“When this nightmare is over,” tweeted Robert Reich, “we need a truth and reconciliation commission. It would erase Trump’s lies, comfort those who have been harmed by his hatefulness, and name every official, politician, executive, and media mogul whose greed and cowardice enabled this catastrophe.” The diminutive Clinton-Obama retread, with a JD from Yale, was expanding on an idea from MSNBC mouthpiece Chris Hayes. He accused people who don’t take face masks seriously of “getting people killed,” and “the most humane and reasonable way to dealt with all those people, if we survive this, is some kind of truth...

In John 14, Jesus tells us it is time for us to know our heavenly position in him. He explained to the disciples, “Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father; and you are in Me, and I in you” (John 14:29-20). We are now living in “that day” Jesus speaks of. In short, we are to understand our heavenly position in Christ. Most of us do know our position in Christ — that we are seated with him in heavenly places — but only as a theological fact....

An accelerant on all things the average Cultural Marxist holds dear. For some time I had been struggling with a conundrum: Why is it that Covid breaks down, more or less precisely into an ideological divide? This had been clear for a while in a kind of white-of-the-eye way before I began really to focus on it. Then it struck me: Had a ‘pandemic’ occurred when I was a feature writer and reporter with Irish newspapers about 20 years ago, I could not imagine attending editorial conferences in which the matter would be discussed as though implicitly a left-right question,...

If you're a gardening buff, you know that skillful pruning promotes the overall growth and productivity of a plant. Jesus assumed His audience knew as much when He said, "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you" (John 15:1-3). Jesus was comparing believers to branches, which the Father prunes for maximum productivity. The Word is His...

The venue for President Donald Trump’s political rally in Minnesota scheduled for Friday will be restricted to only 250 people after Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison put pressure on the business owners of multiple locations. The rally was initially planned at the Rochester airport, but Ellison’s office demanded a “COVID preparedness plan” from officials from the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, and the Rochester airport, as well as the Republican National Committee to ensure the event was safe. The event was then moved to Dodge Center, prompting Ellison’s office to ask the Trump campaign and the owner of the building...

“No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:10-12). The Lord gives many distinct promises to defend and keep his people from evil and harm. However, how many people truly walk in the freedom of these verses? Consider, for example, Psalm 91:5: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day.” Often the...

With Election Day less than a week away, universities and faculty are preparing students for Tuesday’s results. Without explicitly saying it, they are worried about the possibility of another victory by President Donald Trump. “Harvard’s Faculty Council launched preliminary discussions” in mid-October on “how to support students and faculty following next month’s presidential election,” the student paper The Harvard Crimson reported. The Center for Research on Learning and Teaching at the University of Michigan published a guide on “Preparing To Teach about the 2020 Election (And After).” Though it does not explicitly state that the authors are concerned about President...

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Settled in northeast Pennsylvania, Luzerne County is closer to New York City than it is to Philadelphia, although by all signs the regional loyalty split was between the Eagles and the Steelers. It was once coal country, an industry that brought 440,000 people, mainly European immigrants, to the Wyoming Valley by its peak in the 1940s, waning as energy technology progressed — and dying when the Knoxville Mine Disaster took its shameful place as the last the valley could bear. By the 1980s and ‘90s, labor-cost competition had driven the remaining industries bankrupt, plunging Luzerne into prolonged recession.In...

US Navy Secretary Kenneth Braithwaite says China poses a greater threat to the US than many Americans realize -- The Cold War gauntlet has been dropped. The ultimate fear scenario, unleashed. And it’s all about China. It’s them, or us, says US Navy Secretary Kenneth Braithwaite. Speaking at an event at the US Navy Memorial SITREP speaker series in Washington, and freshly back from a weeklong trip to the Asia-Pacific region, where he met with local leaders in Japan, Singapore, Guam and Palau, along with sailors and Marines, Braithwaite didn’t hold back. The Navy and Marine Corps‘ top civilian leader...

It was President Nixon’s vision, determination, and courage that opened China to America and to the Western world. As president and for the rest of his life, Richard Nixon worked to build a relationship with China-based upon mutual benefits and obligations that respected America’s bedrock national interests. Today, we in America are obliged to assess whether or not President Nixon’s labors and his hopes for such a relationship have been met or whether they are being undermined. The world was much different then. We imagined engagement with China would produce a future with a bright promise of comity and cooperation....

