The California Department of Finance released estimates Friday reporting that the Golden State lost 0.46 percent of its population in 2020. The population loss is the first the state has measured as an annual decline in the decades it has been tracking annual population data. In 2019, state demographers had estimated a population increase of 0.2 percent, or 87,494 people. But in 2020, California saw a net loss of 182,083 people and a net exodus of 310,918 people.

Officials in Maricopa County, Arizona, are refusing to comply with subpoenas from the state Senate that require them to turn over routers or router images to auditors reviewing the November 2020 election, saying that surrendering the items will cause a "significant security risk" to local law enforcement. "We had previously believed that the risk would be eliminated by redacting the law enforcement data on the routers and not producing it. But we were informed that redaction did not eliminate the risk," Deputy County Attorney Joseph LaRue said in a letter this week to Senate Audit Liaison Ken Bennett, reports The...

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted lives the world over for more than a year. Its death toll will soon reach three million people. Yet the origin of pandemic remains uncertain: The political agendas of governments and scientists have generated thick clouds of obfuscation, which the mainstream press seems helpless to dispel. In what follows I will sort through the available scientific facts, which hold many clues as to what happened, and provide readers with the evidence to make their own judgments. I will then try to assess the complex issue of blame, which starts with, but extends far beyond, the...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen cautioned Friday that the U.S. faces a “long road” to economic recovery but described the latest jobs report from the Department of Labor as an indication the country is making progress. “We knew it would be a long road back to the recovery. That’s why the legislation provided lasting support rather than just a few months of relief. We knew this would not be a 100-day battle,” Yellen said at a White House press briefing. “Today’s jobs report underscores the long haul climb back to recovery.” The U.S. economy added 266,000 jobs during the month of...
  • China, Fauci and the Origins of Covid Did the virus come from a Chinese lab funded by the celebrated doctor’s U.S. government institute?

Before Covid-19 ravaged the world, Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases funded coronavirus research that included work at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology. The idea was to study the ability of such viruses to attack humans, but could a Fauci-funded experiment actually be the source of the deadly global infection? In an exhaustive account of the viral possibilities published this week by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Nicholas Wade argues that the Chinese lab is the most likely source of the world-wide agony.

America’s elite schools are either toxic nests of racism, or insufferably woke indoctrination camps. As the saying goes, Why not both? The last few weeks have seen the first wave of real pushback against radically dumb wokification at formerly prestigious private schools—and this time it’s coming from inside the school. Much has been written recently about the war taking place on America’s premiere private school campuses. A teacher at Grace School in New York wrote a brutal takedown of the woke regime. A parent at Brearley went viral with a scathing letter to his daughter’s school. Bari Weiss covered some...

The U.S. Department of Justice expressed concern about ballot security and potential voter intimidation arising from the Republican-controlled Arizona Senate's unprecedented private recount of the 2020 presidential election results in Maricopa County. In a letter to GOP Senate President Karen Fann, the head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division said the Senate's farming out of 2.1 million ballots from the state's most populous county to a contractor may run afoul of federal law requiring ballots to remain in the control of elections officials for 22 months. “Past experience with similar investigative efforts around the country has raised concerns that...

Allies of President Joe Biden are apparently so worried about his political future that they decided to compile an entire opposition file on MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. Politico recently reported that Biden’s political operation has quietly “started preparing for 2024, including the Democratic party’s main committee.” The Democratic National Committee (DNC) “has quietly assembled a core team that is focused not just on the 2022 midterms but on the next presidential cycle and the expected Biden re-elect,” Politico said. The team is reportedly being led by DNC Director of Research Nick Bauer. The group started compiling opposition research on over...

A 25-year-old Malian woman has given birth to nine babies - two more than doctors had detected during scans. Halima Cissé gave birth to the nonuplets in Morocco. Mali's government flew her there for specialist care. "I'm very happy," her husband told the BBC. "My wife and the babies [five girls and four boys] are doing well." A woman who had eight babies in the US in 2009 holds the Guinness World Record for the most children delivered at a single birth to survive. Two sets of nonuplets have previously been recorded - one born to a woman in Australia...

Last year, in the run-up to the elections, the drive-by media began demonizing Marjorie Taylor Greene, a first-time House candidate in Georgia. She was castigated as a QAnon crazy and all sorts of other things. Despite these attacks, Greene won with a resounding 75% of her district's votes. Tucker Carlson recently spent an hour talking to Greene, and I came away impressed. The only downside is that the interview is on Fox Nation, so if you're not already a member, you need to set up a trial membership to hear her. I must admit that I was already inclined to...

The Missouri House passed legislation Thursday that would make Jan. 12 “Rush Limbaugh Day”, according to The New York Post. Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh died in February after battling lung cancer. Many paid tribute to Limbaugh, including Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who said he “revolutionized American radio” and led the conservative movement, according to The New York Post. Limbaugh began “The Rush Limbaugh Show” in 1988, which boasted the most listeners of any radio show in America. Former President Trump awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom following his death and former Vice President Mike Pence...

Derek Chauvin and three other former Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd's death were indicted Friday on federal civil rights charges. The three-count indictment alleges Chauvin, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane deprived Floyd's rights when they saw him lying on the ground "in clear need" of medical care, but "willfully failed to aid Floyd, thereby acting with deliberate indifference to a substantial risk of harm."

Dr. Marty Makary, a surgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital, disputed CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky's contention that COVID-19 variants could set back the march to herd immunity from COVID-19 during a Thursday afternoon appearance on Fox News' "The Story." Walensky on Wednesday called the various COVID-19 scariants, er, variants a "wild card" that could "reverse" the progress made so far. In an op-ed for the New York Post published Tuesday titled "Don’t buy the fearmongering: The COVID-19 threat is waning," Makary argued against buying into the "fear" that variants could "evade vaccines." Look at the facts: About 57 percent of...

The vote to determine House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney’s fate in leadership is scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to an announcement sent to members Friday. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) is slated to initiate the call for the vote to oust the Wyoming lawmaker — the No. 3 Republican in the House and daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney — who came under fire for her criticisms of former President Donald Trump. The meeting is slated to kick off at 9 a.m., the morning after House lawmakers arrive back to Washington after their two-week recess.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is warning Black Lives Matter and Antifa to stay away from the state or “there will be consequences.” DeSantis explained that he supports the First Amendment and peaceful protests — but will not tolerate rioters the way liberal states have. “The minute you harm somebody else, or you harm somebody’s property, or you do these types of things, the only way we’re going to stop it is to have very swift penalties for it,” DeSantis stated during a press conference. DeSantis discussed how the police were being treated horribly, including having bricks thrown at them. “You’ve...

President Biden on Friday insisted that disappointing jobs growth isn’t the result of a federal unemployment insurance supplement — even though business owners say they can’t get enough workers to come back. The US added just 266,000 new jobs in April — far below estimates of around 1 million as the economy rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic. Republicans and business groups blame the $300 weekly federal subsidy that runs through Sept. 6, which allows some low-wage workers to make more money staying home than returning to work. But Biden said the jobs figures actually show “more help is needed” via...
