Given the “cliff” off of which Joe Biden has fallen in Georgia, Raphael Warnock must feel some relief to still have a virtual tie with potential GOP challenger Herschel Walker. A new poll from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution puts Biden’s overall job approval at 33.7% in a state he narrowly won fourteen months ago. A large component of that collapse is from perhaps the Democrats’ most important electoral demo, too: President Joe Biden’s approval rating has fallen off a cliff in Georgia, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll released Thursday that showed just one-third of registered voters approve of the Democrat’s...

The news that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring is still fresh. He won’t even officially retire until October, and the Biden administration will likely spend months vetting potential nominees. But I can tell you right now, whoever Biden picks, they sexually assaulted me 25 years ago at a high school party. I can’t remember how I got there or how I got home. So far, the people I know who were present are telling me it didn’t happen. I may have changed my story a few times too. But, hey, look, you can trust me. I have no...

As part of their job in screening visitors to the U.S. Capitol (should the complex ever re-open to the public, that is), U.S. Capitol Police often rummage through backpacks and purses. Lately, they may also be rummaging through more than that: your tax records, real estate holdings, and social media posts. All without your knowledge. Besty Woodruff Swan and Daniel Lippman broke the details this week of a new Capitol Police initiative that involves deep dives into the speech, background, and lifestyle details of who members of Congress are meeting with, including donors, Hill staff, mayors, state legislators, and other...

Home is where the heart is — especially the healthy heart. Just by way of cooking your own food, you’re likely enjoying a healthier diet than those who rely on eating out, a new study finds. Researchers at the University of Washington interviewed 437 residents of nearby King County, asking them to fill out a questionnaire detailing their eating experiences. They compared this data to a metric devised by the USDA called the Healthy Eating Index. The index, which evaluates one’s compliance with federal guidelines set for a healthy diet, is weighted on a 100-point scale. The study showed that...

Annunziata Palese, the woman who co-founded Nancy’s Pizza, and whose nickname became synonymous with stuffed pizza in Chicago and made the city’s greatest cheese pull famous around the world, died Jan. 20 at 87 years old. Palese’s late husband, Rocco Palese, first made the Chicago-style stuffed pizza in 1971 at Guy’s Pizza, which they took over in the Hermosa neighborhood. “When he invented the stuffed pizza, there was war,” she said in a 2016 Tribune profile, her English imbued with Italian. “We fight. I no want to do it. Sometimes we was so busy, and he fool around with the...

The Federal Reserve signaled Wednesday that it plans to begin raising its benchmark interest rate as soon as March, a key step in reversing its pandemic-era low-rate policies that have fueled hiring and growth but also escalated inflation. With high inflation squeezing consumers and businesses and unemployment falling steadily, the Fed also said it would phase out its monthly bond purchases, which have been intended to lower longer-term rates, in March. The Fed’s actions are sure to make a wide range of borrowing — from mortgages and credit cards to auto loans and corporate credit — costlier over time. Those...

A Russian invasion of Ukraine poses a serious risk to American citizens and interests. One year into the Joe Biden presidency, critics have justifiably focused on his failed economic, border, and COVID policies. Let’s face it: those are low-hanging fruit and the consequences for Americans are significant. But with Russian forces poised to invade Ukraine, Beijing forcing its will on the world, and rogue nations provoking the international community, Biden’s weakness on the world stage risks drawing the U.S. into a hurricane of international security crises with massive implications. resident Biden was asleep at the wheel on national security policy...

THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME MARK 4:21-25 Friends, today’s Gospel shows how the light of Christ affects our lives. Well, light is wonderful in the measure that it illumines and brightens and delights. But light can also be disconcerting. Think of how bad most of us look in direct light! I discovered this while filming the CATHOLICISM series. I much prefer the indirect light that you can produce indoors. The full glare of the sun reveals every flaw, imperfection, and peculiarity of your face. Think of what happens when you suddenly shine a light into a dark corner in your...

Meanwhile, US Surgeon General says big tech should silence scientists like Malone who disagree with him.Steve Kirsch35 min ago Here’s the Reuter’s article on Sweden and the COVID vaccines:Sweden couldn’t find any benefit of the COVID vaccines since the rates of serious disease are so low. Here in the US, we can’t find any benefit either, but that doesn’t matter. There seems to be a disturbing, growing sense that Gov Youngkin overreached when he forbade school districts from requiring mask mandates. The problem, advocates are admitting, is that Virginia's legislature passed a law requiring school boards to comply with CDC guidelines. But the law says only that they must do so "to the extent practicable." Here's the thing: The new law did not mandate masks per se. It could have. It could also define what CDC guidelines could be deemed impracticable and what could be deemed mandatory. It did not. And that phrase, "to the extent practicable" is there for...

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort-Worth-based American Airlines is reducing its departures at DFW Airport in March by approximately 1,600 flights or 52 flights per day, the airline said Thursday. American will operate more than 5,400 peak daily departures systemwide in March, which is more flights compared to the March 2021 schedule, American said. WFAA has reached out to American to clarify what caused the change of schedule. In March, American is currently scheduled to operate more than 700 departures per day from DFW, for a total of approximately 23,000 monthly flights. The planned systemwide schedule in March is approximately 86%...

The Dow Jones industrial average took an icy plunge of more than 1,000 points on Monday â its worst start âeverâ â but ABC, NBC, and CBS chose to whitewash the shocking news and gave the story just minutes of coverage. Bloomberg News reported on Monday that â[t]he stock market has never been down this much 16 trading days into a year.â The shocking drop of 11 percent was âthe most on record at this juncture, according to Bloomberg data that goes back over nine decades.â This is scary news for Americans already gravely concerned about job numbers and inflation,...

Consider, Sir, the great influence, which this [Senate] armed at all points will have. What will be the effect of this? Probably, a security of their re-election, as long as they please. Indeed, in my view, it will amount nearly to an appointment for life. What will be their situation in a federal town? Hallowed ground! Nothing so unclean as state laws to enter there; surrounded, as they will be, by an impenetrable wall of adamant and gold; the wealth of the whole country flowing into it. Their attention to their various business, will probably require their constant attendance.—In this...

Accepting his new position on Wednesday, Green Party politician Sven Lehmann said “everyone should be able to live freely, safely, and with equal rights.” In the newly created role of “Federal Government Commissioner for the Acceptance of Sexual and Gender Diversity,” Lehmann will be responsible for working with government ministries on policy projects affecting the LGBTQ+ community. He will also spearhead the government’s National Action Plan for Sexual and Gender Diversity. Germany’s month-old government — made up of the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens and the neoliberal Free Democrats (FDP) — previously set out the plan in their coalition...

The Democratic Party establishment is none too happy with Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Despite the fact that she votes for President Joe Biden’s agenda north of 95% of the time, her state party apparatchiks voted this past week to censure her. This for refusing, along with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., to go along with scuttling the legislative filibuster to pass the so-called "voting rights" bill. The obstinance of these two moderate lawmakers has drawn comparisons to Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., who also exist at odds with the powers that be in the Republican Party. But the...

CHICAGO – On the 68th day of his 100-day rooftop vigil to build a community center designed to provide opportunities to his community, Pastor Corey Brooks discusses how parents must step up when it comes to educating their children. What follows has been lightly edited. We strongly encourage you to watch the accompanying video so you may hear the pastor in his own words. In an earlier Rooftop Revelation, I spoke about the need to have school choice. And I spoke about an elementary school that is only two blocks away from where I sit. Only 6% of the kids at...
