General George S. Patton wanted to keep going! Instead of halting the American advance and playing nice with Russia at the end of World War II, Patton wanted to stave off future threats. That’s why the American general was poised to have U.S. troops move in and occupy Berlin, Prague, and other parts of Eastern Europe. So why didn’t the allied leadership allow Patton to have his way? And, why was Patton effectively silenced before he could address the American people?Robert Orlando, a filmmaker, author, entrepreneur and scholar, addresses these questions in a new book titled “The Tragedy of Patton” and...

Special Dispatch to the New-York Times. SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Friday, Nov. 9. I find that Mr. LINCOLN is not insensible to any uneasiness in the minds of candid men, nor to any commercial or financial expression of disturbance in the country. If there be such still, he does, so far as at present advised, deem it unnecessary for him to make or authorize any public declaration. He thinks candid men need only examine his views already before the public. Leading Republicans here are opposed to giving the secessionists any satisfaction as to what will be LINCOLN's course. They say: "What is...

I can't verify the source of this, so all I could do is research it and determine if the mechanics of this idea were correct. It appears that it is. I would like to give credit to the supposed author, but as I said, I can't verify the source. If anyone has read this before, please acknowledge the VERIFIED source. --------- I agree that this will go to the Supreme Court. I agree they will rule that the election is invalid due to fraud or mistakes on a country wide scale. If that's the case, it will go one of...

Over the summer, President Trump suspended many guest-worker visas for the duration of 2020. Business groups like the Chamber of Commerce howled in outrage. Immigration and guest-worker programs grow the economy, they claim -- so by cutting off the flow of roughly 500,000 guest workers this year, President Trump is impeding the economic recovery and hurting Americans. This is at odds with reality. Restricting the influx of foreign workers makes Americans better off, especially during times of high unemployment. On the most elementary level, it's true that immigration grows the economy -- but only because it increases the total population....

The FOX hit comedy Family Guy imagined President Donald Trump, his wife Melania, and Vice President Mike Pence hanging themselves in prison in an episode that aired just after Tuesday’s presidential election. The November 8th episode of Family Guy, titled “La Famiglia Guy,” began with Peter and Lois Griffin reading newspapers announcing Trump’s suicide.

Actor Dwayne Johnson says he cried and shed “manly tears” after the elite media called the 2020 presidential election for Joe Biden. “I wanted to shoot this yesterday, when the news broke, but I got a little emotional, admittedly so, I got a little emotional yesterday, manly tears of course, I may have cried a tear or two, or ten, but they were all very manly. All my tears are manly,” said Johnson in a video posted Sunday to his more than 200 million instagram followers, congratulating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. “But the reason why I got emotional yesterday,...

This is a new-to-me blog I found on Instapundit: The Remodern Review, by Richard Bledsoe, painter, writer and art curator who normally blogs about art but “the various outrages of 2020 have been pulling me outside the normal scope of that topic:” My perspectives on the dysfunctions of the contemporary art world have informed my insights of the great assaults occurring against Western culture. The weaponizing of our institutions against us has been a long term Marxist project. Extrapolations of the absurdities and abuses I first encountered in 1980s art school education are now informing our politics on a vast...

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." Or do we? At the end of a long, bitter political year, shall we take a look? The Founding Fathers' abstract commitment to equality -- reinforced by the Gettysburg Address -- vexes and perplexes Americans across the political sphere. We know we're "equal," more or less. But equal on what terms: nature's or the government's? "Equality" takes on the quality that 21st Century politicians assign it according to vote tallies, with backing from the media's noisier voices. We hear about economic equality; we hear about educational equality;...

Fruity cargo cult Apple has been hit by another child labour scandal, this time involving its Pegatron supplier. The Financial Times discovered that Pegatron used thousands of student interns working overtime to assemble iPhones in breach of Chinese law. The Tame Apple Press has been doing its best to make Apple appear the good guy in the scandal saying that Jobs’ Mob had “reprimanded” Pegatron. After being contacted by the FT, Apple said it had stopped giving "new business" to Pegatron, its second-largest iPhone assembler after Foxconn. Strangely though, Pegatron does not appear to have received the memo and workers...

I have a idea for a protest at the capital. For Arizona where open carry is legal you come armed. In other states where it is not you come with toy guns. You elect right there at the rally squad leaders and start teaching people how to march in formation. Even the kids get there own separate squad. (Imagine how THAT would freak out the left!) . The idea is to sing while marching in formation! Once in formation you start singing “Battle Hymn of the Republic”: Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;...

Today’s Scripture: John 6:37 "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." We need the inner witness of the Spirit, not only at the time we come to Christ, but throughout our Christian lives, especially in times of severe temptation and failure. Once I was on my way to speak at a conference on the pursuit of holiness. The trip itself had been one of those stressful experiences when I did not exhibit the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, and peace to airline personnel. I felt...

A person who recently spent the night in police custody in England surprised the local department with a sarcastic thank you note and winning lottery tickets following their stint, requesting that officers use the prize money for better coffee.

Now that the media has declared Joe Biden the next president of the United States, let’s take a look at the state of play: 1) Donald Trump is legally the president until his term expires at noon on Jan. 20, 2021. Nothing that happened last week or will happen until that time affects his position or authority in any way. 2) Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. is neither the president nor the president-elect. 3) There is no such thing as the “office of the president-elect.” Barack Obama invented this phantom unconstitutional position back in 2008. It didn’t matter then and it...

It's pretty amazing what the now-jubilant Democrats are asking Republicans to swallow. The Democrats live in a fantasy world. It’s a world in which higher taxes create jobs and prosperity, a world where central control of complex systems produces efficiency, a world where groveling weakness results in international respect and peace. To those old and longstanding fantasies, they’ve added a couple of new ones: a world in which they can sow discord and division and reap acceptance and unity, and a world where the lies they tell will be trusted as the truth. After refusing to accept the results of...

For months now, you’ve been kept at home. Whether you live in a rural area or metropolitan area, you’ve been forced to work from home, wear a mask while shopping, eat out less than usual, and all other manner of inconveniences. Your kids have to do online school, despite them not being at all at risk. Their milestones, such as prom, first dates, and senior year, have been ruined. You might have had to shut down your business. Your parents or grandparents died in the hospital and you were unable to visit them. You were unable to go to church....

The nation is wrestling with profound political confusion. The 2020 election results are controversial, allegations of election fraud unresolved, and a constitutional crisis simmering. Everybody wants to know – Is it over? The legal answer, unless Trump concedes, is “no.” To understand this, one must see how our Founders configured the Constitutional process – for situations like this. First, the Constitution’s Framers were not naïve – they knew the human tendency to bend rules, aggregate power, abuse public office, and government’s tendency to violate individual rights. That is why we have three branches, checking each other’s powers. That is also...
