorpio see scramble for diesel supplies Retail gasoline prices in the U.S. are up 45% year on year. Diesel used by American truckers is up 75% and just hit an all-time high. But this is not just an American problem. Pain at the pump is global. And so-called product tankers — ships designed to transport cargoes such as diesel, gasoline and jet fuel — are in prime position to profit. Fuel flows globally to where it earns the highest return. Case in point: As U.S. diesel prices have skyrocketed, American exports of diesel have surged,...

A Wisconsin anti-abortion group said Sunday someone tossed a Molotov cocktail into its Madison office and spray-painted a message outside reading, "if abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either."
