CHAIRMAN REED TAKES THE GAVEL: Minority Leader Mitch McConnell dropped his demand that Democrats agree to give up their power to change Senate rules to end the filibuster, which now clears the way for committees to be rebalanced to reflect the 50/50 Senate split and for Democrats to take over the chairmanship. That means Democratic Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed, who has been chairman-in-waiting, on the Armed Services Committee, will take over from Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe, but more importantly, bills that receive a tie vote in committee will proceed to a floor vote, where the vice president can break...

He’s jettisoning this 215-year-old protection for minority rights based upon promises from two Democrat senators. ...Thanks to Kamala’s tie-breaking vote, Sen. Chuck Schumer is the Majority Leader. He’s proposed an equal-power sharing agreement, provided that the Senate ditches the filibuster. Of course, the notion of equal power is a chimera. I did mention Kamala’s tie-breaking vote, right? For a while McConnell held firm, refusing to go along with Schumer’s proposal. But Schumer nagged, whined, and complained. He went on MSNBC and said that McConnell’s stubbornness was making his “entire caucus” mad. For a while, McConnell held strong. But no longer....

It’s just the flu, bro. https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3928820/posts Fauci supports double masking. In previous posts I have mentioned some life hacks related to masks. I will recount those here plus some new ones: 1.always wear below the nose 2.if the mask police tell you to put your mask above the nose then be sure to wear a thin cloth mask 3.a double cloth mask can be turned into a thin single layer mask by cutting out a layer with scissors 4.put tiny slits in the single layer cloth mask to further enhance breathing 5.wear a cloth mask that has been washed in...

Two hundred House Republicans, accounting for nearly the entire caucus, signed on to a pledge to oppose a budget bill that eliminates the Hyde Amendment, the measure that prevents federal funding from being used on abortion services. "We cannot allow the Hyde Amendment and other important pro-life safeguards to be decimated by Congressional Democrats. Accordingly, we pledge to vote against any government funding bill that eliminates or weakens the Hyde Amendment or other current-law, pro-life appropriations provisions," said the letter to House and Senate leadership, released by the Republican Study Committee. Two hundred House Republicans, accounting for nearly the entire caucus,...

Hypocrisy is more common than oxygen in politics. It is the lifeblood of those who strive to hold their opponents up what they not only can’t achieve themselves, but have no interest in holding themselves too either. And “cancel culture” is their weapon of choice. Remember all the talk during the Clinton administration about the “politics of personal destruction”? It was Bill Clinton’s go-to defense against anything – claiming those evil Republicans were simply out to destroy him personally because they hated him. Never mind the facts of the things Bill actually did while in office – perjury over his...

On his first day in office, President Biden rescinded the Trump administration’s executive order prohibiting critical race theory training for federal agencies and federal contractors. This is a sad reversal for Americans committed to colorblindness in public life. But while the president’s order is binding at the federal level, state legislators still have a say in the matter. They should not shrink from resisting this pernicious philosophy. Critical race theory understands the world by viewing everything — society, economics, education, family, science — through the lens of “whiteness” and white racism. White people, according to CRT, drift in a kind...

Keeping schools closed is having a "calamitous" impact on children, some of the UK's top paediatricians have warned as they called for teachers to be prioritised for a vaccine. The group said they were witnessing an "acute and rapid increase in mental health and safeguarding cases", with parents suffering breakdowns and other psychological stress due to home-schooling. Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi insisted it was the government's "absolute priority" to re-open schools. But Labour said people "need certainty" about how low coronavirus rates need to sink for all children to be sent back to the classroom. Over the weekend, Health Secretary...

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Biden, appeared to support the idea of “double-masking,” or wearing two masks at once, during a Monday appearance on TODAY, telling anchor Savannah Guthrie that it “just makes common sense that it would likely be more effective.” “A lot of folks are hearing now about double-masking — wearing two masks or try[ing] to get one of those N95 medical-grade masks. Do you believe that’s advisable and makes a difference?” Guthrie asked the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director. “You know, it likely does because I mean this is a physical...

Disclaimer: I did not read the Catherine Cookson novel that is the source material. I was just wasting time on YouTube when this complete upload of a TV miniseries came up on the recommended list. After some checking out some brief clips, I decided to invest the hour and 45 minutes and watch it. One thing I immediately noticed in the beginning was most of the characters have Northern English accents. The setting is in County Durham close to Newcastle during the early Victorian era. I believe the term for the accent from that region is Geordie. One of the...

Now a four-day old video. Still, it shows how Biden (like Obama) doesn't care about American jobs or Americans paying higher gas prices.

Would you pay more than $12,000 for a dog? Some Singaporeans can - and will. And demand for these costly canines shows no signs of abating, despite prices for many breeds ballooning since last year. Checks by The Straits Times found that a golden retriever can cost up to $12,800, compared with about $5,000 last January. A poodle can go for as much as $11,800, when one cost around $4,000 in the previous year. Demand for puppies surged right after the circuit breaker [Singaporean name for lockdown] ended, and all five shops suggest that prices will continue to rise. Dogs...

Don't bother going to the link, just wanted you to see the cover of this magazine. Who do they think is going to clean up Biden's messes, literally and figuratively? I wouldn't be surprised if he needed his Depends changed for him every few hours.

Babies are cranky at times, but what lengths would you go to calm them down? It'd definitely not be feeding them a concoction of beer, energy drink and milk in a bottle, as what this Indonesian man did. A video of Andika feeding his four-month-old nephew milk that he mixed with beer and an energy drink recently went viral on social media in Indonesia, according to Kompas. According to the police, Andika and five friends were having a drinking party at his brother's place on Jan 20 night. His brother and sister-in-law, who are the parents of the baby, were...

In this day and age, we on the right need to think about allies on the left that have the same view on censorship.....we all know about the Conservatives who have been banned on Facebook and Twitter, Facebook is not content with banning Conservatives, they will censor anyone who goes against the establishment.....Case in point the Socialist Workers Party in the UK was just banned and left irate about it.....

Congressman Eric Swalwell appeared on CNN Monday to discuss the impending impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. Towards the end of the interview, Jake Tapper asked about his past contact with an alleged Chinese spy. You may remember that last month, Axios dropped a pretty stunning report about suspected Chinese spy Christine Fang (also known as Fang Fang) targeting a number of U.S. politicians, including Swalwell. At the time, Swalwell’s office told Axios, “Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person - whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six...
