Five Palo Alto police officers are suing the city for permitting a Black Lives Matter mural, with a strong anti-police theme, to remain last summer on Hamilton Avenue in front of City Hall. The five officers say the mural constitutes discrimination, harassment and retaliation. In the heat of national protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, City Council authorized the painting of the mural at a June 15, 2020 meeting. In the next two weeks, a group of activists painted the 245-foot long mural in the street.

#DefundPolice is on the back foot. With a former NYPD officer poised to capture Gotham’s City Hall and Team Biden preposterously claiming that defund was ack-shually a GOP scheme all along, it’s clear mainstream Dems have resolved to ditch the slogan, if not the entire agenda. So what now for true believers of a movement that last year swept up much of the liberal gentry? You could witness the defunders’ plea for attention in the wee hours of the morning Thursday at Washington Square Park. For more than a month now, the park has been the site of a battle...

A new poll has shown again why former president Donald Trump is the undisputed king of the modern Republican Party. In a 2024 national Republican primary poll, Trump is dominating with 55 percent support with no other person even cracking double digits. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in second with nine percent support, and then former vice president Mike Pence with eight percent, and commentator Candace Owens and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tied with four percent. This poll is bad news for the RINOs who want to close the door on Trump and move on to their hand-picked roster of...

As the highly transmissible delta Covid variant continues to spread rapidly across the United States and elsewhere around the world, scientists and other health experts are warning that indoor mask mandates and other public health measures will likely make a return in the U.S. this fall. The country, which just celebrated the Fourth of July with some of its first large gatherings in more than a year, is headed toward a "dangerous" fall season when delta is expected to cause another surge in new coronavirus cases, health experts say. Already the dominant variant in the U.S., delta will hit the...

Vice President Kamala Harris announced a new $25 million investment by the Democratic National Committee to expand its program that will help get out the vote in the upcoming midterm elections. The announcement, which took place on Thursday, comes as Harris and her team have been under scrutiny by allies and some of her own aides. Much of the frustration has been directed at Harris' chief of staff, Tina Flournoy. It also comes as Republicans draft and pass state laws that critics say restrict access to the ballot box. Details of the DNC's updated "I Will Vote'" program, shared early...

According to American officials on condition of anonymity, the United States will adjust the sanctions against other countries so that they are targeted and do not entail collateral economic damage, do not bring discomfort to ordinary citizens. Decisions on the use of restrictive measures will be made based on the views of America's allies, and not at their own discretion, as did former President Donald Trump. Under the current conditions, the easing of anti-Russian sanctions is undesirable for Ukraine. Crash of Ukraine's expectations After the annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of the armed conflict in Donbas in 2014, a...
