US Marshal calls out uselessness of Maryland "ghost gun" ban

The United States Marshals Service goes after some of the worst people in this country. They’re the guys who go after the fugitives and serve federal arrest warrants.

They see some of the worst this nation has to offer.

So, if gun control proposals worked as advertised, you’d think US Marshals would be those most interested in backing them.

And yet, in Maryland, one is taking issue with the proposed ban on unserialized firearms.

It’s a matter of time before personal laser weapons or small particle type weapons with killing powerwill start to become a factor, what with the continual improvements of batteries and power storage. The knowledge of how to make them is already in the wind. Progressive politicians will almost wish for the days of projectile weapons again.

On the other hand, maybe it’ll be possible to make a wireless ranged ‘stun gun’ too. That would solve a lot of problems. Would be better if it also has a vaporize setting though :)

I wouldn’t count out the numerous unsung inventers of America with stuff in their garages they can use should the Deep state try to come after Americans in a very ugly way. The knowledge of physics and electronics has come a long way in 75 years. I think this issue is not lost on the would be tyrants.

How to construct a laser has been public for decades. Doesn’t mean it can be done by just anyone

It probably isn't far off. At this very moment, you can buy a laser for less than a $100 that will blind someone pretty quickly. There are YouTube videos that show these really cheap handheld lasers cutting electrician tape at about two feet. About twenty years ago, a laser that powerful would take up a kitchen table and cost many thousands of dollars. You can buy online a tattoo removal laser for a little more than a $1000 that will almost immediately blind someone, though that model is bigger than an desktop computer.

In our company of freepers, how many would you speculate that could do such things?

Sure, not everyone could fix a car, either The US has quite a surplus of electronic scrap in attics and garages. There are a lot of smart people amongst the patriots in this nation. I also remember even the south in the civil war when they were pressed could get ingredients for gun powder from collected urine.

When I was a freshman in high school, our neighbor made his own black powder. He used Charcoal, salt peter and sulfur. The recipe is simple. Done improperly it is also dangerous.

I reload. Don’t use black powder or it’s substitutes.

Recently I did get 2 canisters of Pyrodex in a lot of powder that I bought.

Reloading can be done safely and in today’s world is important. But it is something that requires a lot of careful handling, and care in researching load data.

Today components are still hard to find. So too often it is necessary to substitute powder or bullet selection.

I reload a lot of calibers. most are 30 caliber and up.

Primers are the hard part to find. The scalper prices for primers is very high. Old friend of mine recently paid 4x last years price for a couple of boxes of handgun primers. It has been this way since Obama took office.

A company has announced opening a primer and ammo manufacturing plant in Texas. They plan to have 400 employees by 2023. This might help stem the shortages.

Who cares what a US Marshall says, he’s only an expert in the field of firearms and criminality. It’s not like he’s a leftist elected OFFICIAL or anything of any real value. /s

Have designed, developed, and built lasers for a living I can do it but wouldn’t bother. Buy more ammo folks. That’s the ticket

As usual, these folks make more laws that are of no benefit to the law abiding. The lawless are gonna be lawless no matter the laws.

Primers are fairly easily recharged. There are at least five methods, from the simplest using cap gun caps to those that require the at home manufacture of chemicals from for available precursors.

Significant numbers of people have been using all the methods. So far, one of the most popular requires a fairly simple creation of the correct chemical for the primer compound, which does not become sensitized until it is placed in the primer cup and wetted.

Hundreds of people are doing this.

There is an entire forum with a lively discussion on MeWe on how to do it, what works, what doesn't, and safety measures.

Many of the methods were initiated by a retired PHD Chemist.

I will look at it. I joined MeWe the last time we discussed this, but did not find the specific forum.

Thanks for the link. Will look at it tonight.

I solved my primer shortage, most of what I needed were large rifle primers. Recently I bought some old new stock of a number of primers and powder and I’m feel comfortable about being able to reload everything the family uses.

Am still interested in the primer reload process.

Am looking forward to signs of operation of the new primer and ammo manufacturing plant coming to East Texas.
