Gita Gopinath, first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has warned of a gradual decrease of the dominance of the US dollar in the world financial systems after the unprecedented financial sanctions imposed on Russia after its incursion in Ukraine. The sanctions, from restrictions on Russian banks to measures targeting its economy, imposed by Western nations, could cause a more fragmented international monetary system. “The dollar would remain the major global currency even in that landscape, but fragmentation at a smaller level is certainly quite possible,” Gopinath told the Financial Times. “We are already seeing that, with...

Ukraine has been asking for more fighters since the war started, but the US refused to support a deal that could have seen Poland supply 28 MiG-29s, a Russian-made jet of the type its remaining pilots are used to flying. Washington was concerned that supplying fighter jets could be deemed escalatory by a nuclear-armed Russia. Despite the refusals, Ukraine continues to press its case, and overnight its air force tweeted “the greatest need is for fighter jets” and asked specifically for F-15s and F-16s, whose original designs date back to the 1960s and 1970s, which it said its pilots could...

As an aid to coping with inflation, President Biden urged families to "switch to renewable energy because it will save them money. The average family car costs over $700 per month to operate. Selling this cash-eater will eliminate that cost. Taking public transit will shift the majority of your travel costs to the government where it will be paid for by taxpayers. An even thriftier and more healthy option would be to walk everywhere you go. There's no fare to pay and the exercise is good for you. It will also help save the planet from Climate Change." "You can...

China staged a huge cyberattack on Ukraine’s military and nuclear facilities in the build-up to Russia’s invasion, according to intelligence memos obtained by The Times. More than 600 websites belonging to the defence ministry in Kyiv and other institutions suffered thousands of hacking attempts which were co-ordinated by the Chinese government, according to Ukraine’s security service, the SBU. The spy agency revealed that, in an apparent sign of complicity in the invasion, Chinese attacks started before the end of the Winter Olympics and peaked on February 23, the day before Russian troops and tanks crossed the border. The SBU said...

A former hostess at an Arizona Cracker Barrel says the restaurant used a “code word” to refer to Black people, Newsweek reports. The former Cracker Barrel employee shared the news on TikTok, in a video that’s been viewed over 260,000 times. In the 15-second video, TikToker @cinnamnhoney, said while she worked at Cracker Barrel, she’d often wonder how her coworkers would be able to identify a table of “Canadians” even if they didn’t have an accent. A few seconds later, she revealed that “Canadians” was actually code word for Black people. “I had an old co-worker come and ask me...

I wanted to provide an update on Doug Jensen, a January 6th political prisoner. It’s been almost 15 months since he was arrested. Initially, Doug was imprisoned for 6 months and 6 days but granted home release. But after just 49 days, he was taken back into custody for the sin of accessing the internet and watching the Cyber Symposium. Accordingly, since the last time I posted the Jensen family's “Give Send Go” link, Doug has been unjustly imprisoned another 7 months. He continues to be denied home release. Unless that changes, Doug will be confined until his trial September...

On Thursday, the US had warned India of consequences if it increased its energy imports from Russia, adding that New Delhi could not expect Moscow to come to its defence against China. India argues that its decision-making is governed by national interest. At the policy level, India has traditionally been averse to unilateral sanctions. India has bought millions of barrels of crude oil from Russia at a discount since the war erupted, justifying the purchases as beneficial for its citizens and something that even European countries are doing. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman told CNBC-TV18 that India would continue to buy...

NAPLES, Fla. — Mike Pompeo is running — if not for president, then for a chance to be Donald Trump’s running mate should the former president mount another campaign. Pompeo is methodically laying the groundwork for his own 2024 presidential bid if Trump skips the race. And Trump has already told associates that Pompeo, one of the few top Cabinet officials who never lost favor with him, could make his vice presidential short list if he runs again, a person familiar with Trump’s comments said. In speech after speech, Pompeo tells audiences how he pines to be back in government....

