You really have to keep a watchful eye on technological advancement. The super geeks who create the marvels of tomorrow very often become consumed in what can be done technologically, forgetting and forsaking the question of whether or not something should be done. As we continue to advance in areas like genetic engineering, quantum physics, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other bleeding edge sciences, eventually there will be little the human race is prevented from doing if we so desire. Already you can completely change your appearance in ways seemingly magical to people a hundred years ago. Fatter lips, smaller...

A few days back, the Harris-Biden administration floated a proposal that would require banks to report data to the Internal Revenue Service on transactions over $600. This would apply to both business and personal accounts. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen defended this proposal citing the “enormous tax gap” where information pertaining to income “can be hidden” by tax dodgers as the reason for this information-gathering exercise. Also fairly recently, Attorney General Merrick Garland sent a memo to the FBI directing them to protect schools from the "imminent threat" of parents sending "threatening letters and cyberbullying" school officials, terming these activities to...

Every Columbus Day, we are treated to recycled howls from the left who insist the day be rebranded as Indigenous People’s Day, in honor of the millions of Native Americans displaced, enslaved, or killed during the centuries preceding the discovery of America. We hear terms like “colonialism,” “systemic oppression,” “cultural genocide,” and “stolen land,” thrown around. Here is a brief list of the European Indigenous Peoples who were victimized by invading armies and migrations, by colonialism, systemic oppression, and cultural genocide, but whose sufferings are rarely if ever acknowledged by the left: The Greek city-statesFrom 492 to 449 BC, Persia...

Heavy marijuana users who are also vaccinated may be more susceptible to breakthrough cases of COVID-19, a new study found. The study, published last Tuesday in World Psychology, found that those with a substance use disorder (SUD) — a dependence on marijuana, alcohol, cocaine, opioids and tobacco — were more likely to contract the coronavirus after receiving both of their vaccination shots. Those without a SUD saw a 3.6 percent rate of breakthrough infections, compared to a 7 percent rate in those with a SUD.

The CDC used to define a “case” as a patient whose characteristic signs, symptoms, and physical examination matched a disease. Labs were only done if clinically needed. Since the “pandemic,” however, the move to boost case numbers is everywhere. Instantly, a “positive” RT-PCR test in an asymptomatic person after a drive-through tonsillectomy became a “case.” The CARES Act gives thousands extra to hospitals for every “positive,” with a big bonus if the patient’s shadow is seen in an ICU. It’s a classic “one hand washes the other scenario” between outside labs and hospitals. “If you give me more positive results,...

When President Joe Biden recently announced his “House America ” program to address homelessness, California Gov. Gavin Newsom was delighted. After all, it represented a continuation of California’s "housing first" approach to homelessness.... .....In October 2020, HUD and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness released a federally commissioned report — the first ever report on the efficacy of "housing first" policy. In June, the Biden administration quietly removed this report from the government websites housing it..... Why would Biden and House Democrats want to hide this report? That's easy: because it revealed that "housing first" is a failure....

Talks between Indian and Chinese army commanders to disengage troops from key friction areas along their border have ended in a stalemate and failed to ease a 17-month stand-off that has sometimes led to deadly clashes, the two sides said on Monday (Oct 11). The continuing stand-off means the two nations will keep troops in the forward areas of Ladakh for a second consecutive winter in dangerously freezing temperatures. India's defence ministry, in a statement, said it gave “constructive suggestions” but the Chinese side was “not agreeable” and “could not provide any forward-looking proposals”.

The dismal fate of the Afghan people is that groups even more extreme than the Taliban are emerging to vie for power. After capturing Kabul on August 15, the Taliban took three weeks to announce an interim government. Hardliners secured all of the posts in what was likely a power struggle with other Taliban leaders. The government is highly exclusive in its representation of gender, ethnicity, religion, and political views. When the Taliban first came to power in 1996, it enjoyed relative popular support given the fact that the feud between incumbent mujahedin groups had devastated Afghanistan. But the Taliban did...

Texas gubernatorial candidate Allen West, who is currently recovering from a case of COVID-19, said his hospitalization with the virus has made him “more dedicated to fighting against vaccine mandates.” West, who announced Saturday night that he has coronavirus-related pneumonia, advocated for monoclonal antibody infusion therapy as a way to combat COVID-19 instead of vaccines. “I can attest that, after this experience, I am even more dedicated to fighting against vaccine mandates. Instead of enriching the pockets of Big Pharma and corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, we should be advocating the monoclonal antibody infusion therapy,” Allen said on Twitter from the...

Republican Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem has faced criticism from both sides of the political spectrum on Sunday for telling state residents “don’t wait until Monday to celebrate Native American heritage” in an official statement.
