It wasn't only Keilar that noted the border disaster but also correspondent Priscilla Alvarez. The chryon was even bleak: "Biden immigration plans crumble, border crisis remains". Crisis!

Maajid Nawaz issues warning to Starmer (opposition leader) over 'embracing Blair's legacy'... He went on to explain why Labour would nosedive if Mr Starmer stuck by the policy: "You're championing the same man who used the war on terror...to curtail our civil liberties" he pointed out. Maajid continued by warning that "the same man (Tony Blair) is trying to use the Covid emergency to introduce vaccine passports," and with low take-up in ethnic minority communities, would result in vaccine apartheid. Concerning world government: on July 28, 2021, prophecy teacher Geri Ungurean posted a Tony Koretz video on her website (Absolute Truth from the Word of God) in which Tony made a couple of statements that really caught my attention: “We are headed toward a worldwide dictatorship.” “A global medical dictatorship is rising.” Writer’s comment: It is hard to deny that the shadow government is using unelected individuals to dictate policies (masks should be required, vaccinations should be mandatory, people that disagree with them should be censored; lockdowns should be ordered, etc.) to nations all over the world. The government of...

The bootlegger-baptist coalition is an idea from the economics of regulation, which libertarians are fond of invoking. The idea is that, when new regulations are being considered, the coalition supporting a particular regulation often comprises one group with a moral or political objective, and one group with self-interested or monetary objective. The original example – analysed by the economist Bruce Yandle – comes from prohibition-era America. On the one hand, baptists supported bans on the sale of alcohol for moral reasons; they believed that drink had a corrupting influence on society. On the other hand, bootleggers supported prohibition because it...

TOKYO — The effects of climate change will force sports bodies to rethink their calendar of events, World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said Sunday. Coe, a two-time Olympic champion, was speaking on the final day of the Tokyo Games. The extreme heat and humidity in Japan forced changes to the track schedule, as well as tennis and women’s soccer. “You don’t have to be a devotee of climate change or a denier to know the world is getting hotter,” Coe said. “It probably will mean a global discussion around the calendar and how we stage events.” At the 2019 worlds,...

DENVER — When Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg donated $400 million to help fund election offices as they scrambled to deal with the coronavirus pandemic late last summer, he said he hoped he would never have to do it again. Republican legislatures are granting him that wish. At least eight GOP-controlled states have passed bans on donations to election offices this year as Republicans try to block outside funding of voting operations. The legislation often comes as part of Republican packages that also put new limits on how voters can cast ballots and impose new requirements on county or city-based election...

New coronavirus strains could be named after constellations once the Greek alphabet is used up, a World Health Organisation (WHO) boss has suggested. Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO's COVID-19 technical lead, also warned it is "possible" new variants could emerge which evade vaccines. So far, 11 variants have been named - including the Delta, Beta and Alpha strains. Dr Van Kerkhove told the Telegraph the WHO is looking at new names in case they go through all 24 letters of the Greek alphabet. "We're actually considering star constellations. We were going to go with Greek gods or goddesses, and I...