After serving as White House press secretary for more than a year, Jen Psaki will leave the Biden administration for MSNBC, where she will serve as a host and on-air expert. The departure, first reported by Axios, is expected this spring. Psaki has held near-daily briefings since the start of the Biden presidency, and has generally been praised for her transparency. She had initially said she would stay in her position for a year, but a number of overlapping crises — the coronavirus pandemic, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and, most recently, the war in Ukraine — appear to have extended...

Did you, or a family member, serve your country with the expectation of receiving the health care benefits you were promised? Sorry, illegal aliens apparently come first in President Joe Biden’s America. The Biden administration reportedly is considering diverting doctors from the Department of Veterans Affairs to treat the massive inflow of illegal aliens expected at the southern border this spring and summer. Hillary Vaughn of Fox Business reported on the insulting slight to American veterans on Thursday, citing a source with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She quoted the source as saying, “We’re going to take medical services away...

The White House refused to rule out President Joe Biden issuing a presidential pardon for his son Hunter Biden or for his brother James Biden as federal investigations continue over their foreign business dealings. “That’s not a hypothetical I’m going to entertain,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said during the daily press briefing when asked about a potential pardon “I don’t have anything to add from this podium.” Bedingfield was reluctant to address any aspect of the Hunter Biden story, after CNN, The Washington Post, and the New York Times recently published stories about the federal tax probe into...

RIGHTEOUS AMONG THE NATIONS—Here is America's only soldier to ever receive Israel’s highest honor conferred on non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. On this day 77 years ago, facing the threat of immediate execution, he and his men displayed an act of courage and character that exemplifies what it means to take a stand against evil. US Army Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds, 422nd Infantry Regiment, 106th Infantry Division, the “Golden Lions”, was captured by German forces at the onset of the Battle of the Bulge. A native of Knoxville, TN, Edmonds was 25 years old....

Joe Biden on Wednesday announced he is planning on dropping a Trump-era order blocking asylum seekers at the US border on May 23. Title 42 was used by President Trump in 2020 to expel migrants seeking asylum during the Covid pandemic. Migrants camped out in Tapachula, Mexico (Guatemala border) answered Biden’s invitation to the US border. Hundreds of migrants in Tapachula left the refugee camp on Friday morning and began marching to the US border. The migrants clashed with law enforcement and used a giant wooden cross as a battering ram to break through the Guard lines, AP reported. 'Some...

Ghislaine Maxwell lost her bid for a new trial Friday after she requested a re-do because of a chatty juror who threw her conviction into doubt with a series of post-trial interviews. The order by Manhattan federal court Judge Alison Nathan came weeks after she grilled the juror, who was identified by media outlets by his first and middle names, Scotty David, about his answers on a juror questionnaire during the selection process last year. David responded “no” to questions on the form that asked if he or his close family and friends had ever been the victims of sexual...

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) observed that Dr. Anthony Fauci was once able to “tell the truth” about natural immunity — a reality the White House chief medical adviser has largely dismissed throughout the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. “Hmmm…Once upon a time Anthony Fauci could tell the truth…What happened?” Paul asked, referring to an older clip of Fauci on CSPAN, where the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) chief firmly defended the concept of natural immunity against an illness. When asked if someone who had the flu for 14 days needed a flu shot, Fauci said, “Well, no. If she...

On March 21, 2022, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, speaking of the Ukraine-Russia war, said: "there's going to be a new world order out there, and we have to lead it." The President did not elaborate on what this “new world order” would look like. What is the United States strategic aspiration, what it seeks to achieve, what it seeks to prevent? As Yogi Berra observed, "If you don't know where you are going, you will end up someplace else." That is exactly what is happening. Over the last thirty years, the inability to deal with Russia’s...

Russian energy giant Gazprom said on Friday it was exiting its business in Germany, amid a dispute between the two countries over Moscow's insistence on switching payments for Russian gas to rubles from euros. It was not immediately clear how the move would affect the supply of Russian gas, on which Germany depends for about 40% of its needs. The company said it had terminated its participation in Gazprom Germania and all of its assets, including Gazprom Marketing & Trading. It provided no further details or explanation. German business daily Handelsblatt reported on Thursday that the German economy ministry was...
