News reports. Human rights activist Esther Nakajjigo, 25, saw her promise as a future Oprah extinguished when on June 13, 2020, she died in the park after a traffic control gate slammed into her rental car. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) on Wednesday called on Congress to increase funding for high-speed rail in the infrastructure package. President Biden's $2.3 trillion infrastructure proposal invests $80 billion in rail projects, but industry experts say that money will mostly be spent on updating existing Amtrak lines rather than building new high-speed railways. Biden's plan includes far more funding for roads, bridges and electric cars than public transit. "Rail is climate infrastructure," Ocasio-Cortez said at a press conference Wednesday. "For every buck that we're going to put into a car and a...

President Biden’s face-to-face meeting Wednesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Switzerland was a “disaster” that showed the American leader “has no idea who Putin is,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Wednesday. “Here’s what Biden doesn’t understand: Putin could give a damn on what you think about him,” Graham told “Fox News Primetime”. “The only thing he’s going to respond to is when you threaten his power, and I saw nothing coming out of the summit threatening Putin’s power.” [cut] Biden’s summit with Putin only made the US seem weaker Graham went on to blast Biden’s claim to reporters that...

President Biden called Vladimir Putin’s comparison of Russian opposition protests to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot "ridiculous." "I think that's a ridiculous comparison," Biden said in a news conference following his Geneva meeting with the Russian president on Wednesday. "It’s one thing for literally criminals to break through ... go into the Capitol, kill a police officer and be held accountable," Biden said. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick died soon after the riot. His death was ruled as a result of natural causes, but the medical examiner ruled that the riot played a role in his condition. Biden said it...

Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that some elected officials in the U.S. are doing the work of Russian President Vladimir Putin by sowing distrust and divisiveness during and after the Trump administration. “When you take an oath to serve the United States, you take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic,” Mrs. Clinton said on MSNBC. “We never thought we had to worry about domestic enemies. We never thought we had to worry about people who didn’t believe in our democracy, in our Constitution, in our separation of powers, in our institutions. And sadly, what...

The Congressional Black Caucus backed Rep. Ilhan Omar on Wednesday, more than a week after the Minnesota Democrat tweeted incendiary comments that Democrats and Republicans have said equated the U.S. and Israel with Hamas and the Taliban. “Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is a valued Member of the Congressional Black Caucus Family, she represents a strong voice on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs,” a CBC statement said. “Furthermore, we appreciate her clarification of her recent remarks and find that this is another example of Republicans taking it out of context to shift the real attention from the abhorrent, disrespectful, and intemperate...

Biden angrily confronted Zeleny's CNN colleague Kaitlan Collins, asking her: 'What the hell?' when she questioned him about the summit. Biden later apologized, before boarding the plane to leave.
