President Joe Biden ran on a platform opposing new nuclear weapons, but his first defense budget backs two controversial new projects put in motion by former President Donald Trump and also doubles down on the wholesale upgrade of all three legs of the arsenal. The decision to retain a low-yield warhead that was outfitted on submarine-launched ballistic missiles in 2019, and to initiate research into a new sea-launched cruise missile, has sparked an outcry from arms control advocates and the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, which is vowing a fight to reverse the momentum."We must instead spend money on threats...

A new publication in The World Journal of Men's Health described what happened to two men following bouts with Covid-19 coronavirus infections. Six to eight months afterwards, they still had virus particles in their penises. Not only that. They had developed severe erectile dysfunction (ED) even though they hadn’t had ED prior to having Covid-19. In fact, the two men had ED so severe that they underwent penile implant surgery. This offered a team from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, (Eliyahu Kresch, Justin Achua, Russell Saltzman, Kajal Khodamoradi, Himanshu Arora, Emad Ibrahim, Oleksandr N. Deputies conducting off-highway vehicle enforcement first made contact with Bilal Winston Shabazz, a 29-year-old Lancaster resident, when they noticed his street-legal motorcycle had no license plate, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

California could get in the business of helping first-time home buyers make down payments under a new proposal that aims to lower barriers to ownership in an era of sky-high housing costs. A coalition of seven Democratic senators formally announced the “California Dream for All” program last week as part of a larger budget proposal they want Gov. Gavin Newsom to consider. The state would serve as a “silent partner” to first-time owners, in exchange for up to 45% ownership of a house. By their calculation, that means someone eyeing a $400,000 home could buy it for “a more affordable...

It was appropriate that news of the Democrats’ plans to pack the Supreme Court broke in April, just a couple days after the 160th anniversary of the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter, the shots that began the Civil War. Unlike President James Buchanan, who dithered in responding to obvious Confederate aggression, the newly inaugurated Abraham Lincoln acted decisively upon taking office. He informed South Carolina Governor Francis Pickens that he would be resupplying the fort, forcing South Carolina’s hand. Lincoln’s actions did not start the war—they made it clear that war was already underway. From that point on, Americans, even...

The Senate parliamentarian issued a new ruling that would effectively allow Democrats to use automatic budget reconciliation just one more time this year to bypass Republicans to advance President Biden’s progressive agenda. Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that a revision to the 2021 budget resolution cannot be automatically discharged from the Senate Budget Committee, according to The Hill. This means that Democrats would need at least one Republican on the 11-11 panel to vote with them if they want to use reconciliation on more than one occasion before the legislative session ends in October. The ruling, issued on Friday, effectively...

The Biden administration has formally ended a Donald Trump immigration policy that forced tens of thousands of asylum seekers to await their U.S. court dates in Mexico.Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the end of the Migrant Protection Protocols in a six-page memo on Tuesday, stating he has determined after a review that the policy does not "adequately or sustainably enhance border management" to justify its existence. California is telling counties to report post-vaccination cases of COVID-19 only in people who are hospitalized or have died, a shift from earlier surveillance that included all so-called breakthrough infections regardless of severity. The move aligns the state with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which stopped collecting nationwide data on mild or asymptomatic COVID-19 cases last month. Some infectious disease experts have said they are disappointed in the shifts. They said it’s important to pay close attention to how well the vaccines are working across the entire population, especially with new variants emerging in other parts of...

JUNE 2 UPDATE: A concerned Californian has called Cal/OSHA to ask how people call up and speak briefly (probably they’ll limit you to a minute) to oppose the unscientific, unhealthy, tyrannical notion of pressuring employers to then pressure their employees to indefinitely “mask up” and “distance.” Here’s the call-in instructions, as received: CALL TO ACTION-CA! CALL OSHA to stop the MASK at the Workplace Call in JUNE 3 at 9:50am Please SHARE! 1. Dial (844) 992-4726 2. When prompted, enter 268 984 996 3. The state of New Mexico is not above a bit of bribery to get people to sign up for their coronavirus shots. New Mexico on Tuesday joined some other states, businesses and organizations offering cash and prizes to those who get vaccinated. The states include Ohio and Oregon, and the businesses rewarding employees for getting shots include Dollar General and Trader Joe’s. A spokesman for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham suggested the word “bribery” was extreme. A bribe entices a person to do something against their interests, he said. “Getting your shot is definitely in your interest,” the spokesman, Tripp Stelnicki,...

Prosecutors in Minnesota are seeking a 30-year prison sentence for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. His actions traumatized Mr. Floyd’s family—Mr. Floyd’s daughter, his siblings, his cousins, his aunts and uncles, his nephews and nieces. None of them will ever be able to see their beloved ‘Perry’...

The crash happened when the 9-year-old driver sideswiped one driver, then swerved into the path of the truck on a highway frontage road in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Valley City. The children were wearing their seatbelts during the crash that briefly closed traffic lanes near the highway.
