The drone strike on Snake Island has not been confirmed but footage and images have been shared by a Ukraine military expert on Twitter and in a satellite image taken by Planet Labs, published by the Associated Press news agency on Saturday, May 7. Ukraine Weapons Tracker, @UAWeapons, wrote that: “A Ukrainian Bayraktar TB-2 drone strike struck and destroyed what appears to be Project 11770 Serna-class landing craft, again at Snake Island.”…

Democrat-turned-Republican congressional candidate Vernon Jones told Newsmax on Friday that he switched parties to stand up to the radical left and is standing with Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., to call out fake Republicans that ''talk like Ron DeSantis but walk like Mitt Romney.'' ''We’re looking for some true conservatives. Those who would fight for our freedoms. Fight for the Constitution. That would stand up and oppose and take on that liberal mob,'' Jones said on ''The Chris Salcedo Show,'' where he appeared with Mooney. ''You cannot fight with one hand behind your back. You have to go all-in on them...

Like the return of the undead, woke math has come back to haunt California's classrooms and make it even harder for the state's struggling students to receive a quality education. Last year, the California Department of Education released the first draft of a new curriculum framework for K-12 mathematics, which would guide teaching in the classroom. The first draft was widely criticized for politicizing math instruction by inserting "environmental and social justice" into the math curriculum, having students solve "problems that result in social inequalities," and rejecting the notion that math is a "neutral discipline." Because of intense backlash, including...

In his run for governor of Nebraska, Charles W. Herbster is doing his best imitation of former President Donald J. Trump. His 90-minute stump speech is packed with complaints about illegal immigrants, stories boasting of his business triumphs, a conspiracy theory connecting China, the coronavirus pandemic and the 2020 election, and denials of the recent accusations that he’s groped women at political events. He even vows to clean up the “swamp” — but he means Lincoln, the state capital. Like his political role model — and chief backer — Mr. Herbster is proving to be a one-man political wrecking ball....

Posted on May 2, 2022May 2, 2022 by Msgr. Charles PopeLove on the Move: Of the Divine “Dance” In the Holy TrinityThere is a kind of tension in some of the imagery we use for God. On the one hand we call Him the “Unmoved Mover.” We also say that God is everywhere. If He is everywhere then there is nowhere for him to go, no need for Him to move because He is already there. Yet we also speak of “processions” in the Trinity.St. Thomas artfully and with precision speaks of the Trinity and the two “processions” as Gentori...

September in Iowa is a beautiful time. Summer’s heat is gone, tree leaves turn gorgeous Fall colors, and days are getting shorter. Pregnant, 19-year-old Helen Blair walks up to the front door of the venerable old building standing at 814 Pierce Street, Sioux City, Iowa. Nervously, she reaches out and places her hand on the doorknob. “Should I do this or not?” was foremost in her mind. Helen knew she could not take care of a baby. She is just too young and totally short of resources. The father of her baby is taking no responsibility for the pregnancy, so...

May 7th 2022 3rd Saturday of Eastertide Sakitsu Catholic church, Nagasaki, Japan Readings at MassLiturgical Colour: White First readingActs 9:31-42 ©The churches grew and were filled with the consolation of the Holy SpiritThe churches throughout Judaea, Galilee and Samaria were now left in peace, building themselves up, living in the fear of the Lord, and filled with the consolation of the Holy Spirit. Peter visited one place after another and eventually came to the saints living down in Lydda. There he found a man called Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. Peter said to him, ‘Aeneas,...

In April, I had the privilege of attending Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s signing of first-in-the-nation legislation banning Critical Race Theory in public schools and employee training. Throughout Covid-19 lockdown insanity, Governor DeSantis led the way on evidence-based, commonsense policies in the best interest of Florida citizens. Now, with the signing of HB 7 and other strong and necessary laws, Governor DeSantis is once again demonstrating leadership that should inspire other governors and serve as the model for standing up to the woke agenda. While California Governor Gavin Newsom is requiring a divisive “ethnic” studies program in order for California students...

Cast your minds back to 2019, just before COVID brought the world to a screeching halt. The world was a better place then, wasn’t it? For some, sure. For the actor Jussie Smollett, not so much. On January 29, 2019, as you may recall, Smollett told police officers that he was attacked outside his apartment by two men in ski masks. The perpetrators of this supposed hate crime racially abused Smollett. Clearly not familiar with the fact that they were in Chicago, very much a blue city, the men reminded Smollett that "this is MAGA country.” The criminals then proceeded...

