A whole genome study discovered a number of genetic characteristics unique to those who live well past 100ljsphotography/Depositphotos VIEW 1 IMAGES In the most detailed genomic study ever conducted of individuals over the age of 100 years, researchers have homed in on several particular genetic characteristics that seem to confer protection from age-related diseases. Gene variants improving DNA repair processes were particularly prominent in this cohort of supercentenarians. If you eat well, exercise frequently and avoid those detrimental vices, you can reasonably hope to live a long and healthy life. Of course, many age-related diseases seem almost inevitable, whether they...

Donald Trump has endorsed Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney's potential replacement. Earlier this week, it was reported that House leadership is considering removing Cheney, the third-ranking Republican, from her leadership role. Trump has fully endorsed the idea. "Liz Cheney is a warmongering fool who has no business in Republican Party Leadership," Trump said. "We want leaders who believe in the Make America Great Again movement and prioritize the values of America First. Elise Stefanik is a far superior choice, and she has my COMPLETE and TOTAL endorsement for GOP Conference Chair. Elise is a tough and smart communicator!"

Utopia (6 min video) Utopia: "Watching Utopia in the midst of a pandemic is a surreal experience. That’s because the series was filmed in 2019, before the emergence of COVID-19. Despite this fact, Utopia is mind-bogglingly timely (or untimely according to some) in 2020 as its story revolves around a pandemic, a rush for a vaccine, and a massive conspiracy by a big pharma company. The nefarious plans of the villains are however thwarted by a ragtag group of nerds who discovered that an underground graphic novel has been predicting the emergence of several viruses through enigmatic symbols. What’s mind-boggling...

At least six Senate Republicans have committed to requesting earmarks during the current congressional session, despite an ostensible conference ban on the practice. Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, West Virginia Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, Maine Sen. Susan Collins, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, and Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby confirmed to Politico on Tuesday that they would request earmarks. WASHINGTON, May 4 (Reuters) - Fears that U.S. cities would be emptied by the coronavirus pandemic are giving way to potential signs of revival, according to a series of analyses that suggest any dislocation from the last year will prove temporary. Some data suggest a return is already underway. Cellphone tracking firm Unacast had earlier noted that phone users were shifting their overnight locations out of New York, but now sees them coming back. "New York is growing again," with the city adding a net 1,900 people in the first two months of 2021 versus a loss of 7,100 in...

DENVER (KDVR) — A new report in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System said that a 15-year-old boy from Colorado died from cardiac failure April 20, two days after receiving the Pfizer COVID vaccine. There are no pre-existing conditions or allergies listed. VAERS is a system that allows anyone to make a report without it being verified. Right now Pfizer only has emergency use authorization for people age 16 and up. FOX31 has contacted the CDC and Colorado Department of Public Heath and Environment to try and verify this...

We hear the phrase “actions have consequences,” often used to justify cancel culture or other moves by the Left to red line those seeking restoration of constitutional government. Well, that’s fine and dandy, as long as it applies to all. The problem is, the Republican establishment has been trying to duck the consequences of action – or more accurately, inaction – for a long time. Let’s take, for instance, the scandal surrounding the targeting of the Tea Party by the Internal Revenue Service. Those in 2013 who had held themselves up as leaders of the Republican Party by virtue of...

A litmus test helps smoke out the political fakes and imposters. More Republican politicians claim to be conservative than really are, and litmus tests separate the wheat from the chaff.Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Monday that should become the new standard against which Republican candidates are measured. “The Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020 will be, from this day forth, known as THE BIG LIE!” Trump declared.Leftists have figured out how to steal elections by harvesting mail-in ballots, as happened in the last presidential election and then again in the special Georgia U.S. Senate runoff elections. Republicans who deny this...

Are there aliens out there? Based on statistics alone, the answer should be a resounding yes. The Milky Way has at least 100 billion stars and the vast majority of these have planets orbiting them. But while the numbers are on our side, evidence remains lacking. The Breakthrough Listen project has delivered the first results of its massive new SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) survey in search of alien civilizations. And when we say massive, we mean massive. The observations looked at 60 million stars towards the galactic center, a region where stars are more tightly packed. By looking at...

ASHINGTON – Canada is proposing a 1% tax on underutilized or vacant real estate owned by foreigners, thereby potentially foisting thousands of dollars of annual costs on Americans who own properties north of the border that they haven't been able to visit for more than a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The tax, which would be implemented in 2022 if adopted as part of the Canadian budget for that year, is aimed largely at foreign investors who have been snapping up condos in Toronto and other booming Canadian cities. But cottage owners from the Buffalo area and others who...

We usually assume that inbreeding is bad and should be avoided under all circumstances. But new research performed by researchers at Stockholm University, published in Nature Ecology and Evolution, shows that there is little support for this assumption. The idea that animals should avoid mating with relatives has been the starting point for hundreds of scientific studies performed among many species. But it turns out the picture is more complicated. “People assume that animals should avoid mating with a relative when given the chance,” says Raïssa de Boer, researcher in zoology at Stockholm University. “But evolutionary theory has been telling...

Birth and fertility rates in the United States declined again last year, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed Wednesday -- with births down 4% to the lowest level in more than 40 years. The total and general fertility rates in 2020 also declined 4% from 2019 to record lows. The report said at the current level -- known as "below replacement" -- there are more people dying every day than are being born. The decline from 2019 to 2020 is the largest single-year decrease in nearly 50 years. The U.S. birth rate last year was down...
