... "I am deeply concerned about the potential theft of Canadian intellectual property and further concerned that research partnerships with the People's Republic of China may be used by Chinese military and intelligence agencies," said [Alberta's Minister of Advanced Education] Nicolaides in an emailed statement. "More needs to be done to curb foreign state infiltration into our research and innovation centres, including our post-secondary institutions." Nicolaides is not alone in his concerns. The Chinese government's access to intellectual property through university partnerships has been hotly debated in Australia, the U.S. and, to some degree, in Canada as well. Last year,...

@glennbeck I warned years ago that the anti-Jewish hatred of the 1930's will return, and that it will come to America's streets. Well, that day has arrived. It's time to STAND WITH the Jewish people. Clip..

STUDY: People With HIV Age 14 Years Faster New study shows evidence HIV accelerates age-related diseases. HIV positive patients may be living longer, but they may also be aging faster than expected. A new study published today in PLOS One shows that HIV-positive people are at an increased risk of age-related diseases such as some cancers, frailty, osteoporosis, kidney disease, and neurocognitive disease. Researchers think that it is the HIV itself that accelerates the aging process by 14 years, rather than medications used to treat it. Scientists from the UCLA AIDS Institute and Center for AIDS Research and the Multi-Center...

The prosecuting attorney in the Kim Potter case, a former Brooklyn Center officer who discharged a firearm that killed Daunte Wright last month, has resigned from his position. Imran Ali confirmed with KSTP that he has submitted a letter of resignation to Washington County Attorney Pete Orput. His resignation will be effective as of June 17. In the letter, Ali noted the "vitriol" and "partisan politics" as reasons for his decision. "The last several weeks have been difficult for me and my family," Ali stated, in part. "The vitriol from some and the infusion of partisan politics by many has...

Amid calls for an investigation, the NFL announced Monday afternoon that it will review Eugene Chung's claim that he was told he was "not the right minority" during a job interview with a team earlier this year. "We will review the matter," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement. "That comment is completely inappropriate and contrary to league values and workplace policies. The NFL and its clubs are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all personnel in a manner that is consistent with our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion." The Fritz Pollard Alliance is taking Eugene Chung's...

Months after recovering from mild cases of COVID-19, people still have immune cells in their body pumping out antibodies against the virus that causes COVID-19, according to a study from researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Such cells could persist for a lifetime, churning out antibodies all the while. The findings, published May 24 in the journal Nature, suggest that mild cases of COVID-19 leave those infected with lasting antibody protection and that repeated bouts of illness are likely to be uncommon.

VICTORIA -- A Canadian army gunner is facing more than a dozen charges after she allegedly served cannabis-laced cupcakes to her unsuspecting artillery unit during a live-fire exercise. Court documents allege a sudden onset of paranoia, fatigue and confusion among the troops who ate the cupcakes, unaware of their psychoactive contents. "Several affected members were allegedly unable to properly execute safe weapons and explosive handling drills," according to a military judge’s summary of the charges. The incident marks the first time that a Canadian Armed Forces member has been charged with administering marijuana to colleagues without their consent, according to...

Election auditors Windham, New Hampshire, are saying that some of their latest findings are “large enough to account for discrepancies” in the Nov. 3 election results for four state representative seats. Auditors said they found “experimental confirmation that if the contest is undervoted, a fold through a vote target can create a vote.” “Something we strongly suspect at this juncture, based on various evidence, is that in some cases, fold lines are being interpreted by the scanners as valid votes,” Mark Lindeman, who is part of the audit team, told WMUR. Harri Hursti, another auditor, wrote on Twitter that testing...

As the two fringe cable TV outlets battle for former President Donald Trump’s affections, several high-profile One America News staffers have jumped ship to Newsmax—not just in pursuit of a larger audience, insiders said, but also as a respite from OAN’s increasing extremism. Already known for its cartoonishly bonkers MAGA propagandizing, OAN in recent months has veered even further into unhinged right-wing territory. And Newsmax—which is often just as obsequiously pro-Trump in its commentary—has pulled back on its wildest election conspiracy theories while hoovering up some of OAN’s top on-air talent: news anchor Alex Salvi, correspondent Jenn Pellegrino, and reporter...

According to a recent article by the left-wing Salon, multiple former employees of Luntz have come forward to raise ethical questions about Luntz’s business, which focuses on public policy polling and focus groups to inform politicians and political parties as well as Fox News, MSNBC, and CNBC. Accusations range from Luntz’s operation being a “scam” that violates codes of ethics to Luntz’s business being “bullsh^t”. Salon spoke extensively to Chris Ingram, a former senior vice president at the Luntz Research Company during the late 1990s and early 2000s, who told the publication that “Luntz’s claim to deliver objective data is...

If there were a flopping safety word that would make all of this stop, everyone should be screaming it right now. Chris Paul is a much, much smaller human than LeBron James. There really is no scientific way in which Paul could have caused injury to James in this scenario. Yet, there is “The King,” writhing on the floor as his Laker teammates attempted to defend their leader’s “honor.” Outrage online caused “LeFlop” to begin trending. If there’s any consolation, the Lakers lost to the Suns 99-90. It’s probably safe to say that LeBron James has done more to expand...

The honeymoon is over. Economic confidence slipped back into negative territory, according to survey data released by Gallup on Monday. Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index dropped to -7, down from +2 in April and back to the level registered in March. Gallup said the recent shifts in confidence “may reflect public reaction to a stronger-than-anticipated jobs report in April, followed by a weaker-than-expected report in May.” It is also likely that confidence has been shaken by rising prices and shortages of some products and materials, including the recent widespread gas shortages