Source: Mikhail Klimentyev, Sputnik, Kremlin Pool Photo via A“ROME?—Pope Francis said that the “barking of NATO at the door of Russia” might have led to the invasion of Ukraine and that he didn't know whether other countries should supply Ukraine with more arms” reports the Wall Street Journal. “Since February, Pope Francis has deplored the suffering of Ukrainians and denounced the invasion but refrained from explicitly naming Russia as the aggressor…In Ukraine, it was other states that created the conflict,” Pope Francis said in the interview. No such “objectivity” seemed to influence the Castro-hailing Pope Francis when expounding on former...

Tesla founder Elon Musk's mother spoke out against The New York Times this week after the newspaper claimed in a recent story that her son was "detached from apartheid’s atrocities" during his youth in South Africa. The Times promoted the story Thursday morning on Twitter, where it also suggested Musk was "surrounded by anti-Black propaganda" as a child. She also pointed out that Musk was just a child and should not be held responsible for the actions of his government. "@nytimes are you going to blame children for decisions made by governments?" Maye Musk asked. Her tweet was in response...

Totally blind to their illiberality, false “liberals” have for many decades made it their business to convince (hoodwink?) Americans into believing that in order for America to “move forward” we need to dump what it was established for: a nation of representative government, whose citizens hold ultimate power. The venue for this propaganda has been TV, the press, the schools, the workplace, and the churches. Funding has been provided by globalists, outside and inside our borders – a history suppressed and now quite saddled by a “Ministry of Truth.” (Who, for infamous example, has not heard of the self-appointed global...

For my work in corporate social responsibility, I was recently reading The Great Transformation, Karl Polanyi’s critique of capitalism, when something he wrote gave me one of those really uncomfortable “Aha” moments. Polanyi was discussing the alternatives to capitalism -- left socialism and right socialism (which we call “Fascism”). His point was that these two socialisms were created to undo the disruptions of capitalism which had privileged “money power” to degrade human sociality into atomic individualism driven by self-seeking greed. When I read his observation that the Fascist phase of anti-capitalism brought about “Irrational philosophies, racialist aesthetics, anti-capitalist demagogy, heterodox...

The United States has committed numerous Acts of War against Russia this year. This is not a value judgment. I make no claim here about whether the United States has acted wisely, or has acted with justification. I simply note it. And the world may now be tumbling into an interlocking cycle of escalation beyond control and foreseeable consequences, just as it did in 1914. That the United States has committed Acts of War in no way justifies Russia’s actions; neither is it to say therefore that World War III and nuclear war have become inevitable, though Russian state media...

The machete-wielding man who sliced a cop’s hand in Coney Island on Thursday – and was then shot in the leg by the officer – has been slapped with multiple charges while recovering in the hospital, authorities say. Richard Paris, 57, was holding the 16-inch weapon and a smaller blade when three cops began struggling with him on West 8th Street in the Brooklyn beach town around 1 p.m., police said. “It was this intense prolonged struggle that one of the officers was sliced on the hand,” Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell told reporters Thursday. “Fortunately the officer, who was a...

CONCORD, N.H. — Late Thursday night, the state Senate repealed the law providing for a 'buffer zone' around abortion clinics on a narrow 12-11 vote. Republicans cited the 2014 Supreme Court decision striking down Massachusetts' buffer zone law to back this move. Democrats said New Hampshire’s law is different from the Massachusetts one in that case in that it does not mandate a specific buffer zone distance. The governor has said he will veto this bill once it reaches his desk. This legislation comes as a draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked this week.

Another video only update. Summary: Ship is now pretty much completely pumped out and riding high in the water. 95% of the water has been removed, most of the crews are leaving, they're still chasing small leaks/the remaining 5% of the water. Ship has a tiny list to starboard. The last of the on-board diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids is being removed so it won't continue to pollute. The entire ship is likely going to be getting repainted and they're going to resume cleaning the mussels off the hull. They are now starting to investigate why the ship sank -...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Friday signed a $1.2 billion tax relief package, the largest tax relief package in the state’s history, which, in part, makes key baby items tax free for one year. The governor signed what he described as the “largest tax relief in the history of the state of Florida,” giving relief to millions of Floridians on key items that have skyrocketed over the course of Biden’s presidency. That includes “really critical needs like gas, diapers, disaster supplies, tools for skilled trades, [and] recreational activities.” “Families are going to be able to save for things that...

An 83-year-old American nun has been kidnapped by armed men during a nighttime raid in Burkina Faso in West Africa, the bishop of the local diocese said Tuesday. Sister Suellen Tennyson, a nun from a parish in Yalgo in the country’s north, was taken by the unidentified men on Monday night. Tennyson, who belongs to the Catholic congregation Marianites of Holy Cross, has served in a community of nuns in Yalgo since 2014, according to the diocese.
