"We would go into villages and enrol people into this biometric data system," US Marine Special Operations Command veteran Peter Kiernan recalls. "You had a device about 12 inches by six inches wide. It would scan their fingerprints, it would scan their retina, it would also take a picture of them." A United Nations document recently seen by the BBC says the Taliban are intensifying their hunt for people who worked for, and collaborated with, Nato and US forces. And the giant stores of biometric data collected by both the US military and the Afghan government could, some argue, pose...

Sunday on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” Swedish teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg doubled down on her belief that President Joe Biden and his administration are not doing enough when it comes to solving the so-called climate crisis. In March, Thunberg pled with the Biden administration to “treat the climate crisis like a crisis,” which she noted is not being done. The activist argued that the “science” is not on their side.

...just because my bicep is less than half the size of his does not necessarily mean I will lose — despite its appearance, arm-wrestling is not all brute strength but significantly technique. Arm-wrestling is still considered little more than a formalized bar brawl by many Americans, The DIY arm arena took a little over two months, $300, numerous Home Depot trips and the help of his father and grandfather to complete, but once he built it, challengers did come. The scene can swell to 15 people, all mingling, flexing and fighting at the curbside stadium. “It’s super accessible — all...

As the Delta outbreak rages on in many countries, experts are surprised by how high the peak is going to be for the present wave of cases. Fortunately, mortality rates which typically lag for several weeks, are staying far below prior rates with the prior variants as a testimony to the lower virulence of the Delta variant. However, given the mass of infected people in so many countries, the impact on hospitalization and death should not be underestimated, particularly with the lack of early treatment, which is a standard in so many countries. Our CDC director and recent studies have...

Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego Kamala Harris? Here we are, the Biden Administration attempting to unwind the worst planned, worst executed bug-out in World history. And where is the Vice President? On a tour of Southwest Asia, no doubt attempting to assure our allies and former enemies that the United States has their back. Good luck with that! And her itinerary includes Vietnam, with the imagery of helicopters landing on the embassy roof from the last cluster flop of an evac now fresh in everyone's minds. Oh, the screaming at her staff must have hit 6.0 on the...

The House is set to return to Washington this week to take up the Senate-approved budget resolution, and divisions among Democrats are posing a challenge to quick passage. Adoption of the budget resolution would pave the way for Democrats to pass a $3.5 trillion package later this year without any Republican votes. The broader bill, which has yet to be crafted, is expected to include spending in areas such as education, child care, health care and climate to advance much of President Biden’s agenda. But a group of nine moderate House Democrats has threatened to vote against the budget resolution...

Michael Hayden, the former head of the CIA, has approved the idea of rounding up “dangerous” Trump supporters and deporting them to Taliban-run Afghanistan. Over the weekend, the mentally ill Deep State stooge took to Twitter to react to an anti-Trump activist who asked, “Can we send the MAGA-wearing unvaccinated to Afghanistan, no use sending that plane back empty?” “Good idea,” said General Hayden, who swore to protect and serve the United States. Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald found the tweet and said this about it: “George Bush and Dick Cheney’s former CIA/NSA Director — and current CNN favorite — endorsing...

Bodily inflammation dampens levels of a "feel-good molecule" and antidepressants' ability to boost them, according to new research in mice. The findings add to mounting evidence that inflammation, and the accompanying release of the molecule histamine, affects a key molecule responsible for mood in the brain—serotonin. If replicated in humans, the findings—which identify histamine as a "new molecule of interest" in depression—could open new avenues for treating depression, which is the most common mental health problem worldwide. Inflammation—a blanket term describing an immune response—triggers the release of histamine in the body. This increases blood flow to affected areas to flood...

The Nevada DMV’s plan to pay back millions of collected $1 fees — charges declared unconstitutional by the state Supreme Court — is temporarily on ice after state lawmakers said they want additional buy-in on the plan. Members of the Interim Finance Committee on Wednesday opted to not accept the agency’s plan to transfer $6 million in collected technology fee payments into a new refund budget account and attached disbursement plan. IFC Chair Sen. Chris Brooks (D-Las Vegas) lauded the proposal as a “creative solution” but said the committee wanted explicit approval from the court and state Senate Republicans (who...

BOULDER, Mont. — Twice a year, Brian Tichenor makes the 1,200-mile drive each way from his home in Kansas to a defunct uranium mine in Montana, where he takes an elevator 85 feet below the surface to sit amid radioactive radon gas to ease the pain from his chronic eye condition. “I found it like I think a lot of people do,” said Tichenor, 67. “It’s a point of desperation with conventional treatment.” While radon is commonly known as a hazardous gas removed from basements, people in pain travel to Montana and pay to breathe, drink and bathe in its...

Downing Street says the UK’s evacuation efforts will continue as long as it is safe to do so. It comes after a Taliban spokesman said that British and American troops staying in Afghanistan past 31 August would be crossing a "red line". Asked about the comments, the prime minister's official spokesman said: "I've seen the reports. I don't think we've had any direct communication to that end. "We will continue to run our evacuation process as long as the security situation allows." He added that the issue would be included in discussions with G7 leaders tomorrow.

It’s bad enough that a middle school in Loudon County, VA, has decided to remove “male” and “female” signs from its bathrooms. But in an even more extreme nod to social insanity, this same school is removing the urinals from the boys’ bathrooms. Why? It’s because a number of biological females, who identify as males, are offended by the presence of urinals. So, rather than point out to these females that they are not really males (otherwise, they’d have no problems with urinals), the school turns the world upside down to accommodate them. This is the direct result of school...
