CHAIRMAN REED TAKES THE GAVEL: Minority Leader Mitch McConnell dropped his demand that Democrats agree to give up their power to change Senate rules to end the filibuster, which now clears the way for committees to be rebalanced to reflect the 50/50 Senate split and for Democrats to take over the chairmanship.
That means Democratic Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed, who has been chairman-in-waiting, on the Armed Services Committee, will take over from Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe, but more importantly, bills that receive a tie vote in committee will proceed to a floor vote, where the vice president can break any ties.
Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had vowed to never agree to relinquish the threat of ending the filibuster, and last night McConnell released a statement saying that with the assurances of two Democratic senators that they will not vote to end the legislative filibuster, he was ready to proceed with a power-sharing agreement with the Democrats.
“The legislative filibuster was a key part of the foundation beneath the Senate’s last 50-50 power-sharing agreement in 2001,” McConnell said. “With these assurances, I look forward to moving ahead with a power-sharing agreement modeled on that precedent.”

RINO Mitch McConnell does have his CCP wife handling him, after all. Never holding my nose and voting for another RINO. It’s practically too late for votes to count anyhow and after the 2022 mid-terms they’ll have locked in full-blown communism and Mitch is intent on that taking place.

Well I’m holding off making any judgment call on that note......too early as I want to see what the Trumps are going to do down the road. Currently he apparently has no interest in anther party rather wants to be the face of the GOP.....Trumps not stupid and I figure he has or will have something quite interesting to say here in the future.

I think people here are misreading the story. The legislative filibuster stands and the GOP is in fact the minority Senate party now. Yes, Manchin and Sinema could theoretically change their minds, though unlikely since that would just open the door to votes on communist initiatives that would get them thrown out of office. But, the Democrats were never not going to take over all the chairmanships with Harris as the tiebreaker.
Watching my two enemies fight for power, all I want is gridlock until 2022. At that point, I’ll vote for any Republican that didn’t support impeachment and I’ll vote for any Democrat running against a Republican that supported impeachment. Those are my only criteria in the next election, no other issues matter.
It’s going to be interesting to see how badly these fools are going to make themselves look.....on both sides of the aisle.
They still think the public doesn’t see right thru them.
Honestly I hardly care what I do or don’t understand or misread.....the equation that is playing out hasn’t changed.
They need to flip 1 democRat Senator.
