Santander accidentally paid out $175 million to thousands of accounts on Christmas Day in a massive blunder. Approximately 75,000 Brits or their companies received a second wage or supplier payment from Santander account holders on December 25. SNIP Santander must now launch cross-company talks to get the funds back – as bosses fear the money has already been spent by some account holders. Banks are keen to avoid pulling the funds out of accounts directly for fear it would put some customers in their overdrafts.

  • China’s reliance on Middle East oil, gas to rise sharply ---- As China embarks on a long transition to renewables, Middle East’s strategic significance for Beijing will only grow

China has long relied on the Middle East to secure much of the oil needed to fuel its rapid economic development. Now Chinese President Xi Jinping wishes to create an “ecological civilization” that relies less on fossil fuels and more on renewable energy. As the world’s largest oil importer seeks to become greener and more self-reliant, one might expect a shift in its attention and capital. The reality, however, Since China became a net importer of oil in 1993, the Middle East has emerged as an increasingly important source of this critical commodity. By the time China surpassed the US...

A staffer for "Squad" Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., referred to Israel as a "racist European ethnostate" on social media. Hussain Altamimi joined Ocasio-Cortez’s office in November as a legislative assistant, posting shortly after a picture of him and the congresswoman on Instagram with the caption "New beginnings." Then, last week, Altamimi targeted Israel in an Instagram story calling the U.S.’s key Middle Eastern ally a "racist European ethnostate." "Israel is a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population!" Altamimi wrote on Christmas Eve, according to a screenshot obtained by Fox News Digital.

Dallas-area police have charged a 14-year-old with capital murder in a triple killing at a gas station and are warning that the boy is at large, armed and dangerous. Police in Garland are seeking Abel Elias Acosta and said Wednesday that they have evidence showing he was the gunman who left three teens dead and wounded a fourth at the suburban gas station's convenience store Sunday. Prosecutors will determine whether the teen is charged as a minor or an adult, said Lt. Pedro Barineau. The Associated Press does not typically name juveniles suspected of a crime but is doing so...

Who is Hilaire Belloc? He almost singlehandedly predicted the resurgence of militant Islam in the 1930s when almost nobody else was paying attention. The interest here is Belloc's observation, that most of the Barbarians at the Gates of Rome, wanted to get IN, to BECOME ROMANS, they weren't out to destroy Rome. (That was Genseric, who was a Barbarian, but was in Iberia & N. Africa.) This is to answer the question, "If America is such a terrible place, why do so many millions want to come here?" The answer under Belloc's inspirations might be, "the migrants who are so...

A self-proclaimed millionaire in the medical cannabis industry has been charged with holding a woman captive for weeks, beating her and carving the number '6' into her hand as a warning that she had six months to love him or be murdered. Police were alerted to the case when the woman texted a friend saying she was being held against her will, and 'begging for...

Dionne Warwick, 81, has taken to Twitter to voice her white-hot opinions yet again. This time, it’s to communicate to the makers of Oreo that the extensive array of recent flavor variations is wholly unnecessary and gauche — the original one was more than sufficient. SNIP “Hello, What is your weirdest flavor? Why are y’all doing the most? The one flavor was fine,” Warwick questioned of the vegan cookie brand. Oreo reciprocated by sending Warwick a care package of its less well-known merchandise, a move she felt was a bit aggressive. “After asking @Oreo to stick to the original flavor,...

A total of 206 Marines have been removed for refusing to comply with the Pentagon’s mandate that all troops get vaccinated against the Wuhan coronavirus, a Marine Corps spokesperson announced Thursday. In an emailed statement, Capt. Andrew Wood, who is a Marine Corps spokesperson, said that 95 percent of the more than 182,000 active-duty Marines have at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The vaccination rate for reservists increased from 86 percent partially-vaccinated to 83 percent fully vaccinated. Two weeks ago, on Dec. 16, a spokesperson for the Marine Corps said that 103 members had been kicked out for...

Our latest update from the world of detachment from reality showed up in Washington state this week, where legislators are now considering legislation that would reduce the criminal penalties for drive-by shootings. We could sit here all day and scratch our heads over how anyone could believe that we’re being “too harsh” on people who gun down pedestrians from the windows of their vehicles, but that would skip over the rationale being offered. Democratic Representatives in the state legislature said that the sentencing guidelines need to be loosened in the interest of promoting “racial equity.” You really can’t make this...

At the Oct. 22, 2020, debate against then-President Donald Trump, Joe Biden said anyone who is responsible for 220,000 deaths from COVID should not be president. Now, here it is December 2021 and these 220,000 deaths have increased to 813,000. By my calculations, Joe Biden is now responsible for 417,000 deaths — more than the 396,000 who died while Trump was president. By his own thought process, Biden should have resigned several months ago, especially since he told us he was going to fix this.
  • We have a powerful weapon to fight inflation: price controls. It’s time we consider it

We used strategic price controls after inflation sky-rocketed after the second world war. There’s a strong case for doing so again now; nflation is near a 40-year high. Central banks around the world just promised to intervene. However, a critical factor that is driving up prices remains largely overlooked: an explosion in profits. In 2021, US non-financial profit margins have reached levels not seen since the aftermath of the second world war. This is no coincidence. The end of the war required a sudden restructuring of production which created bottlenecks similar to those caused by the pandemic. Then and now...
  • How the SIBO Diet Can Help Reduce Bloating, Gas, and Diarrhea

    MSN ^ | 12/14/21 | Madeline Kennedy,Melissa Rifkin
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when too much bacteria, usually coliforms, grow in the small intestine. Coliform bacteria ferment carbohydrates, which often lead to symptoms like excess gas, bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The idea behind the SIBO diet is to maintain gut health by eating foods that are less likely to ferment in the intestine and feed coliform bacteria. While SIBO is initially treated with antibiotics, "we think that the diet will prevent the bacteria from coming back," says Mark Pimentel, MD, director of the Medically Associated Science and Technology program and associate professor of gastroenterology at Cedars-Sinai...
