Age is a terrifying thing for a lot of people. Your body is not as nimble as it was before, you start to forget things, and people generally tend to live in the memories of the glorious past rather than creating new ones. A study that appeared today on Current Biology sheds new light on the continental migrations which shaped the genetic background of all present Europeans. The research generates new ancient DNA evidence and direct dating from a fragmentary fossil mandible belonging to an individual who lived ~17,000 years ago in northeastern Italy (Riparo Tagliente, Verona). The results backdate by about 3,000 years the diffusion in Southern Europe of a genetic component linked to Eastern Europe/Western Asia previously believed to have spread westwards during later major warming shifts...This individual, whose half-mandible had been found at Riparo Tagliente in 1963, shares genetic affinities with...

Wait: did CNN's John Berman just analogize Liz Cheney to Jesus Christ? Sure sounds like it! On this morning's New Day, co-host John Berman eagerly reported "a senior House Republican tells CNN that congresswoman Liz Cheney could be in, quote, 'very big trouble.'" House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy might be "hanging her out to dry." Later, Berman added "his statements about Liz Cheney, the number three in the House, were almost biblical. Like, three times he denied her." That, of course, is a New Testament reference to Peter having denied Jesus three times. Get the rest of the story and...