I hate (and I do mean HATE) the trend of journalists, analysts, and commentators rushing to the closest television camera or website to make their Nostradamus-like forecast of what is going to happen on Election Day. When did the craft of journalism include the fine art of prognostication? (I mean, other than suggesting whether or not you should take the three points on the Lions at home this weekend... spoiler alert: Yes, you should.) I personally detest every smart guy and gal telling you what's about to happen on Election Day rather than analyzing what is actually happening right now and...

Illinois is still the “shut up and take it” state. You might want to ask what are the lockdown Democrats who control Illinois, Cook County, Chicago and many suburbs really telling us? They endorse the catch-and-release prosecutor of Cook County, who fancies herself a social justice warrior while allowing violent offenders out on the streets. They make their coronavirus shutdown decrees, craft their tax-and-spend-and-never-cut budgets. They push their “fair tax” and that cheap 6 mph over the limit traffic camera Chicago speed trap to grab your cash. Pritzker keeps pushing his progressive “fair tax,” which he his fellow Democrats sell...

Citing Scripture from Ecclesiastes 3, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden told voters Tuesday that God is calling the nation to heal from the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic, racial unrest and political division and he wants to make America one nation under God again. “I run to unite this nation, to heal this nation. I’ve said that from the beginning. It’s badly necessary. The Bible tells us there’s a time to break down and a time to build up, a time to heal. This is that time. God in history has called us to this moment and to this mission,”...

In a speech about the dangers of bigotry at a memorial for the synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, Bernie Sanders included Israel in a list of countries where he claims authoritarianism is rising. Sanders, the democratic socialist Vermont senator, was the keynote speaker at a virtual memorial event hosted by Bend The Arc, a left-wing Jewish advocacy group. The event, held a day after the two-year anniversary of the synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh in which 11 Jews were killed, centered on warning of the dangerous effects of white supremacy and xenophobia. Sanders spoke about how relatives of his were murdered in...

It looks as though Walmart’s crystal ball is showing a big, beautiful victory for President Trump next week. Ahead of Tuesday’s election, Walmart officials have made the decision to remove all guns and ammo from shelves. But this isn’t a stunt to cave in to the anti gun lunatics, it’s to prevent rioting looters from making off with the goods. Guns and ammo are still available for purchase, they will just be kept in the back and, hopefully, in a locked and fortified area.

It's no secret that the predictions of so-called "scientific polls" have been very wide of the mark over the past five years. Remember the 2016 election in the USA and Brexit in England? Both polls were wrong. Amid all the loud vociferation of the media shouting the results of polls they have oftentimes commissioned, it's forgotten that the only poll that counts is the poll that the voter votes in. It's well to remember that opinion polls are bought and paid by various special interests who seek to influence and change the way people vote or to discourage them from...

Chicago's non-essential businesses will be able to stay open a little longer as the city takes on new mitigations from the state, including the suspension of indoor dining and bar service. Beginning Friday, all non-essential businesses will need to close to the public from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Previous restrictions had forced businesses to close at 10 p.m. "This will allow restaurants and bars that can no longer offer indoor service an extra hour of outdoor operations each evening," Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's office said in a release.

Retailer says move is a safety precaution but customers can still purchase firearms and ammunition. Walmart Inc. has removed all guns and ammunition from the sales floors of its U.S. stores this week, aiming to head off any potential theft of firearms if stores are broken into amid social unrest. The retail giant, which sells firearms in about half of its 4,700 U.S. stores, said customers can still purchase guns and ammunition upon request even though they are no longer on display. “We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last...

The Police Defunding Foundation Behind Kamala Harris "We must work for real systemic change to disempower law enforcement." Fri Oct 30, 2020 Daniel Greenfield Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism. Last month, the Akonadi Foundation was touting “occupations” of houses by the activists it backs. The “occupations” were said to “reclaim” the houses from real estate “speculators”. The hypocrisy was obvious considering that the foundation is the project of Quinn Delaney and Wayne Jordan. Jordan is a major real estate developer and...
