“Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness. . . . and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. . . . to put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate. . . .” (Daniel 9:24-27) Most commentators seem to butcher the 70 weeks of Daniel, leaving more questions than answers. I’m going to try to make this...

America’s future is bright. No matter the challenge, we persevere and thrive. Today, however, we are engaged in an existential battle that will determine whether our country, born in the cradle of freedom and dedicated to liberty, will survive. Some question the legitimacy of our American institutions. Others challenge the economic liberties we have so long enjoyed. And still others want to take our freedoms away in the name of misguided concepts that, while sounding good, lead to tyranny. We, the silent majority, have a different perspective. And it is our time to lead once again. We want our leaders...

Penang assam laksa is arguably the most popular of laksas in Malaysia. (Pinterest pic) It’s not easy to find a dish that can somehow encapsulate the diverse taste buds of Malaysians, but amazingly, laksa seems to do the job just fine. Be it at a fancy hotel buffet or a roadside stall, laksa is one of the homeliest dishes you can find in every corner of Malaysia. However, what a Penangite considers to be laksa might be completely alien to a Johorean, and vice versa. There are so many types of laksa with either subtle or distinctive features depending...

right Republican Party. “Are you uncomfortable remaining a member?” one reporter asked Scott after U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was dumped from GOP leadership this month for repudiating former President Donald Trump. Scott’s response: “The big tent we talk about a lot within the party doesn’t appear to exist, and I think that’s really unfortunate. All I can do is continue to serve the people in a manner that is reputable, open and welcoming.” But 20 years ago this week, another Vermonter did something explosively different. On May 24, 2001, then U.S. Sen. James Jeffords walked into a press-packed Burlington...

As expected, President Joe Biden signed legislation that sets the stage for large ships to cruise this summer to Alaska. The bill – sponsored by Alaska’s legislators and easily passed by both the Senate and House – would allow foreign-flagged cruise ships to sail to and around Alaska from the U.S. without stopping at a foreign port, as required by the Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886. The waiver is good until Canada lifts its ban on large cruise ships, which currently is set to expire on Feb. 28, 2022. In anticipation of Biden’s signing, numerous big-ship cruise lines already...

The rock band Megadeth has parted ways with its bassist David Ellefson following recent sexual misconduct allegations against the performer. "We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with Megadeth and that we are officially parting ways with him," Megadeth co-founder and lead guitarist Dave Mustaine wrote in a statement released on its social media accounts on Monday. "We do not take this decision lightly," the statement continued. "While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible...

@RandPaul I take these threats immensely seriously. As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said on Monday that he would support a House-passed bill to create a commission to probe the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Romney’s comments make him the first GOP senator to say that they would vote for the bill, which needs the support of 10 Republicans to pass the Senate. Asked how he would vote if Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) tries to start debate on the House bill, a move that requires 60 votes to defeat a filibuster, Romney told reporters, “I would support the bill.” Romney wasn’t asked how he would vote...

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas is poised to remove one of its last major gun restrictions after lawmakers approved allowing people to carry handguns without a license, and the background check and training that go with it. The Republican-dominated Legislature approved the measure Monday, sending it to Gov. Greg Abbott, who has said he will sign it despite the objections of law enforcement groups who say it would endanger the public and police. Gun control groups also oppose the measure, noting the state’s recent history of mass shootings, including those at an El Paso Walmart, a church in Sutherland Springs,...

How the Vicious Cycle of Arab "Palestinian" or Hezbollah - Bringing About Dead Kids Can Be Diminished Fight the death cult! Save lives! The vicious cycle is ever repeating. Palestinian or Hezbollah attack Israeli civilians, Israel goes after the operatives and their tools.. it tries to avoid hitting non combatants, not always successful, as the only party interested in 'dead babies' are exactly those who make sure it happens. Each and every time. As it is mostly tough, technically, to show a clear photo whe de exactly the Hamas, Hezbollah or P.I.Jihad guy was standing prior to being eliminated, or...

Explanation: Thunderstorms almost spoiled this view of the spectacular 2011 June 15 total lunar eclipse. Instead, storm clouds parted for 10 minutes during the total eclipse phase and lightning bolts contributed to the dramatic sky. Captured with a 30-second exposure the scene also inspired one of the more memorable titles (thanks to the astrophotographer) in APOD's now 25-year history. Of course, the lightning reference clearly makes sense, and the shadow play of the dark lunar eclipse was widely viewed across planet Earth in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. The picture itself, however, was shot from the Greek island of Ikaria...

On May 23 and 24, 1865, before the soldiers were mustered out of the Union Army, a Grand Review of the Armies was held in Washington, D.C., to honor the victorious troops. President Andrew Johnson also hoped to elevate the mood of a city that was devastated by the loss of President Abraham Lincoln. Over two hundred thousand soldiers marched from the Capitol to the White House before the largest crowds ever seen in that city. In a letter to Anna, Edwards estimated the number of spectators to be around fifty thousand. [SNIP] On the second day, General William T....

The Democratic Party has had a problem. It’s a small, incoherent, and privileged clique funded by billionaire oligarchs to push policies that even mainstream Democratic voters oppose. How to bridge the gap? The solution they chose, which party officials made clear this week, was simple: the way third-world elites always do—by using street violence to keep their clients in line. This week, pro-Palestinian demonstrators auditioned for the chance to join already established Democratic Party militias antifa and Black Lives Matter by attacking Jews in New York and Los Angeles. Apologists for the violence reason that the demonstrators are angry about...
