House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) called the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse “heartbreaking” and said that it sets a “dangerous precedent.” He’s now calling on the Department of Justice to review the verdict. “This heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by DOJ,” Nadler tweeted. “Justice cannot tolerate armed persons crossing state lines looking for trouble while people engage in First Amendment-protected protest.” Rittenhouse did not cross state lines with an AR-15, but was, in fact, provided with the weapon earlier in the day. Looting and rioting are also...

“Don’t worry,” he typed in what would be a final email to his wife in April. “Everything will be fine.” Last month, the ship, by then floating off the United Arab Emirates, sent what had become a familiar plea. Captain Sandu was dead and his body was in the ship’s walk-in freezer. For six months, it had traveled thousands of miles lying near the crew’s meat and vegetables. They needed to get him back to Romania. ...There currently are four seafarers’ bodies stuck aboard cargo ships, the International Maritime Organization says—as well as 36 urgent cases involving medical or humanitarian...

Explanation: In visible light the stars have been removed from this narrow-band image of NGC 281, a star forming region some 10,000 light-years away toward the constellation Cassiopeia. Stars were digitally added back to the resulting starless image though. But instead of using visible light image data, the stars were added with X-ray data (in purple) from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and infrared data (in red) from the Spitzer Space Telescope. The merged multiwavelength view reveals a multitude of stars in the region's embedded star cluster IC 1590. The young stars are normally hidden in visible light images by the...

Kyle Rittenhouse, who was 17 years old when he shot three people, killing two, officially got away with murder. A jury of his white peers ruled that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense when he illegally acquired a gun, traveled across state lines, lied about his status as a medic, pointed his gun at protesters, and then used it to kill others. The verdict is not surprising, if you are familiar with how the criminal justice system works for white people. Wisconsin Judge Bruce Schroeder, who presided over the Rittenhouse trial, consistently made rulings in the best interest of the white gunman.

Regardless, fans were lining up early to get some new swag with the Guardians logo. "This kind of exceeds expectations. Having...

... “There was nothing in the script about the gun being discharged by DEFENDANT BALDWIN or by any other person,” the lawsuit from script supervisor Mamie Mitchell says. ... Mitchell’s lawsuit focuses mainly on Baldwin’s actions. It said she was standing next to Hutchins and within 4 feet of the actor, and was stunned when he fired the gun inside the tiny church on Bonanza Creek Ranch on Oct. 21. “We can’t just flip a switch and make [the border crisis] better . . . We inherited an immigration system that is deeply broken.” — Vice President Kamala Harris, Nov. 18We say: President Donald Trump had the border situation largely under control, but President Biden did “flip a switch,” reversing Trump’s policies vital to keeping order at the border and signaling that migrants would be let in, practically no questions asked. Result: an unprecedented border-surge disaster. Fiscal year 2021 (which ended Sept. 30) saw agents detain nearly 1.7 million migrants, more than four times 2020’s number and the second-highest ever....

“This heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by DOJ.”The left’s reaction to Kyle Rittenhouse being acquitted of all charges was predictable and not particularly creative. According to them, he deserves to die, rot in hell, yadda, yadda, yadda. But one Democrat is taking things further by calling on the Biden DOJ to consider federal charges against Rittenhouse. Rep. Jerry Nadler, who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, tweeted his call for a federal review just hours after the jury’s verdict was announced. Many on the left, who so nonchalantly...
