In 2014, following the invasion and annexation of Crimea by Russia my...

The "Ross procedure" may be a more favorable option for aortic valve replacement among patients under 50 years old than more standard mechanical or biological replacements. The research is the first to compare the Ross procedure to the other options, and shows that it leads to improved survival and better outcomes in younger adults. "Not only was survival better than after biological or mechanical aortic valve replacement, it was also identical to the matched U.S. general population. To this day, this is the only operation that has ever been shown to restore survival after aortic valve replacement in young adults,"...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to introduce a nationwide ban on the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars this spring, a move intended to reduce racial health disparities in tobacco-related diseases and death. But the proposal has divided racial justice advocates who debate whether the health benefits would come at the risk of further criminalizing Black communities. The FDA gave itself until April to draw up rules that limit the sale of menthol cigarettes, which are easier to smoke and harder to quit than unflavored products. The tobacco industry’s marketing of menthols included a targeted campaign...

Shortly after Christmas 1994, 11-year-old Amber Doggett and her little sister were brought to the police station in Wenatchee, Washington, to answer some questions. The girls were separated and, later, in an interrogation room, a detective asked Doggett if her parents had ever sexually abused her. They hadn’t, she said. Yes, they had, the detective insisted. He said he knew that because Doggett’s three older siblings had already said so, and had described the abuse in detail to police. He said it stood to reason that Doggett couldn’t see this clearly, as she’d been brainwashed. None of this was true....

The trucks appeared on Capitol Hill early Saturday morning. Not 18-wheeler rigs, barreling down across the Canadian border from Ottawa. But perhaps in anticipation of those vehicles arriving. They were big trucks. Dump trucks. Garbage trucks. Snow plows with salt spreaders. Some emblazoned with the Architect of the Capitol stenciling on the side. The trucks blocked off portions of Pennsylvania and Maryland Avenues on the west end of the U.S. Capitol. U.S. Capitol Police then stationed some other cruisers with lights in other locations around the Capitol complex. "Due to the Truckers Convoy, the following road closures are in effect...

We penetrate the cabinets. The change is not just happening. The change can be shaped by us. We have to prepare for a more angry world. How to prepare? To take the necessary actions to create a fairer world. {You'll own nothing and be happy} I see the need for a Great Reset. The people assume we are just going back to the good old world which we had, and everything will...

“‘Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth’” (Matthew 5:5). God rewards the gentle with His own joy and gladness. But more specifically, He allows such saints to “inherit the earth.” In the future the Father will completely reclaim earth, and believers will rule it with Him. Because only believers are truly gentle, Jesus could confidently proclaim “they shall inherit the earth.” “Inherit” denotes the receiving of one’s allotted portion and correlates perfectly with Psalm 37:11—“the humble will inherit the land.” We sometimes wonder why the godless seem to prosper while the godly suffer, but God assures us...

Contentment was a huge test in Paul’s life. After all, God said he would use him mightily: “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of mine to bear my name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15, NKJV). When Paul first received this commission, “Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God” (Acts 9:20). Paul was in no hurry to see everything fulfilled in his lifetime. He knew he had an ironclad promise from God, and he clung to it. For the present moment, he was content to minister wherever...
