The United States Marshals Service goes after some of the worst people in this country. They’re the guys who go after the fugitives and serve federal arrest warrants. They see some of the worst this nation has to offer. So, if gun control proposals worked as advertised, you’d think US Marshals would be those most interested in backing them. And yet, in Maryland, one is taking issue with the proposed ban on unserialized firearms.

As we continue our journey through the Gospel of Luke in Ordinary Time, Jesus keeps teaching us that his kingdom, the Kingdom of God, reverses many of our expectations and stereotypes. His is a kingdom where the typical markings of “blessing”—health, wealth, prosperity, power—are doomed to woe, and the typical markings of “curse”—weakness, sickness, poverty, humiliation—are signs of happiness and rejoicing. What is going on? Jesus’ teaching “upsets our apple cart” and forces us to think more deeply about who God is and who we are. 1. Our First Reading is from Jeremiah 17:5-8:Thus says the LORD: Cursed is the...

Several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and others have called on Poland to stop the building of its anti-illegal immigration border barrier along the border with Belarus, claiming it could harm the local environment. A group of 150 NGOs from 25 countries called on Poland to halt the border wall project in a letter sent to the European Union Commission in Poland earlier this week stating their concerns that the border barrier could have a negative environmental impact in the border area. The Polish NGO Grupa Granica, a pro-migrant social movement of activists that monitors the situation along the Polish-Belarus border, claimed...

The woman arrived at a hospital in Peshawar after trying to extract the 5cm (two-inch) nail with pliers. Initially, she told doctors that she had carried out the act herself, but later admitted a faith healer who had claimed he could guarantee she gave birth to a baby boy was responsible. Police began investigating after x-ray images of the injury appeared online. Dr Haider Khan, a staff member at the Lady Reading Hospital, said the woman was "fully conscious, but was in immense pain," when she arrived seeking treatment.

After doing over 350 interviews in my career, I rarely get shaken by a guest. That rare event occurred today when I interviewed Dr. Li-Meng Yan. She told me things from her various sources, many of which are in China with direct knowledge, that blew my mind. Is the CCP developing another bioweapon? The answer to that is almost certainly yes, but Dr. Yan went a step further. She explained that they are already unleashing one onto the world through the Olympic games in Beijing today. Before I get into the details, it’s important to understand that she and her...

(AP) — California would mandate that all businesses require their employees and independent contractors to receive the COVID vaccine under legislation announced Friday by Democrat state lawmakers that was immediately criticized by Republicans as government overreach. Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks introduced her bill months after delaying an original proposal last fall. The previous version would have allowed workers to submit...

Remember the Durham probe? It’s a criminal investigation that was launched by then-Attorney General William Barr. It was supposed to get to the origins of the Russian collusion probe. As with any government investigation, it takes time, a lot of time. It also splinters into various off-shoots—which again increases the length of time of the probe. The amount of time has outlasted the Trump administration. To protect the effort and to ensure it would continue after the Trump White House, AG Barr gave former U.S Attorney John Durham special counsel status. It’s been under the radar for months. Now, we...

This comes shortly after a former Blackrock executive began investigating the death statistics from insurance companies and funeral homes. Overall, he has dumped $400 million in...

“Plain Speaking: Blessings and Woes” (Luke 6:17-26) Our text today, from Luke chapter 6, begins with these words: “And he came down with them and stood on a level place.” Who is the “he,” who is the “them,” and where is he coming down from? The “he” is Jesus, the “them” are his twelve disciples, and where Jesus is coming down from is a mountain. He had been up on that mountain all night, praying. In the morning, he came down and gathered together the twelve, along with a whole bunch of his other followers. Having come down from the...

When someone has some money put away or a little bit of extra income, the most logical way forward is probably to invest it somewhere. A good investment will not only keep the money safe, but will also multiply it over time. Not everyone can have the guarantee of a steady income these days, so it’s always best to have an investment portfolio as a backup for rainy days. With that said, it can sometimes be hard to choose the smartest investment available. There are several asset classes out there, and many investors are choosing to put a little money in...

The US is showing solidarity with our patriotic friend’s next door, Canada. Daily Mail reported that vaccine mandate protesters marched over the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC, to protest the vaccine mandates and also show solidarity with Canada’s Freedom Truckers. The crowd carried giant US and Canadian flags and they did not have a lot of nice things to say about Justin Trudeau, who has come under tremendous fire for how poorly he’s handling this peace uprising of his country’s middle-class. Justin started out by brushing the group off as “small and fringe.” When that turned out to be totally wrong,...
