Instead, Democrats are preparing to vote on a scaled-down guns bill — most likely a curtailed plan to boost background checks for firearm buyers. The goal is to unite the party and pick up a limited number of Republican votes, even as their effort appears headed towards the same doomed fate as previous proposals to curb gun violence. Despite the all-but-certain GOP filibuster facing Democrats on guns, they’re well aware that a unified 50-vote Senate majority is the only way to put unmitigated political pressure on their opponents. It’s a stark contrast with Democrats' approach to their sweeping elections package,...

The entire newspaper can be read by clicking the links. At the bottom of today's front page we see Joe DiMaggio on the list of baseball players that hit home runs today. Free Republic Inflation June 2021 Posting There are a few of the 20 selected grocery items that have increased in price. At the Food City Chain where I get the price data, there is no across the board increase in prices. In general there is no price increase to report in the June monthly report As a Media Template, Inflation is a major story of the day. As a result of Biden policies, many think there will be inflation. Milton Friedman taught us that “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon, in the sense that it cannot occur without...

More than 50 House Republicans have called on President Joe Biden to remove Vice President Kamala Harris from leading the effort to address the root causes of the surge in migrants at the US-Mexico border, accusing her of "inaction." In a letter to Biden, 56 Republicans, led by GOP Rep. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin, have expressed "serious concerns" about Harris's role in handling what they deem a "crisis" at the southern border. The group cited recent figures released by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which revealed 180,034 migrant encounters at the southern border last month. "Despite being in the...

VENICE, CA — Hunter Biden moved out of his Venice canals rental and is now pushing forward in his art career, he tells Artnet. President Biden's son has been making art since he was a child and although he has no formal training, his work is represented by dealer Georges Bergès. He also has his gallery show debut coming to New York and a private showing in Los Angeles scheduled for this fall. His abstract work highlights patterns, bold color and he tells the New York Times it's "keeping him sane." Biden prefers painting on a tabletop, horizontally. He doesn't...

Today we conclude our two-part series on what the Bible says about wine. Last week we studied the Old Testament, and now we uncork the New, noting the pivotal role wine plays in Jesus’s Messianic ministry. Wine is first mentioned in the New Testament’s first book, the Gospel of Matthew, when Jesus says: “‘Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved’” (Matthew 9:17). That “new wine” lesson was also...

Who do Americans have to thank for the United States government not subjecting them to a national vaccine passport like those being imposed by national governments in Europe? Megan Redshaw wrote in a Wednesday article at Children’s Health Defense that the credit goes to Ron Paul who, while serving as a member of the US House of Representatives, led the effort to bar the US government from creating for each American a “unique health identifier” number. Redshaw wrote: So far, the Biden administration has resisted the idea of a “vaccine passport” for the U.S. On May 28, U.S. Director of...

I've been away since QANON was poo poo'd here ... now that everything is coming to pass maybe that'll change but this is my one and only return visit here. I've been fighting the vax for over a year.. As a non-medical professional you may think I have nothing to offer.. Here's my story.. In the early 2000's I was a stockbroker and my uncle Dan McLaughlin was a researcher at Pfizer instructed me to follow the new nRNA tech being currently animal tested.. I followed 3 animal trials closely before giving up on it.. All the animal studies ended...

With power demand recovering from the pandemic, European utilities are using more coal as natural gas inventories are unusually low for this time of the year due to a cold snap in late winter and early spring. This year, despite the record-high carbon price in Europe, the use of coal for power generation has jumped by up to 15 percent, ... Gas storage is so low now that Europe cannot afford to run extra power generation with the fuel ... Natural gas stockpiles are some 25 percent below the five-year average, and with such a right gas market, utilities run...

How relevant are fathers in the lives of their children? The answer can actually be calculated. According to research from the U.S. Census Bureau, when a child is raised without a father, he or she is four times more likely to live in poverty, seven times more likely to face teen pregnancy and twice as likely to drop out of school. Perhaps even more chilling is what that research reveals as a correlation between fatherlessness and our societal malaise. That same study found that “18.3 million children, 1 in 4, live without a biological, step or adoptive father in the...

Following the crash, prominent far-left activists like Amy Spitalnick prematurely described the suspect as a “domestic extremist” and blamed his alleged actions on Florida’s “anti-riot” bill that protects police and citizens from actual extremists. Signed into law by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in April, the bill grants immunity to drivers who are forced to drive through a mob of violent road-blocking extremists to prevent themselves and their families from being attacked and potentially killed.

The Biden administration revealed on Tuesday that guys who can’t get laid may be terrorist threats due to “involuntary celibate–violent extremism.” That revelation is part of a new crackdown that identifies legions of potential “domestic terrorists” that the feds can castigate and investigate. But there is no reason to expect Biden administration anti-terrorism and anti-extremism efforts to be less of a farce and menace than similar post-9/11 campaigns. Since the French Revolution, politicians have defined terrorism to stigmatize their opponents, a precedent followed by the Biden administration’s National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism. The report labels the January 6 clash...

My husband and I met in high school. I had a stepfather who took delight in hurting people, once, after stacking two cords of firewood, he told me that I could not eat until I stacked two more. I realized he was trying to break me, to save my life I decided to run away from him so I jumped off a two story balcony and angels softened my landing. I determined that I was going to try and find my dad. In the woods I heard God telling me to go back, that a rescue was coming to save...
